they are suggesting more ticks per day, which in my opinion will never happen for this dimension… it would be an ultimately different matter if a new dimension was created:)

alban, i dont’ know how u can call loaning more players as cheat??? it is a very tough word and should be used thoughtfully. i am sure u must have done your homework before using it though ;) .
if you try to understand the dynamics of creativity, then, u try to be more creative or try to find more ways to achieve success when you have limited resources. so, any team with small amount of resources would be forced to look for loan players. And since it is not prohibited in the current rules and regulations, managers are utilizing their resources to get the best result.

I cannot see how that is cheating. Although i am not sure how much that would help u in developing good players of your own, but that would certainly help in getting instant results.

But then every manager has his own way of working things up the ladder.

danilo, i didn’t mean it to be an offline viewer. i wanted it rather on the same page as match replay. may be we could adjust the viewing area a little bit and have it on the right hand side of the screen. that would be perfectly fine to me.

i never want it to be offline viewer.

this suggestion was made before also, and i think it is in the gabriel and danilo’s plans for the future. but i guess it would take some time.

Well said. I Also think 5 players loan limit should be implemented. If you have more than 50% of loaned players in your squad, you kinda “cheat” – you get results such as victories in smaller leagues and also you save money to buy players in the future. That’s unfair to managers who try to build their teams from the start. Nice idea, Humberto !

Danilo, and what about my idea ? I wanted to search for the commentary logged in to RS in the match replay ? =)

Some teams have a lot of loan players. IMO should have a limit for this.

I remember in managersim there was optional news paper interviews that you could do talking about either your big up coming match or your recent victory or defeat and questions would be asked and you would get a chance to reply and other players would be able to see what you said in the news paper. I would enjoy either something similar where a news paper was generated or forums that would allow players within 1 country to talk to one another. (friendly trash talk :D) I would enjoy the ability to discuss league happenings between people in my country more. People might be more willing to check the forum if it was only regarding their teams country.

Are you suggesting that you move the ticks forward an hour or making it so there are more ticks in a day?

I thought it would be helpful to add that I am running Safari 3.2.1 I should really try to see if I get the same thing with firefox. But I was more interested in knowing if anyone that works with the game has tested the game on mac.

I often log on to check my club with my Mac Book Pro, and there are somethings that I have issues with. For example on my home screen for my club my matchs show ?-? for the score… I can not watch game plays using the java app thing… and when I click on a link to a report or player from my in-game mail it kicked me back out to the log in screen..

Sly,
I disagree with this statement, “You should be rewarded for hard work when searching, to find that “golden nugget” that everyone missed.”, I would rather see Managers fighting over signing player. There is skill involved in finding quality players but making it easier for all players doesn’t take out the skill in know what a good player is. It would make signing quality players more of a factor of economics rather then time spent looking at transfer lists.

You have to be impressed by the intelectual growth of our community. Everytime I come here I see better interactions than the last time. That makes me start to think about investing some time to improve the community tools we have…

Hey Hank, always causing troubles with your shrewd tactics ain’t you mate.
Ok here is a bit of delayed insight from MS times.
-Tactics do matter. despite the fact that tactics here are not that developed doesn’t reduce the importance of tactics. The recent Liverpool wins against Real Madrid and Scum United (between them those teams had 20 wins in a row) with 4 nets in each game are a good example of what tactics can do.
-Lots of “newbies” rely on the main stats (tackle, passing, shooting) to evaluate a player and tend to overlook “secondary” stats. That’s the biggest mistake you can make and that’s why players like Alexander end up frustrated playing against so seemingly “poor” teams on the paper (I experienced the same disturbance long ago :D). A 95 tackler with secondaries in the 60’s or even 70’s is pretty much shite. He’s ONE DIMENSIONAL.
-On the other hand, an 85 tackler with let’s say an average of 85+ in his secondaries will be much much better, because the “secondary” attributes are what makes him an all-around player (speed, anticipation, positioning, ball control, game reading, airplay etc). So the choice you have to make is to have a line up of unusual hardworking intelligent suspects vs a line up of 2-3 flashy stars and a bunch of nullities. A good questions would be: would you prefer a team averaging 95 in passing but can’t dribble and control, or would you like a team averaging 85 in passing but are great in speed, ball control and drible. How in the world is your 95 passing team gonna take the ball away from the lousy bastards on the others side? :D
-Of course you have to combine players with tactics to enjoy ultimate success :)

Parag, there are some aspects that would have to be considered

1- it would have to be in a format that the txt itself would be enough for you to understand (that is not currently the case :) ).
2- we could have a small program to interpret that for you, offline
3- everytime you see the offline replay would be one less visitor to rubysoccer. And that means a lot to us and to our community. Everytime you login rubysoccer you have, for example, a chance of passing by the forum and having some sort of interaction with somebody

Mainly for reason (3), I think that the idea is not very close to being implemented…

My respects for Hank’s post. Very well said.

And I think you guys will be pleased with the improvements we are planning, not only regarding the match engine. It is like I said in other topic: our first target is to surpass managersim in all areas, not only some of them.

Yep, this is implemented. Depending on your player age / stamina, the injury chances go up.

Sly,

In some areas we are surely behind what managersim had. But we already have a lot of areas were we have surpassed it. I hope that soon we can say that we did that in ALL areas. :)

cheers

i don’t mind reading reading minute by minute moves. (sometimes) … but the main thing is that ,if ithe information is there then, it is better if it is shown rather than hidden… i could always navigate through the important times if not all..

Not sure who it was intended at, but for the most part this thread was about my team.

But to say I’ve exploited a bug is quite the accusation. I have the same tools that everyone has access to. I have access to the same listed players, sale, loan or free, that everyone else has. If you look at my formation, many teams use it. In terms of tactics, I don’t do anything that extraordinary that others can’t do. In terms of strategies, the same thing. In terms of players, well, I do look beyond just the main stats. I used to be a GM in ManagerSim for a short time, so trust me, if there was a bug, I’d be the first to post on here. I’m here to enjoy this game, but it seems others are crying because they can’t win every single game. It’s a football simulation game, not life or death. Adjust your tactics if something isn’t working. Buy and replace players if certain players aren’t working. But to come on here and demand changes to the match engine because you didn’t win, well, I lose all respect for that type of individual. Instead of applauding the successes of lesser teams like PSG, Lyon and Penefiel, you complain that it’s unfair they won anything and the big teams with the best players have to go home empty handed.

Congratulations to Penefiel on winning the Champions League. Your accomplishment should be regarded as a great achievement, and not a “bug in the system”. From me to you, JOB WELL DONE!!

I don’t know how to spell it, but Cattenaccio was like a bug exploit in real life when first appeared =)

I think it is better to experiment with your own tactics than to lie to yourself and say it was due to a bug. Everyone has 11 players and all top teams have for some reason very similar 4-4-2 diamond formation.

But I think it should be clear that if you make 20 shots and score 0 and your opponent makes 10 and scores 1….it might be that you shoot from distance and his shooting is set to “short” or maybe he makes less passes near the opponents goal or whatever !!! Why should it be a bug ? Try to change your tactics against PSG =)

Parag, I think they are strored, but imagine there are at least 6 events every minute of the match it means 540 events to scroll =)

Vaughn, I think it will be boring to read it as a txt file…or….if you really love the game…. =)))

yah… it is better if the comments in the match replay were stored. May be storing them in chronological order where we could scroll along the comments would be appreciated.
