Davison, yes there are managers putting up those players because they might have potentinal to became a superstar. I totally agree it’s stupid, but how many of those actually get sold? There comes a time they remove the tranfer because it’s not getting sold. These things will fix on time based.
.
Btw every manager can ask what they want for a player, you are the one who has to deside if you want to buy him or not.

it sure is humberto, but remember you will lose those players very fast to! I used, and still am, alot of loans to build up my own team and to still get good results. I think the suggestion above is really bad. Player loan is there to improve your squad and build up your own squad in the mean time.
.
Loaning has it disadvantage though, it mostly costs you more money then playing with your own team, which results in less income to spend on new players. But this should stay the dissicion of the current manager.

At my work i use a mac to check the updates, with firefox it works fine…never tested with safari.

An addition.
.
I suggested this some time ago when i entered Ruby. Maybe it’s an idea to make implent the same system of your Finance in Players (option). i’m refering to the fast that in finance you can look back to your previous ticks. i would like to see this in the Players to. When i can’t check the tick @ 2.00am i would like to know if they improved. Ofcourse there are otherway’s, like using excel…but is it really negative or a “to easy way” to let players look back 1/2 ticks?

Regarding to some previews posts about the match engine like said in the main post. To many games are random, losing is part of the game, but the stats should be fixed to it. Having 30 shots vs 2 and lose 1-0 with an average player rating of 8.5 is just weird. And when it happens once or twice a season ok….that’s normal..also in real life. But losing 10 of those will get people frustrated.

I’m a big fan of more tactics, i like to experiment with tacs to see what suits my team the best and against what team i’m playing.
.
Aslo i would like to make a point about Individual Tactics and the replay. If i chance the Individual Tactics to stay back or move back on attack, on a defender, and i see him running around on like AC0 i think there is a bug in the system. Players shouldn’t be walking there if you have those tactics. As far as i have experienced the Individual Tactics is kinda useless regarding the match outcome,, which should not be. It should have affect with like dribble or control. If you say to a defender move forward when on attack you think he eithers dribbles with the ball, pass it along or shoot it away. When you set the tactics to short passing and rare with a player with 90+ dribble and control he shouldn’t easly lose the ball.

Before summer time went in, we had the improtent ticks (in the netherlands) at 9.00am / 13.00pm and 1.00am. This was doable to check, improtent to see player improvements etc.
.
Now we have those ticks at 10am/14pm (which is not so bad) but the 1am tick moved now to 2am which is a pain! Now way i can stay up till 2/2.15 to check the tick cause i have to get up @ 7.30am to go to work. I think more ppl in europe have this.

Can the aggressiveness during friemdly matches be set to 1/2 or 1/3 ? I think players should get injured not so often playing friendly matches

yes but then you have teams that have been since the start and have mega bank accounts and the only reason they do is because they have been here for long enough to capitalize on youth development techniques prior to the changes, amoung other reasons as well.

i think we should implement a MAX transfer list price system where ppl cant be put up for OVER a certain amount

seeing players est value 1.4 million being put up for sale for 23 milion is retarded.
and it screws up the transfer list.
whats the point in having the est value if its not used.

I too is from the MS generation where I played many seasons aswell. As I recall there was more or less the same problem that some tactics simply didn’t work against others. So this isn’t really a new thing. Perhaps it’s just an illustration of how difficult it is to create a working match engine? I don’t know I don’t posses programming skills. As an answer to your post I do not say that the superior team should win 9 out of 10 against the weaker team. What I do say is, that the weaker team shouldn’t be able to beat the stronger team 9 out of 10 because they use a 4-4-2 instead of a 3-5-2. That simply isn’t realistic in my oppinion.
And to you Hank: Even though one doesn’t master the fine art of cooking, buying the best quality of food to work with sure gets you a long way down the road.

So then, you said if I’ve got better defenders than midfield players, you would make it a 4-4-2…

Would the midfield have a “bigger factor” than defense on the final result of a game? Is there one position that is more important than others? Something I must focus on… ?

How do I addapt my team against the opponent? Should I change the formation ? Should I change how the team move around whether I’ve the ball or not? Should I change pass style, how often they pass the ball? Or neither (Shouldn’t care for who I’m playing against)?

With the same set up I beat a team on the “top4”… And lost to the 17th place in the table…
Thats what I’m trying to make sense.

Uhm, I need to correct you :). I (Brest) lost 0-4. I changed my tactics and adapted. I told my friends at Lyon and PSG, what I did in order for them to also beat Napoli :). Like I said before. France needed to be put on the map, and it was in all our best intrest to see french teams come as far as possible.
.
We now have a 4th CL spot :)…..let’s see how long we can keep it…..

I’m really sorry you’ve got an itch. It was not my intention.
However, there are a few reasons why I put your name and “newbie” in the same phrase. RubySoccer was buid on the same concepts of MS with the intention of improving it beyond (Danilo can correct me on this). While it may be true you have played for over a year, it is also true some others here have played since 1999. On this aspect, it does make you a newbie, but of course doesn’t take anything away from your skills as a manager. It’s just a matter of experience.
You are correct regarding your players, they are quality. However you are incorrect regarding the importance of tactics (that being just my opinion). As Henry told you, after the first game he lost with you 0-4, he changed his tactics. The rest you know. RL is full of examples that the notion “the superior should win 9 out of 10” is far from realistic. The change in tactics was the thing that made the difference and you yourself showed the proof. I guess it’s time to try a new thing with your team :)

To continue the current debate I can only say that there are apparently two kinds of managers here: those who likes the player-dimension and those who like the tactical game. My oppinion of the matter is much in line with JakobK. If you can manage to beat a team superior in all aspects, on all positions – that being both primary AND secondary skills – 9 out of 10 games, then it is a bug and not because you are a tactical god. I rest my case.

You are right Dhimitri but I don’t think the reason for PSG success is having those all-around players. If you look to Napoli’s main squad you will find most of them have high values in all attributes… The same with Hertha, Byern and Benfica… I believe the reason for his success must be his tactics and I congratulate him for that. That doesn’t mean the match engine do not need to be improved as I said in my first post and I’m happy that Gabriel agrees the rating sistem is not working. Many of my players has a avarege rating superior than 9, even in the Champions league. In the game I lost against PSG 2 of my 3 defenders had a 10 rating… That should not happen when they allow the oponents to shoot 17 times on target… I believe this is being changed and I’m looking forward for the next improvements.

That is really truth Danilo, we have many more people coming to the forum share their opinion. That is good for the game. Sorry if my English sometimes sucks but I don’t practice it much so it is a little mess (little ou much :D)

I’m still struggling with teh contract renewal.

The player I want to keep now has 0 turns under contract, but when I click on him teh only options I get are:

Fire Player
Transfer List Player
Loan List Player

Please help – he is one of my better players and I’d like to keep him.

No no no, the suggestion was to move all ticks 1h earlier so it would be adjusted to summer time… No more ticks per day, the same ticks 1h earlier so (at least in Europe) we would have the ticks always at the same hours…
