Not sure about the implementation of the full system but the whole competitions with all rounds will definitely be there. We don’t have more countries yet due to lack of users. We don’t want to overload the server with ghost countries, it would make tick times much longer. Anyway, even before having all countries in there we’ll improve international competitions by adding a qualifying round and a group phase.
Cheers!
We have some great plans for the newspaper! All you mentioned will be included (interviews, match results, transfers, rumors, etc). Some friends already volunteered to write the texts for the news, we can get it started ;)
Cheers!
Let’s keep them unbreakable for now to avoid problems and work on the improvements already suggested (minimum number of official matches, level of coaching, etc).
Some players ended up with multiple lines for their friendly statistics. The bug has been fixed but the extra lines will remain for this season.
@Parag: Nice suggestions. The taxes one is something that has been discussed behind the scenes for a while, we’ll probably try that in the future. I had thought about something similar to the degradation cost you mentioned, my idea was that larger stadiums and departments had a chance to degrade every season (lose some seats, go down one level). Having staff people rather than departments was our first idea, but we never thought about having both. How would that work? Sponsor signing is very interesting but as you can imagine, hard to implement. In the current system there is no way to sign sponsors, the value is based on your team’s performance. We may consider sponsor signing in the future, I like the idea.
Looks like we’re not going for a reset, at least not for now. It was good to read so many different opinions and ideas to improve the game. Thank you all!
Now that’s interesting. We already have some informal agreements where I work and it would be great to have such affiliated teams rule. I’ll add this to our list.
Cheers!
I’ve heard this simple feature being asked many times from my colleagues at work. Let me officialy add it to our list :)
Welcome to RubySoccer Parag! Just wanted to add that you have to wait for the next update when your applications will be processed and you receive replies from the teams where you applied.
Cheers!
Sorry guys, game is up and running now. FastTicker’s next tick has been postponed so that game times are not affected. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers!
We appreciate your concern jakobK, it shows you care about the game. The main reason for freezes is not code instability, but chages we add without enough testing. As you may know we have very little time to work on the game and lots of things we want to have implemented as soon as possible, so we end up letting some bugs go through.
You are right, we don’t want this to happen often, it’s not good for the game. We’ll do our best to improve our testing methodology.
Cheers!
Regarding the tactics pages suggestion, you mean something like position M -1 center has an instruction to move forward when the team has the ball instead of saying a specific player on that position has the instruction? If your intention is to keep the tactics if you replace the players positioned there we could do that.
When you send a friendly invitiation you are already being kept in the invitations page instead of going to the team’s page, we changed that recently. And both home and visitor teams get money from friendlies, 50% each, unlike official matches.
We’ll make group stages for international competitions even before we have all countries, people have been asking this for a while :)
Cheers!
Miscellaneous:
-players statistics will start being stored on friendlies and displayed on player statistics pages
-Match report: ball icon right beside players who scored
-Login page: link to our Orkut community
Loans cannot be terminated before the agreed period anymore. People could use this feature to transfer money between teams as you had to pay a fee when breaking loan contracts. If you guys feel this is an important feature we may put it back in the future along with a better control system.
The maximum keeper rating is directly related to the number of goals conceived. 19 goals would make his maximum rating to be 0.5. A tactic based on ratings is interesting, we’ll consider that.
Right now I don’t feel like resetting after reading what we have so far. Reducing the players skills is an option, but it’s not that fair. I think we can wait a little longer before deciding what to do, if anything ;)
Yes I have Filipe, but I don’t want to spread our managers even more. Anyway, the ideas for no resetting are also interesting and could have a similar effect. Let’s keep the discussion going, it’s very interesting :)
Cheers!
@Philipp: the total money available in the game is growing too fast. I agree it should increase but in my opinion we need to adjust player wages, sponsorship and merchandise income. We’ll end up with a few rich teams again but hopefully in a more reasonable manner. We won’t reset every time the game become unbalanced, only if it happens because drastic changes were made :)
@jakobK: you guys please make sure we don’t make the game boring ;)
We’ll probably add national teams in the future, it’s worth trying. If everything goes as planned the reset would be on season 21 start (FastTicker) which would be season 11 start on MediumTicker. Otherwise it would be postponed to seasons 23 and 12 respectively. If it’s a total reset we could do that as soon as we are ready.
If we do a total reset it would be easier to keep the manager ranking for team selection purpose, even though random is more fair in my opinion. We won’t have enough teams for CL with group stages yet, but with or without more countries we are planning to add group stages anyway.
Total reset: I guess it would be harder to convince everybody, but it would be easier than a partial reset. If more people prefer a total reset please let us know in your reply here.
16 years old players: it would be a bad thing for the market in the beginning, but I think we’d be ok. There is not a good formula to generate partially developed players in the new system. We could come up with a way to do that, of course, but we’re not willing to if it’s not worth.
C’mon, who else? :)
Hello guys!
After the considerable amount of changes in the player evolution system we’ve been thinking about a partial reset. It will take too long for the new system make a difference, as there are lots of young stars from the old system. Besides that, economy is becoming too unbalanced and the amount of money available is growing too fast, we have some new rules planned for wages, cpu teams transfers and could do some improvement on merchandise and sponsorship earnings before the reset.
You may be asking yourselves, why “partial” reset? Well, not everything will be reset. We’ll keep:
-managers and teams history, including titles
-teams will stay in whatever division they are
-managers will stay with their teams
-season counting
-did I forget anything?
We’ll reset:
-managers ranking (maybe)
-teams money (all the same)
-stadiums (all the same)
-departments (0 for all)
-country ranking (all the same, 70 average youths)
-players (all teams will get 2 keepers, 6 defenders, 6 midfielders, 4 attackers and 6 youths, everybody with 16 years old as they were all new youths)
-board opinion (50% for all)
-did I forget anything?
For now it’s just a suggestion that we feel would be healthy for the game. As a bonus we could add a few more countries and/or divisions. It’s time for a next step. What do you think? ;)
Cheers!
Hmmm, I need to take a look at that, if it turns out to be common I’ll make some changes to the match engine. Thanks for letting us know.
Cheers!
Hi Juracy,
There is no easy way to keep track of player evolution. For my players I have an excel spreadsheet with their skills. There are plans to provide coaching reports saying when and what your players have improved, but there is no current estimate for when this enhancement will be ready.
Cheers!
Some simple suggestions implemented:
-After sending a friendly invitation you stay in the same page instead of going to the team info page.
-Added team logo beside the team name on competition titles page
Cheers!
Forgot to mention in the players development announcement, all existing players that still have points to improve will need 30 experience points for the next improvement. Afterwards the new rules will apply.
Cheers!
New player development system (it’s long but worth reading). The first part is a copy of what I posted in the “IMPORTANT – Player Improvement” topic, so if you’ve already seen it there you can jump right to the paragraph after the example.
-Coaching will be changed so that it does not influence how many skill points the player earns at once, but how often he improves
-When improving a player will earn from 1 to 5 skill points
-Different match types will give the player different amounts of experience points: 1 for friendlies, 3 for league and cup matches, 4 for UEFA Cup and Sudamericana, 5 for CL and Libertadores and 6 for Club World Cup
-In order to improve the player will need something around 15 to 60 points, depending on the coaching level and team division
-Second division youths will start at the same level as a first division youth. The difference between divisions will be the amount of points necessary for the next player improvement, as stated above
-Starting on 16 players will receive only part of their potential every year, 10% in the average so that their maximum can be reached around 25 years old. Of course there will be players receiving more or less potential per year allowing some to be young stars and some to reach their maximum near 30.
-Keepers will stop improving tackle and shooting while the other players won’t improve keeping
-After reaching his maximum a player will have increased each skill by 20 points, in the average, therefore the average total points increased in all skills will be 120 for keeper and 140 for everybody else
EXAMPLE: Consider a new youth defender, 16 y.o.. Suppose he receive 10% of his potential points, it means he will have a total of 14 points to increase on his skills. He plays some matches during the season and improves 3 times, earning 2, 4 and 5 points, respectively. There are 3 unused points that will be carried over to the next season. Now he turns 17 and receives more 5% of potential, 7 points. He has now reached 15% of his total potential points and has 10 points to improve. Let’s say he plays some matches and improves twice, 5 points in each. He has no more potential points left for this season, so even if he plays enough matches he won’t increase his skills until he is 18 y.o. and receive more potential points. And so his career goes.
For existing players all potential is already there, so the only thing that will change is the improvement speed as stated above. Some players who have already reached their maximum in the old system may start improving again in the new system.
We think these changes are for the best. There are lots of strategies that can be applied regarding player development right now. Some may think that coaching 10 is useless as it may improve players faster than necessary. It’s partially true for your own players, but if you hire a player from a team with low level coaching there may be a lot of potential to unleash. Also, high coaching will help you have top players around 25 years old instead of almost 30. For small teams this new system should also be better, as second division youths start at the same level as first division and those who can’t afford top level coaching won’t suffer from never getting top players, they will only take longer to become top players.
Enjoy!
Two small enhancements:
- manager ranking displayed beside manager name on team info page
- formation name displayed on formation invalid status message
It’s done and already applied in the game. Official announcement on the way.
Thanks for all comments and opinions here!
Hi Alexander,
Youth players takes from 60 to 276 turns to ask for a contract. After they ask you have 12 turns to answer. There is no way to shorten or influence this time.
Cheers!
We’ll add minimum coaching level for loans in the future. After the new improvement system is in place that shouldn’t be a big deal as poor coaching will only cause slower improvement, but if the loaning team uses your player on official matches it may be better than yourself using the player on friendlies if the coaching difference is not that big.
Update: almost done with coding the new rules, no tests have been made so far on my local environment. Maybe I’m done today, maybe next year :)
