I’m currently playing with three strikers (95-94-90 shooting) and didn’t score goals on 7 of the last 11 league games.

Hi Gabriel,

I can’t agree that 12% of board satisfaction after six wins and one draw on seven games is realistic.
I must say once again that I don’t think this criteria is fair to those who manage to build great squads. They’re always penalized, because even if you have the best squad in your country, it’s 99,999% certain (and natural!) that you won’t win each and every game. It doesn’t happen in real life, but it seems that we’re expected to do that on RubySoccer :)

Why don’t you think about evaluating at the end of the season the level of accomplishment of the board expectations? Because the way things are right now, it doesn’t seem impossible to win the championship or the champions league and be fired…
This seems much more realistic for me. Real life football and business world work like this; they give you a goal, and you are judged on whether you accomplished or not. No one cares if you win 2-0 or 5-0… as long as you win.

Hi guys :)

Are you sure that the Board isn’t too harsh nowadays?

I’ve been out for the last 18 days, on holidays, so this season was lost right at the beggining. Thing is, I won Superliga 4 times on the last 5 seasons, 1 National Cup (and 2 lost finals), and managed to get the 3rd place on this season’s league (not bad, given that I did 3 or 4 logins…). The Board says “We are not happy”. Tell me… am I about to be sacked? :>

Thing is: I’m not ready to lose my team, with some top class players (100, 97, 94…), dozens of millions of dollars (it’s dollars, right? :D), and after 11 seasons of planning and winning on most of them. It doesn’t sound fair and, personally, I wouldn’t have the motivation to pick another team and take the risk of ending in the same place… I agree that best squads = bigger expectations, but… you don’t get an excellent squad without effort and, why not?, success (unless you’re cheating, of course :D). So if you did all the hard work to build a top squad, that shouldn’t work against you.

At the very least, managers shouldn’t be penalized by the team’s underachievements when they’re on holidays for such a long time…

Thank you for reading!

I think that Speed should decrease with aging, and Stamina should take a little longer to increase on older players… as they get older, managers would have to “spare” them a bit, as they would get tired quicker than young players.

Not so sure about the other skills; as Rafael said, it’s reasonable to expect that some skills are maintained (or even improved) until retirement… Keeping and Passing, for instance.

Not sure if this is a bug, but…

One of my players was transfer listed with a price of 3,5M. I had one offer of 2M, and decreased the price (it’s 3M now). I do not want to sell the player for less than 3 millions!

The player used to appear on the transfer list like this:

Selling players

Fábio José
-————————————

Since then, it changed to:

Selling players

Fábio José
turns left: 2
-————————————

on the right side of the page, there’s the following information:

Selected Player

Fábio José

transfer price: $3,000,000

Current Negotiations

Boavista ($2,000,000)
-————————————

Did the indication of “2 turns left” appeared due to the price change? Please, tell me that he’s not going away for less than the value I’m asking! :)

Thanks.

I see a problem on removing all second divisions – we’d lose the thrill and motivation of avoiding relegation. The weaker teams would fight for nothing…

Not to mention the need of a reset, of course.

Are you talking about rescission clauses? They’re not mandatory. Some contracts have them, some don’t.

Anyway, the situation I mentioned is real and was made public by both sides, so I guess it really happens.

I agree, it’s something I wouldn’t do: set a price and make it higher as soon as someone beats it.
In your place, I wouldn’t buy the player – it’s a matter of principle for me.

Anyway, I think it’s up to us, managers, to decide what to do on these situations…

I agree it’s not correct, thorpedo, but things like that happen in real life… Three years ago, the deal was closed between Benfica and Liverpool, Simão had agreed terms with the english side, and he was already inside the plane getting ready to lift off to England when Benfica’s president called him back and canceled the transfer :P Sellers change their mind very easily…

Here in Rubysoccer it happened to me once, but it was nothing that a little conversation between buyer and seller couldn’t overcome. :)

Just my two cents.

Everytime I log in, I click “FastTicker” and it redirects me to a page that tells me the following:

“Oops! It looks like there was an error. Please try again (this may be related to a server restart / high load).”

Logging out and logging in over and over, it always ends that way. What can be happening?

Cheers :)

I got this message while trying to put one of my players on the transfer list.

“Cannot transfer list player. Our squad is already too small”

Thing is, I have 25 players on my squad… is this normal?

Cheers!

5.0 seems a neutral rating to me… 0 shots = 0 saves, so you can’t say he played well or badly, can you? ;)

Just my two cents.

I have a feeling that millionaire teams are something from he past… I don’t have half the money I used to have, and the transfer market is frozen, so finances are likely to decrease even more :)

I think that, with or without penalties, a forward playing as a defender should always be weak… otherwise, it’s just a question of time until everybody stops signing defenders and midfielders :)

I’ve been noticing that unusual formations aren’t the only problem. Some of the game’s most successful teams play with traditional formations, but using forwards on every position of the field, with some midfielders on the mix. Other teams are even more avantgarde :>, playing with 10 forwards.

For instance, it seems that playing 3-4-3 with 3 midfielders – 4 forwards – 3 forwards works better than the same tactic with 3 defenders – 4 midfielders – 3 forwards. Seems obvious that something is not right :)

Any ideas on why nobody is buying players? Is it because everyone is spending their money on stadium improvements?

We see good players listed with really low prices and nobody bids them…

Cheers.

On 30 league matches this season, I got 0×0 nine times! :)

Boavista, for instance, tied no less than 17 games.

I think that could give us some more help on figuring what the team isn’t doing how we think it should. But take your time, of course :)

Sorry if these questions had already been answered, but…

:: is there any influence of the results sequence on the team performance? I mean: if my team loses 4 games on a row, are my chances of winning the next game different comparing to a scenario where I won the last 4 games?

:: Do the players have any kind of hidden attribute (such as morale, for instance) that boosts/penalizes their performance? This could explain why regularly some players put on stronger exhibitions than other players who have stronger skills (assuming that both are playing on their natural positions).

:: Looking at what happened on the last two seasons at the Portuguese first division, it seems to me that there are too many tied matches – maybe you could check that and do some “fine tuning”, if that turns to be your opinion too.

Thank you :)

The biggest mistery for me is… As my squad gets stronger, with better players, my results get worse and worse. I keep on losing games against teams with players that, comparing to mine, are much weaker (something like, in average, 10 units per player on the main skill).

The tactic is the same that gave me good results in the past – even though I’ve experimented a lot, with no results whatsoever.

Forwards with shooting 87, 83, 82… All defenders with tackling 87 and 86, a keeper with keeping 91, and I still manage to end the championship having more goals against than goals scored. How come?

Stamina always 99 or 100.

I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong, and it’s hard to fix things when we don’t know the reason why they’re not working. Sometimes I look at the match reports, at my squad and my opponents, and the matches seem randomly generated… I quited from following the market, as I see no results on improving the squad…

Cheers :)

It’s yet to be proven that your team is stronger than mine, we’ve never played against each other :)

Though my initial squad was weaker than yours, as Portugal was on the tail of the ranks on day 0…

The problem isn’t about paying 1.600.000. I have, right now, enough money to pay those wages for two seasons even if I make absolutely no income on that period. That is the real problem.

I think you should focus – like Hugo Celso has been saying – on fixing the details that allow us to have way much more money than we need. Because if we have the money, there’s no logic reason to forbidden us to spend it…

Market should be always free. If you’re able to generate more income, it’s only natural that you can spend more…

That criteria will penalize the best managers. In real world, players want to be on the strongest clubs, not on the weakest :)

Thanks for your reply, Gabriel, and for the openness that you and Daniel always show to discuss the logic behind the game :)

Following my previous post, it’s no surprise that I’m going to pick possibility 3), because IMHO it’s the most fair – or the least penalizing for the ones who had bad luck on their player’s sides.

About the improvement related to player’s positions/sides… I’d like to express my opinion, and expose my situation too.

Looking at my squad, I see the following distribution:

13 L players
5 C
3 R

Making things worse, especially concerning defense and midfield, my first squad looks like this:

4 defenders, all of them L
4 midfielders (3 L + 1 C)
2 forwards (1 L + 1 R, nothing to worry about here)

This means that I have half season to rebuild almost entirely my squad… I suppose sides were randomly assigned for all the players on the database, but that’s a solution which leads to unfair situations – some managers have well balanced squads, while others will have to sell 1/2 of their squad and replace it.

My opinion is that all teams should have their player’s sides assigned in some way which would assure that every squad has the same balance between right, left and centre players. The way things are right now – and I repeat that I’m assuming that it is 100% random – means that pure luck decides who will have to spend several millions and who won’t have to change a thing, because until today everybody signed players without guessing that one season (or less) later they could be useless.

Thanks for reading such a long post (for one minute I thought I was Celso :D).
