No, only the best qualified teams in the leagues. We know that there are some rules like this and others like cup winners in some countries should go to UEFA but we’ve decided to simplify things a little bit. I hope this doesn’t take fun out of the game ;-)

Cheers!

Currently we’re using brazilian rules for all leagues: number of victories → goals for – goals against → goals for.

We have plans to use specific rules for each country…in fact I was supposed to do that a couple season ago :-( … but don’t worry, it will be done, for sure :-)

Cheers!

Yes, Ricardo. If you’re talking about replacements due to injured or suspended players it has been implemented last week (or the week before, not sure). If you’re talking about replacements due to injuries during the matches we’ve always been replacing the injured player by someone in the same position.

Cheers!

Whats is the rule to take positions when two or more teams have the same points? I think the normal could be to see the match between these teams (this is how Spanish league works).

Is the “position for position” replacement in place already? I’ve lost the count of how many matches the cpu turned my 4-4-2 into a 5-3-2…

Cheers.

oh-oh, sorry Hugo, it seems that I didnt pay enough attention to your situation. Well, right now the only way to achieve the result you want is by creating strategies for all the combinations of possible events which may happen, like I have described in a previous post. But I will try to come up with something to make this easier. I am planning to work on this screen soon, so I hope we can have this shortly.

cheers!

We now have a tick progress bar. You don’t have to refresh the tick screen, the percentage is automatically updated every minute.

Well, I think we already have the “Anyone injured”, divided by goalkeeper/defender/midfielder/attacker, which is good because depending on the injured player position we can create a rule to replace him with another player belonging to the same position, and keeping our formations.
The problem with the red cards is that we can’t keep the same formation, we have to adapt to the forced circunstances. I was giving my intention as an example but I was trying to achieve more flexibility in my suggestion, in my case I choosed to spare an attacker to replace a red carded goalkeeper/defender/midfielder, but these options vary from manager to manager, from formation to formation.
That’s why I proposed a Red Carded Attacker, Red Carded Defender, Red Carded Midfielder, Red Carded Goalkeeper, in a way that we can choose which player leaves the game, which player enters the game, to the same position the red card happened, these could also be a new check option in the existing red card events.
Thanks for the effort and cheers…

So here is what I will do:

1. At the forums, if you click your name you will see a list of your donations (that will be PRIVATE, only you will be able to see it)
2. At the donations page, you will see a public list of donations. No names, just the dates and values.

Is somebody not comfortable with that approach? You have 1 week to answer :)

Well, then I guess we need 2 new conditions: “RedCard to anyone” and “Anyone injured” :). Piece of cake, I will add that with the other suggestions we have.

Firefox rox :D . But we have some IE lovers, so I am planning to make it work on IE6 too, as soon as I can. I will probably have to do it using another approuch, since the new version of the approuch I was using seems to not work at all.

cheers!

We used to have some content on this wiki before migrating to our current host. To be honest I don’t think it was very useful. It is good that you mentioned that cause I’m willing to create some sort of game help but we’ve not decided what format to use. Do you guys think a wiki format is a good ideia or do you prefer some sort of screen by screen help with an explanation about what is the purpose and what can you do on each screen?

Cheers!

Maybe an active/inactive status for each rule would do it, right? Sounds simple to do. :-)

Just one more thing to add. I miss something to suspend a rule for a particular match.

I tried to adapt your suggestions but it didn’t work very well :) what I need to do is a bit the opposite of the suggestion, I want to replace a specific player (an attacker) in case of any of the other 10 gets a red card, this part is ok, but I need the new player (the one in from the bench) positioned where the red card happened, so that i can keep the formation, sparing the position I choosed to replace (the attacker).
I really think this would be usefull to keep our formations, and the generic options would help, at least, we would gain more flexibility.

Cheers

I like the idea behind Thorpedo`s suggestion. Nowadays, we are sure we can keep the player just paying what he wants. It should have some random factor to the players decision.

Is there a wiki somewhere?

When I click on the icon to bring me to the wiki, I end up on a blank wiki page… here:

http://www.rubysoccer.com/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page

I’ve tried creating a log in and using it… no change.

???

Danilo,

If you want to make a public page with a list of donators… I’d use their “game name” (not real names), and include date and amount of donation.

If a player doesn’t want even their “game name” on the public list, then use “anonymous” for their donation. But I think a public page could be a nice thing… and a good reminder of when I last contributed, and how much… and maybe it will encourage others to get their name on the “donator list”.

Javier is right! The very LEAST we can do is cover the server costs!!!

I just donated $25 to cover this month. If 12 guys do that, we’re good for the year.

I know not everyone can afford it… but give something, if you can.

And you guys that CAN afford it… and you know who you are!… break open the wallet, get your credit card out, and make a donation.

The game is worth it, and it’ll make you feel better.

I do! :)

Cheers!

We’re still not sure about international teams…it could be a good thing in the future, we’ll definitely go back to this discussion at some point. Thanks for your suggestion Polat, it’s always a pleasure to have new users posting in the forums :-)

It is something we could do, but I have some reasons for not doing that:

-we’d have to rearrange national and international cup matches to conform with this new structure
-it would be harder to schedule friendlies with teams using different “calendars”
-if you changed to a team with a “calendar” different than the team you previously managed you have to get used to this new calendar

As a positive thing I’m happy to tell you and everybody else that our tick time has improved after a few changes. The last league tick on FastTicker took around 3000 seconds, much less than the 3800 seconds it was taking lately. If you consider that we still have room for improvement and that Danilo was working in the database structure at the same time the tick was running we can expect it to be a little bit faster. Let’s wait for the next league tick to see the results.

Cheers!

ok if you want to lower the tick time i have relised that all the games are on 1 tick, example in every league the matches are played on tick 18. would it help if we spread it out. then we can get the turkish league yehh.

i think it will be a step forward if we start bringing in internationals into the game. i think the top 50 or so in the managers rankings at the start of a season should be assigned a team or even there choice. rubysoccer would be muuch more interesting like this because i think the managers rankings is a bit useless. just an ideaa..

Cheerss…

I’ll be honest with you Polat, I really want to add more countries to the game as soon as possible, I haven’t done that for 2 reasons:

1) We don’t have that many users yet so most teams would be CPU controlled
2) The tick time could increase too much, specially when league matches are played

We need to address problem number 2 first and lower the tick time to a reasonable value (we’re working on it). Afterwards we can try to advertise RubySoccer to attract more users. Believe me, I’m looking forward to it, having smaller countries like Venezuela and Cyprus will really add a new challenge to the game :-)

Cheers!
