Team name change poll results
34% – Yes, go for it.
30% – No, new teams should be introduced only when we have new dimensions, countries or divisions.
28% – Yes, but if the team is managed the manager has to agree.
08% – Yes, but all managers in the team’s country have to agree.
Grouping all the “Yes” options we have 70% against 30% of “No” answers. Grouping the ones who want some kind of control on the renaming it’s 36% against 34% who just want it done regardless. As a result the name change will happen but we will always consult the team’s manager (if it’s a managed team) or all the managers in the team’s country, when deemed relevant.
Thanks for your participation! A new poll will come soon about how detailed should the Evolution Stage coach report be.
Next feature poll
31% – Better player match rating calculation
31% – Coaching: Evolution Stage report should provide a ball park figure on points left to improve instead of a vague text
19% – Star system change: players become stars gradually and remain as such for longer
11% – Something else
8% – Foreign players adaptation period: performance penalty until they’re fully adapted
We had the exact same number of votes for the top two options above, so we’re doing them both next. I’ll probably work on the coach report change first as it should be quicker.
I have noticed that too and I think that comes from the fact we don’t spend too much time improving CPU teams logic. Just to give a few examples:
-CPU teams in general don’t use very effective formations and they have no memory of which ones they’ve used and if it had a good result
-they “change their mind” quite often about which players to keep and sell
-the balance of good players vs promising players is not very good, too many reasonably good players are sold / let go
I usually ask myself what is the priority of enhancing CPU team behaviour vs improving something that matters to human managers and I end up working on something else, but we may be neglecting them too much. I was working on a change to make CPU teams use formations that were currently in use by human managers, but I put that on hold, afraid they would be much stronger. Anyway, what is your view on CPU behaviour improvements?
I noticed that CPU-teams often have big variance in their performance over seasons. For example at fastticker:
Zwolle
This season probably champion.
Last season: Ends Eredivisie on position 14.
Helmond Sport
This season, fighting against relegation
Last season: Ends in second on Europa League.
Groningen
This season, bottom place
Last season, third place
There hardly seems be be any correlation between last seasons standing and this seasons (for the cpu teams). How comes?
@Hounddog there is no specific advantage for big country teams when playing against small country ones, the only thing that counts is player quality and tactics. Playing against CPU teams is very different from playing against good managers. When playing in Croatia in FastTicker a few seasons ago I consistently won the league and national cup but could never progress much on CL. I’m not saying your tactics and strategy are terrible, I’m sure they’re not otherwise even CPU teams would beat you :-)
The new scouting system generated some mixed feelings but it will probably remain for now, we don’t want to continuously change the same thing (unless it’s clearly broken) as we have other important things to improve. I can’t say much about selling players in MediumTicker as I’ve just recently come back to it. I’ve sold a few players but had to fire a couple as no teams seemed interested. Selling towards the end of the season can be harder as lots of teams may have exhausted their transfer budget.
Anyway, we’re in the same country now and I’m curious to see how next season will go and how much of a challenge CL will be. Just be nice to the “newcomer” ;-)
Cheers
I just sold 15 players in two ticks (Veendam, MT). But maybe that’s a bonus when you start to manage a club?
Hi,
I have run a team in a small country for many seasons now. I have built up a powerhouse. However, I continually get beaten by inferior teams from big countries. I’ve been shocked at some of the results over many seasons.
Each group of players in my team matches up favourably with the significant majority of clubs in the game.
Is it just that my tactics and strategy is terrible? I dont think that I suck, I do great in the National League and National Cups and my Manager Ranking is consistently high.
Going to a big country and building up a new team from scratch is going to take too long. Especially with the way scouting works now. tbh, there’s only 1 team I would be interested in, but its always got a manager and looks to be a bit of a mess. Even if it becomes available, I dont know how to sell players. Nor scout for new talent as efficiently as I used to be able to do.
Regards,
Hounddog
Hello,
it feels like selling players is impossible now. I have a 90 tackle defender I want to sell as I want more space to develop some young players. However, he is rated at over 1mil but even at 800k he is not getting any attention.
Do I just have to fire the players I dont want? Used to be good to get some money back for them from computer controlled teams.
Regards,
Hounddog
Excellent, I forward to this.
I hear you, and this happens because our simulation has a number of gaps – otherwise it wouldn’t take just some seconds to run each game and generate all of the content that is generated as a result. We will see if something can be done at least about special moments like the goal :)
Yes this is great, speed 4 was about perfect for what I was looking for.
My only criticism would be that you can see when someone shoots and the keeper saves it, but when someone scores you can’t actually see the goal. Player has the ball and then next thing it’s a kick off, even if you watch it at the slowest speed. It would be nice if you could actually see the ball going into the net, otherwise every time there is a shot that you can see, you know that it won’t be a goal as when you can see the ball go on target it’s a save at present. Other than that, great work.
Just spent some time improving the Match Replays. It should be easier to see what is happening, and also to control the speed of the replay.
Just made some changes. Have a look and let me know what you think…
cheers
Definitely. I also thought about that but decided to do something about it later, as it was late and I had to sleep. I will also throw in another interesting feature along once I get to it.
Is it possible to slow down the replays? Even the slowest or normal speed is too quick for my personal preference. Could there be a slider bar so that managers can choose the speed at which they watch the replay?
Match Replays have been re-written to use javascript and html5. This is a first draft version of this screen. It has literally been written in a few hours just to replace the java applet, which was not working. The next step is to make it nicer and responsive (so it works on mobile phones).
edit: just added a slider to the screen. I think it will make it easier for you guys to use it.
Just wanted to comment that so far the new status and transfer system are going great!
CPU teams will now start making offers to non-transfer listed players. This concludes the cycle of changes related to this feature, we’ll know evaluate how things go and adjust later on if necessary. You can expect a poll soon asking about the next big thing you’d like to see in RubySoccer.
Cheers
Yep, noticed that after some changes I’d done last week. I’ve fixed it coming to work today but didn’t have the time to put the changes in the game yet, should happen in the next few hours.
Thanks!
Not really withdrawn, the player has just been sold to someone else.

Star players that provide hiring bonus now increase the impact of your transfer proposals. Similarly, they also help reduce the impact of transfer proposals your players receive. In addition to that I’ve fixed the recalculation of the player overall status after a transfer, now it happens immediately.
Cheers
Ah, makes sense, thanks for the explanation.
The higher ranked country is in relation to the player’s country, not to his club’s country. That means your club also qualifies to satisfy the requirement as Holland is 3 positions above Uruguay in the ranking. I know, it’s a bit confusing :-D
http://rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/645883
Country requirement: Higher ranked country, but he was loaned to a club in the same league. So not to a higher ranked country….
Improvements to player status:
-Any transfer proposal, even for listed players, may impact the overall status of the player in question and of your own players
-Clicking on the player name in the team players status screen takes you to the player status screen instead of player info
-Player status screen now tells you the current impact of proposals to that player’s overall status (if greater than 0%)
Improvements to transfers/loans/free players screen:
-When entering the page it will by default load the transfer listed players
-It is not possible to sort by age
-Bug fix related to sorting
Miscellaneous:
-Every turn all countries without any human managed clubs will be deactivated and one of them will be randomly made active. In other words, there will always be exactly one active country without managers.
New improvements deployed:
-When players from CPU teams receive unsolicited transfer offers the team may decide to renew his contract in order to drop the offers, if the player is considered valuable to the team
-Retiring players will never have their overall status reduced to 0%
Thanks
The status is low because the player is tempted by the existing transfer offers received (and also may be affected by any offers you’re doing for other players that are not transfer listed). Maybe I should made this information visible in the status screen to be more clear. If you want to keep this player one thing you can do is renew his contract, all offers will go away and nobody can make an offer for him in the next 72 turns.
I think there’s a bug on the status of one of my players (Pasquale Amelli – medium ticker http://rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/524188)
Overall Matches Wage Teammates Team Country
15% 41% 59% 50% 70% 50%
If the lower status is 41%, how come the overall status is 15%? Isn’t it wrong?
Thank you
Regarding the CPU teams role in making and receiving offers for non-listed players
82% – CPU should both make and receive offers for non-listed players
08% – CPU should receive and deal with the offers but not make them
06% – CPU should only make the offers, not receive them
04% – No Answer
00% – Offers for non-listed players should be made and received only by human managed teams
I’m glad we were already heading in the direction the majority has chosen :-)
