I think you don’t understand…it will not be profitable even with 1000 managers. Even if we pay 10$ per month. I now start to understand Peter Strand because he saw no business opportunity in MS (though the managers’ dedication to the game was higher than now with Ruby, due MS old age).
Just imagine:
1) there is a soccer management game
2) it costs 5$ per month
3) it is close to reality and represents 100 football countries with 3000 clubs to manage
4) there is 1 M.U., 1 Juventus, 1 Barcelona, 1 CSKA and it HAS A MANAGER
5) Someone pays 5$ a month and manages Milan and wins CL, you pay 5$ a month and have to struggle for UEFA Cup place in Armenia League (if the game world has many managers)
- so, what do you think ? Is it alright ? I guess not now with good pc’s, high competition and low community involvement.
If you think I am wrong, correct me, please.
Now let’s think how to make it more interesting for the managers.
1) Maybe leave only several top countries and all the international competitions ?
2) If there are 100 people who want to manage Juve and 0 people who want to manage Ravenna, it is easier to use fantasy clubs ?
x-x-x-x-x
You see, people like to win. Everyone does. Look at Ruby – if people get fired or relegated they are more likely to leave the game than those managers who fight for the title and cups. Now….how in the world is it possible to let everyone become a champion in a game like Rubysoccer ? Think of it, I guess the solution will earn a lot of money.
Dhimitri has a good point, that’s the only explanation for some recent results :D
Anyway, the match engine must be tweaked, as we all know ;)
thanx:)
Fixed!
True…it was probably my fault, fixed a couple security bugs yesterday, looks like it’s so secure now that nobody can offer contracts :D
Thanks, guys.
Yeah, this small change was announced only on twitter (which has now the official latest news source in the login page as well).
Regarding the -3 penalty, it is only a simplification of the mentality / travel disorder implications. In the future we’ll probably have more complex calculations that should influence players performance during the match.
Looking into it, thanks for reporting!
hell… CPU teams are lucky… this bug doesn’t seem to have any effect on them…
it wasn’t announced, but gabriel sort of said that in this thread.

check the first comment in fourth page.
as far that i know you don’t lose 3 points, but the home playing team gains 3.
but still i think travelling teams should lose rather than the home team gaining it. not sure by how much though…
same… server is fing up lately eh ?
@Nirabdha
I think your suggestion is screwing us up :P
A (-3) punishment hurts a team more than a (+3) rewards it. The difference stands in the percentages between Before and After the rule is applied:
Let’s say both teams have100 pts in their natural state. If we use the +3 rule, then the home team will get an extra 30 pts for a total of 130.
Gain=130/100=77%. It means the home team has strengthened by 30%
If we apply the -3 rule then the team will lose a 30 pts to a total of 70
Loss=100/70=143%, which means traveling team is 43% weaker then it’s natural state.
Of course, differences in percentages is smaller in RS because numbers involved (a team’s excel value) are bigger
.
The application of the (-3) rule on the traveling goalie (if it is actually applied) is even more so devastating, because his main ability is more so important than that of an outfielder. No wonder, my poor Ribas got perforated 7 times from three quarters of the pitch (that’s like shooting from 30 meters away)
I am having this problem as well. I try to make a contract offer to a free transfer player but the negotiating contract offer doesn’t register.
Travel fatigue/weariness would only really be a factor with long distance travel to get to games. This though is generally overcome by teams in real life by travelling in advance of the game to allow for player rest, recovery and acclimatising, instead of travelling to the venue just before the game on game day.
The home crowd support thing is why I eluded to having player mentality changes. Home crowds would improve mentality, while being away would decrease mentality.
In the end I was trying to put forward a simplified approach to solve the issue, as complexity gives rise to more areas where things could go wrong.
i am not able to offer contract to players on free transfers. tried to hire some
doesn’t show any error, and doesn’t happen anything too… 24 players on squad, 2 loaned out… i still have 4 more slots to fill in along with two transfer-out negotiations seemingly taking ages to complete.
EDIT:
Tried both, using ENTER key and the mouse button
there are factors like travel disorder, fatigue etc which come into play plus you already mentioned the mentality thing. then the lack of home crowd supporting them, they might just be short of their 100% could be another reason…
combining all those could be substantial, but i cannot say how we reached the figure 3.

i like philip leiback’s suggestion of using certain percentage rather than a fixed 3. and may be less or no reduction at all for experienced players and more reduction for younger players.
Currently as I understand it players are receiving a -3 point penalty on player skills when playing an away game. What I don’t understand is why would a players skills diminish when playing an away game, his skills would remain the same whether at home or away. The difference between a home game and an away game would be player mentality. A player at home would be more offensive in nature, while away the player may play more defensively.
eg.
Home games: MC0 would equal MC+1, MC-1 would equal MC0, MC+1 would equal AC-1
Away games: MC0 would equal MC-1, MC-1 would equal DC+1, MC+1 would equal MC0
P.S. I didn’t know if I should post this here or in game suggestions.
This is a weird bug, found accidentally. When i try to check the team Charlton Athletic i get the following error: “RubySoccer System Error
Oops! It looks like there was an error. Please try again (this may be related to a server restart / high load).”
but its ok with other EPL clubs, although did just some random checking.
Link for charlton athletic http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/team_info/203
And also the same error shows up in news paper articles navigation when i want to move to the next page of articles.
Im real allright :)
i focus mainly on improving my team, and have no clue on how the tactics works so i get beaten in all important matches :)
So if any of you out there have a way of helping me beat Hertha it would be very appreciated :)
Kind regards
number 2 :)
does that mean you took my suggestion:)
thanx
In fact i was also about to mention this one but just stopped short of doing so… ( happened just after i got a new better goal keeper and a new better defender) anyone never got past me 4 before in primera division…

I know guys, all of a sudden lots of goals are happening, even without changes to the match engine. The only thing that changed is that home team does not receive the +3 bonus anymore, but visitor teams receive a -3 penalty. Is that a drastic change that would result in more goals? I don’t believe so :)
Yeah, lots of things to consider. One of the biggest problems is have few cpu teams x having lots of countries :D
Even though I believe more countries would attract more people so we should be ok.
Bordo 8 × 5 Strasbourg
4-4-2 formation 3-4-3
50% possession 50%
23 shots 28
21 shots on target 27
94% accurrate passes 90%
43% effective tackles 51%
4 corners 5
5 offsides 1
11 fouls
This is utterly ridiculous. And I don’t mean the score as a whole. Almost all Bordo’s goals were LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG shots…..
Something’s got to give here
Update on Hugo Daniel Candeias: SOLD
Bought by a CPU team:) thanks Ituano ;)
SOLD:)
For the first time i saw someone being bought by a CPU team:)
Damm the transfer market is crap these days! Come on guys..spend your money!
I agree with Vaughn, if there were more countries, if the game was developed and if all of the teams were human-controlled, then I would start thinking about possibilities, unitl then, just keep it as it is
if all teams where full with managers i would consider paying, with the game still in development and 50% of the teams cpu controlled…sorry but i’m not gonne pay for that monthly..
When the game “goes gold”, and it MUST become a paid game, it will be better. Though even 300 managers pauing 5$ per month will give only 1500$ which can cover only server costs and…perfect Brazilian coffee =) Have you thought about making this game profitable ? What are your ideas ? Maybe some facebook applications or iphone clients ?? I want this game to evolve and I think the developers deserve some decent money for their job.
Guys, we all are living in the 21st century and everyone older than kindergarten has a credit card or other online payment options. This game is currently an investment of the developers who spend their money, time, ideas and dreams on it. Some of us are making donations (I don’t) but as for me, I think that donation is a bad idea. I also don’t like the ADs because I never click on google ads or those “marrow transplant” or “fantasy American football games”.
I am not an IT guy or someone who has his own server, but at the moment I am an iphone user and from time to time I read articles about iphone game developers earning HUGE money (100,000$ and more) selling their games and also selling ad space in their games. I’ve read that some guy had about 3$ for every 1000 views.
And I’ve also read somewhere that now Apple lets the developers make games with monthly subscriptions. As for now, I don’t know any other online soccer management games on iphone. Of course, iphone adaptation will maybe change the game a lot, but I what if 10000 people download it for 3$ and you will get 70% – more than 20000$. At least enough to start talks with possible investors (for example, even I wouldn’t mind to become a co-investor of a POPULAR and PROFITABLE project, even if it is 10000 miles away from my home).
Any ideas ?
