@Filipe: Interesting point, but if you think about it lots of players should be similar and just a few should be stars, so reducing only the mean will not change the fact that there are too many good players. This is a controversial subject, as always.
@amacb: what I meant was, the average number of points earned per skill is still twenty, I’ve reduced the chance of an improving player earn much more than 20 points. I don’t know the exact numbers, but it would be something like, before the player had a 10% chance of earning 25 (or 15) points instead of 20, now this chance is 8%.
Matches are not picked by surprising results but by importance. For instance, a legue match between the first and second places (no matter the score, could be 0×0) will have higher priority than yours, no matter the result. Of course this is just our initial approach, we were afraid that considering surprising results as an important factor would cause these results to dominate the newspaper.
actually Philipp Chelsea and Liverpool have played in the same group in the 2005-06 competition. But that was because the Reds had won the CL in 2005 and ended up only 5th in EPL. Hence, there were 5 English teams in CL next season, even though Everton never made it to the group stages.
That said you are correct. Same country teams should not play in the same group
@ Gabriel: Once teams are automatically divided in 4 pools, you can do the dealing manually to form the groups and apply the not-from-the-same-country rule
If I read correctly reducing the standard deviation of players development you are reducing the risk of the player don’t reach the 20 points skill evolution. I would prefer to reduce the mean better than the standard deviation, as I think this risk is a good thing and without it is just a matter of sum 20 points each skill to know how the player will be…
Regards
you misunderstood me Sly. I dont care about meeting another german team in the quarters or semis. i care about balanced groups (strength and with minor relevance, nationality) and i would prefer that teams dont meet so soon again after group stage (no matter if they are from the same country or not …).
I’m aware that the modi used in RS probably have RL references, but i just speak out what i like most. If others see it the same way, fine. If not, good.
By the way we dont need to nerf everything to slove this problem i think. The fact is attackers are really overpowered in this game.. Even you have a great defence with 95+ tacklers you still let in 20+ shots some games and their rating sucks. Thats a shot every 4.5 minute having great defenders. Also you dont know how efficient your midfield is. How many assists they get? How many of the chances you create is based on your attackers tackling the opposition defense? We see attacker scoring 100+ goals in a season but how many clean sheets a top golie and defence combination have in one season?
“….AND existing players that are still improving to get much more than 20 points per skill ;) "
Sorry but I didnt like this part :/
Gabriel i would appreciate if you make a poll before making major chances in the game and see what majority wants. Imagine people spending their hard earned cash on promising players only later to realize that they dont have much potencial :/
I hope fellow managers wont be angry at me and think that they have craps youths thanks to me…but…I would appreciate if they think so =)))
i would say if you r going to try the new idea, it would be sensible to look at philipp’s idea, at least for the quarters… after that… it should just be a lucky draw…
that’s irrelevant…..
Spain was in the same group with Russia…they met in the semi’s of EC. So… badluck if you see another german in the semi’s. I don’t think there should be changes here. Keep things as they are.
my the then 16th placed team (levante, recently promoted ;) ) thrashed 8th placed Almeria by 4-0. isn’t that a newspaper item with spaces still available???
you guys will be facing lots of such questions in coming days:P ;)
About existing youths, you have to consider 2 things changed, it will be harder for a new youth to start with high skills and it will be harder for new youths AND existing players that are still improving to get much more than 20 points per skill ;)
OK thanks, I guess I’d better start looking for another job then.
there is an option called “go on vacation” on your main screen from “my team”
Admin, I have been sacked from Sheffield United after a week on holiday.
Is there any way I can get my job back?
What should I do next time I’m on holiday?
Cool, now any existing youth is…priceless =)))) I wonder when we are able to see the difference….in 15 seasons ? =)
@Neil Green: these are the types of articles we have only 1 approved template for
The winner and the loser really were the expected teams – Small negative difference. Example: expectation 4×0 result 3×0
The winner and the loser really were the expected teams – Medium negative difference. Example: expectation 4×0 result 2×0
The winner and the loser were not the expected teams – Small difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 0×1
The winner and the loser were not the expected teams – Medium difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 0×2
Tied match result (Both teams scored the same number of goals) – Small difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 1×1
Expected tie but one of the teams won – Large difference. Example: expectation 0×0 result 3×0
You guys don’t forget we need all 3 sizes ;)
Thanks!

About the html formatting not working in the forum, I have noticed that a couple days ago..no idea :(
Just do it =)
Or give them 100 points instead of 120, or make smth else plz =)
Chelsea and Liverpool never played in a same group …
I thought about that. But that could make the newspaper a pain to read :). Or maybe not, lets see.
Huge discount @ juventus! Alot of cheap (10mill) players for sale!
for those small articles on the top how about displaying only specific no of characters for other articles and an additional link ( for eg more) that would open the whole article. that would make them of uniform size in the front page
EDIT: why is this html formatting not working in forum:S
Are there any types of results that are lacking in articles? I imagine that a lot of people will have gone for certain types such as big win or big loss results! If so, let us know which ones you need more of.
On another note, it looks like the newspaper is generated every tick? I can’t always login after the main league game meaning that I miss the newspaper for the main results. How about publishing the last 3 newspapers so you I can go back and read it rather than reading about unimportant friendlies!
yeah, I don’t care about meeting each other in quaters or semi’s. That’s just badluck. Chelsea has faced Liverpool plenty of times in the later stage the CL….
The fact they meet in semi-finals is a coincidence (even though it is the most likely situation using the curent formula). This kind of complaint must have come from europeans, here in South America we are so used to the lack of organization in our football competitions that nobody would think about it :D
We are working on that, Nicky (Vaughn) is also taking a look at what we have now and giving suggestions. The reason for the blank space below the articles is because each article size has a large range of possibilities. For example, the main article is somewhere between 560 and 1120 characters, so when a 560 characters articles is picked for that space there is a lot of free spaces. Don’t forget the fact that the articles will be translated and become bigger in most languages. Our translators will have a lot of work (me included) for next month updates :D
makes sense… happens the same in real competitions too…
