the player value also has market influences so yes, it is.
cheers!
Great comments guys!
cheers
I know what happened. It should not happen in the next season tick. Lets see. But don’t worry, your “lost” game info is already in our statistics computer :), which is a new functionality we will have soon.
cheers!
We will talk about the problem as soon as possible and get back to you guys. Thanks for sharing your concerns!
regards
Another thing that we are considering is to enable you guys to change the mentality in a different place. The grid would remain, but it would only treat the field position. This would give more flexibility to the positions on the field.

You guys also keep an eye on him. One of the best ways to sack this kind of cheat is to do exactly what Alban and others did: compete to buy his players.

Individual tactics are now applied.
Enjoy!
Individual tactics will start to apply VERY soon. I recommend everybody to take a look on this tab as soon as possible so you can take advantage of it when I turn the functionality on.
The tick ran 2 times. It should not happen again.
cheers!
Very difficult to say. But I would guess 2 months. We still have to finish the current package of changes and need to plan a new one.
cheers!
Yes, for sure we will adjust those statistics to get a more realistic match… I hope those improvements get your friend to reconsider and come back to the game :).
thanks for your feedback,
cheers
Hi Stramazi,
We already have a lot going on regarding this and other TODO’s. A lot will change in the following weeks – and it already started, with the kick off on individual tactics. But we also will:
- alter the odds and the shoot vs goalkeeping algorithm
- add headers (that will have a considerable impact)
- adjust the whole package so wicked formations pay the price for their design or add the “minimum amount of players per zone” workaround for now
- etc.
You guys have to understand that it is very difficult for us to promise a deliver date where all the problems will be solved. But what we can guarantee is that we are working as hard as we can to gradually improve all the aspects you guys are raising your hands about. But we are also counting on your common sense to analyze every situation carefully. This kind of tight result is, frequently, fair.
if you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know.
cheers
Phew, I was having a software release on my real work, guys. Now that things are more calm I expect to have some more time free for RubySoccer. I can’t wait to implement some ideas we had and have been receiving lately!
cheers!
fixed! thanks for reporting. I will apply the fix in a few minutes.
cheers!
So you guys can be prepared when we activate it. :)
cheers!
well, that was blocked but we have decided to make it available. everybody can now start editing their individual tactics :). have fun!
It should be working now!
cheers!
I know what is wrong. Thanks for reporting, I will fix this asap.
cheers!
That was a bug introduced by a last minute change :(. Anyway, thanks for reporting this, guys! We really depend on you to help us “clear” the game from bugs!
cheers!
Just to let you guys know that there is still more to come on our team setup section! Stay tuned!
Who says you get nothing on our anniversary? I tried to deliver more but I didn’t have enough time, sorry guys! I am planning one more pack of improvements soon. But here is what we have today:
UI
- Better checkbox alignment/appearance
Formation Strategies:
- More generic condition (RedCard/Injury on any player)
- A match action can be specific to a home, away or just apply to all types of matches
- Can edit an existing strategy
- Can create a new strategy using another one as template
Individual Tactics:
- Implemented first draft (will activate those on our match engine very soon)
- Still not too graphical, but already can alter the position of a player during
an offensive / defensive situation
Other
- When accepting a friendly, can already select the wanted formation
We have finally decided to not spend more time to improve the look of rubysoccer on internet explorer 6, for the following reasons:
1) IE 6 is an awful browser from the technical perspective and require tunings that no other browser requires
2) IE 6 number of users is dropping daily
3) We understand that about 20% of our users use this browser by choice or by the lack of, but RubySoccer is already usable and bareable on it – and our commitment to guarantee that this continues to be remains
4) With that decision we will be able to use more of our free time on improvements that would impact 100% of our community
I hope our IE 6 users understand and we apologize for any inconvenience. Anyway, the site doesn’t look that uglier in IE6, does it guys ? :)
cheers!
Interesting announcements indeed ;). You will have to wait and see.
cheers!
Phew, what a year! Thank you all for your support and keep your ideas coming! Gabriel didn’t leave a lot for me to say, so let me add here that I would like to see more people participating in this forum. A great community is what makes a great game!
cheers!
Now that we have that subject back, maybe some of you may want to tell us your opinion about the need(?) of star marks…
cheers!
hi Pedro,
Welcome to RS. Here are some comments:
1 – We are working to add more stuff to the tactics screen. But though this game was really inspired in managersim, our tactics are planned to be more flexible. The offensive / defensive behavior, for example, is something we already have – and may be controlled at a player level. You just have to put your players in the +1 (offensive) / 0 (neutral) / -1 (defensive) squares. During the game, you can modify all that based on conditions.
The defense/offense options (changes according to ball possession – or the arrows, like you said) are being developed, along with other few points you have mentioned (and some that you havent). To finish the planned functionalities for our tactics / strategies is definitely one of our top priorities (along with improving the match engine), and we will do all that as soon as we can.
2 – We have plans to add star players to the game. We still have some higher priorities to take care, but I hope we can do that one fast too.
We have a bugzilla to track our plans and activities. You can go there= anytime to see what is happening. The ones in red are the next priorities (everytime we finish a package of red issues we define a new one and mark the issues in red there).
We were out for some hours, due to a problem in our server (not in rubysoccer itself). Sorry for any inconvenience. The ticks will be back to their correct schedule real soon – and we will not run the ticks that should be executed during the outage.
cheers!
Solved!
cheers
A schedule is not a doable thing for us, anyway :(. We can only work on RubySoccer on our free time, which is unpredictable.
cheers!
Carlos, please consider the following:
1) The board is a necessary thing to our game – we need to have a way to control what is happening in the teams;
2) We were not expecting to achieve the best (or most complete) implementation right from the beginning, this is the kind of functionality that takes a while to get mature;
3) Being fired is not big deal. In real life soccer, managers are fired all the time. It is one more challenge to face, there are lots of positive aspects in it: you can try to recover a team that is in bad shape, for example.
As Gabriel have mentioned, you still have a very good chance of not being fired. But if you end up being fired, those are good arguments to have in mind.
cheers!
