If we regenerate already using DM, DA and MA the criteria would be:
-defender with passing greater than tackle and shooting => DM;
-defender with shooting greater than tackle and passing => DA;
-midfielder with tackle greater than passing and shooting => DM;
-midfielder with shooting greater than passing and tackle => MA;
-attacker with tackle greater than passing and shooting => DA;
-attacker with passing greater than tackle and shooting => MA
For newly generated players there are 2 options (to be discussed after this topic’s discussion ends, I’d go with the first one):
-after generating the player position (D, M or A) and attributes give him an extra position if he ended up in any of the situations mentioned above (e.g. attacker with tackle greater than passing and shooting would become a DA)
-while generating the player position give him the chance to have 1 or 2 positions, and generate the attrbiutes accordingly
There are no plans to make it dynamic, what could be interesting is allow the managers to use coaches (when implemented) to train a player in an extra position.

The CPU teams cancel friendlies cause they don’t know how to deal with it yet. I mean, they use their first squad on friendlies instead of lining up their weakest players to make them evolve. We’ll fix that in the future so that CPU teams can accept or even invite other teams for friendlies in order to improve their squads.

Well, I have to agree that it was a drastic change to be made without giving a period for everybody to adapt their squads, but the reason I did that right now is that the seasons are coming to an end and everybody (me included) would have to face the same problems from the next season start. I see 4 possibilities here:
1) postpone the change
2) regenerate all players positions based on tackle, passing and shooting
3) implement DM, DA and MA and apply that to existing players where it makes sense (not much fair, as this kind of player will have a higher value and demand a higher wage)
4) do nothing, keep the -3 penalty for wrong positions (the exact value may change in the future)
I’ll probably take some action tonight (unless option 4 wins), so please let me know your opinion. And don’t be mad at me :-D

As it was an easy change I’ve added position penalties. A player playing in the wrong position will receive a -3 penalty in all attributes. We can change this value depending on how this discussion goes on. I’ll announce this change properly.

That’s a point to be discussed. The penalties for side goes from -1 to -3, I was planning to use -3 for position, but Ricardo is the second person to suggest -5 and -10 today (the other one is a co-worker who talked to me instead of posting in the forums). Let’s hear other opinions while I start doing something about it.

The reason the team is performing so well is that most of their attackers are not “real” attackers, as they have poor shooting compared to passing or tackle, but I agree that we should do something to make them play worse if playing in the wrong position, as we do for players in the wrong side.

The prize based on expectations would be nice, but where would that money come from? I mean, when you win a competition the entity responsible for the competition would give you the prize, but if you ended the league in 10th when the board expected 16th who would pay for it? You could say sponsors…well it’s possible, not sure if they should give you more than the sponsorship value paid every 3 turns though ;-)

Torres: Maybe the solution is not generate players like Stefano Sferrella, I mean, an attacker wouldn’t have shooting almost 20 points lower than his passing or tackle, it could be like 3 points lower at most when the player reaches his maximum potential…the only disadvantage I see on this situation is that you would know in advance how much the main attribute would increase in some situations, like if we had already this rule you would know that Stefano would reach at least 78 in shooting…
Another possible solution is never let the main attribute for the player position be lower than the main attribute for the other positions or even train the player to play in other position when we have added coaches to the game.

I’ve just analyzed the problem and realized it would be an “expensive” operation to determine the international competitions spots on previous seasons. Maybe fornow we should just hide this information when displaying previous leagues, don’t know.

I think a youth can always be hired by the team, no matter how much money the team have. You’re right about free players, you can’t hire them if you are low on money or negative. I like your ideia to allow free players to be hired with a low limited wage in all cases.

New source of income: sponsorship. The amount of money received from sponsors every 3 turns is defined based on the team’s recent performance. As the performance history started being recorded when the manager ranking was added it is not complete yet, which means that the sponsor value will be lower than it should for now, specially on MediumTicker. The stadium size will limit the amount of money received from sponsors, but it will probably only affect teams with a great performance.
