Firefox rox :D . But we have some IE lovers, so I am planning to make it work on IE6 too, as soon as I can. I will probably have to do it using another approuch, since the new version of the approuch I was using seems to not work at all.
cheers!
Well, I’ve performed a few changes and it is working on IE 7 and Firefox 3 beta 5… Stramazi, is it working for you now? I will test on other browsers tomorrow.
cheers!
Let me add that it depends on your browser versus your screen resolution :)
cheers
Well, i ended up not sleeping. But I did other very important stuff that was on the queue for a long time. I will fix this later, sorry guys.
cheers!
Today RubySoccer suffered a big structure migration. This should (hopefully) considerably improve our overall performance. In the beginning we can experience a few bugs, but they will all be fixed as usual. Please help us with feedback.
Hey guys, sorry but i just have to sleep, I am too tired. :D. Will fix this tomorrow!
cheers
It is really a problem, depending on your browser. Ive changed a lot on our javascript tier, still have to adjust that tooltip. I will do it asap, probably tonight.
thanks for reporting.
cheers
Yep, it is not good. I will see if I can get sometime to fix this tonight.
cheers
JD, what is your screen resolution?
As promised, I have changed a lot of things related to our formation screen (mainly around drag and drop). My focus was to improve our internet explorer user experience, but I hope everybody can get a good performance gain. I would appreciate some feedback on that. There are still some points I want to at least improve (tooltip position, line breaks on player names, etc). And I still have lots of plans to some features adds/changes in this area.
I’ve made a few changes to our donations/expenses structure. Paypal is still our way to do it, but the system now tracks internally our finances – this gives us the possibility to have private/public pages to show individual and generic financial information. If we need help, a red message alert is displayed at the login page.
I would like to hear your opinion on this. Mainly on:
What kind of information you would like us to show? In what level of access?
cheers
I hated the big clubs clause in manager sim. If I were a player, i would want a big money clause, not big club :). But we can sure discuss it.
I also like the “free on relegation” clause. We may add that. I will talk to Gabriel in a near future and we will see what we can do to raise the tilt on this part.
thanks for your suggestions!
cheers!
This is a translation announcement, so I will do it in the correct language.
99% do jogo já está traduzido para português. Tenho certeza de que já temos o suficiente para que uma pessoa que não conhece a língua inglesa possa jogar.
Very good suggestions, Leonardo. I am going to consider them for sure. I am planning a few changes on our formations/strategy screen and I am probably going to use the opportunity to merge some of your suggestions in.
When I first wrote the strategies screen I already thought about the possibility to edit the existent ones. But I’ve decided to simplify so I could get something out of the door :).
cheers!
We almost got everything ready for translations. Now I will group all our volunteers. If you would like to help us, please send a message to admins@rubysoccer.com saying the language that you would like to help with. I know some of you, like Javier, have already raised the hand in the past. But we will still double check, so please send an email even if you have confirmed in the past.
cheers!
Please let me know if the problem persists.
cheers
Hugo, for situations like that, here is what you can do using event based strategies (when a red card occurs):
1. create one that will apply when a particular attacker receives a redcard. in this case, you would move somebody that was in another position to take his position. you can perform a substitution at the same time you do that.
2. create one that will apply when any attacker receives a redcard. if you do that, you have to analyze the combinations of possible situations. if, for example, Attacker1 receives a redcard and you try to take out a defender to put an attacker in the same place as Attacker2 (which didnt get a redcard and, therefore, it is still in the field), nothing will happen.
Hope that helps.
Cheers
I was using internet explorer 7 today and had a very depressive experience with the formations screen. Which was a surprise, since 50% of our visitors have this browser.
Internet explorer is, by far, the worse of the big browsers out there, at least from the javascript engine perspective. Firefox and Safari are both pretty good and stable options, for example. I highly recommend everybody to try one of those browsers and check out the huge performance blast you will get there.
That depressive experience and Lee Hamo, who have reminded me of the lack of intuitiveness of our strategies screen, may have changed my future dev plans for RS. I am thinking about the possibility to spend some time on our formations/strategy screens, and finally get rid of most of our problems there.
Lets see what happens.
cheers!
Using this screen you can schedule conditional substitutions and/or field position changes during the match. That is what we call strategy. Here is how this works:
- There are 2 types of conditional strategies: time based and event based
- Time based strategies may occur any time after the minute you have scheduled, but you can also ask it to only apply if a certain game result is happening (you are ahead, not ahead, tied, behind or not behind)
- Event based strategies will apply if the specified match event occurs (example: an attacker receives a redcard, a midfielder is injured, etc)
- When a strategy is applied, there are 2 possible changes that you can apply simultaneously or individually: substitutions and field position changes
- The “position to apply (from)” determines which field position will be affected by the strategy. If by the time the strategy applies no one is on that position, nothing happens
- The “field reassign (to)” determines the field position to where the player that was in the “from” position will be moved when this strategy is applied. If you only select N/A´s there, there will be no position change for this strategy
- The “Player substitute” determines who will be replacing the affected player (if this is a substitution rule). This can be generic, like “The best attacker” or very specific, like “Ronaldinho”
Is that good enough? If you have any questions please let me know.
I did not have space on the screen to design this functionality exactly in the way I wanted, but I am planning to add more manager possibilities and, when I decide to do that, I will also give this area a “face lift”. I hope I can make it more intuitive by then.
cheers!
They are already on.
cheers!
hmm, we will chew this up a little bit. but there is a workaround. if you use ctrl+click or just click in the link with the mouse wheel, a new tab will be opened for the player. it is not exactly the same but it sure helps.
cheers
are you talking about replays generated in ticks that ran today? because if not, the solution test was not implemented yet.
cheers
Another “hidden” improvement: I have adopted an alternate solution for our encoding problems. This will fix our match replay (for the not working cases) and will also dramatically improve the official games tick time (will only be able to check out the improvement in numbers on our next big tick, but i am sure you will all notice).
cheers!
ah , that kind of search. :)
the filter/order options were discussed here once. we are being careful about that because we dont want to ruin the fun of finding a good player on your own, like a star hunter.
search on other countries for what?
cheers!
For now, the first one. But for sure that wont last.
cheers!
i think i have finally isolated the problem. everything should be peachy keen now. if you experience any performance problems at all please let me know.
thanks!
this sucks. i had to put another application server online, bc the one we were using went crazy. you may experience some “proxy errors” messages, but i hope everything works. at least it is a lot better than it was a few hours ago.
cheers!
the service has been very unstable today. sorry for the inconvenience.
cheers!
what about now?
cheers
