I agree with you thorpedo and the reason for that is probably cause they don’t shoot very often. I think some changes when a foul or corner kick will be taken might help with that. In real life midfielders and defenders go to attack when a corner or foul will be taken and in our engine it’s very rare. Of course there are other ways to improve that and we’ll work on them, this is just an initial approach :-)

Cheers!

This is likely to change over time, tactics and the match engine will evolve continuously. We’ll try to make it the most configurable we can without making it too complex :-)

Cheers!

Welcome Alban! Here are the answers:

1) There is no exact ratio for value/wage even though the calculation is similar. It is important to notice that the player value and wage may become inaccurate over time. When a player is transfered his value temporarily changes to the transfer value. The wage a player will accept depends on how much is his current wage. Free players tend to accept less than a similar player that has a team. In the other hand, players with high wages may accept reductions, but not necessarily to a “fair” value. It is a gradual process.

2) I don’t have a perfect answer for that, personally I tend to consider all attributes when buying a player. The important thing is know how each attribute is used during the match.
Speed → running and taking action before opponents
Dribble → avoiding tackles
Control → running with the ball and controlling the ball when intercepting passes

3) What you said makes sense, specially for passing and shooting, as the distance influences the accuracy. Note that these tactics apply to all players, so if, for instance, your midfielders have good passing but everyone else have awful passing skills they may miss more long passes. Sometimes it’s worth it, sometimes not.

4) Yes, friendlies are not counted in the players statistics. Scouts or coaches (to be added soon) will help you in evaluating a player potential.

5) The player has individual potential on each skill and that’s not influenced by the player position. The player position influences the starting value for the attributes. The only difference between an M and a DM for instance is that the DM’s tackle tend to start with a higher value than the M’s tackle, but their passing tend to start with similar values. That means a DM will usually be a more complete player than a M. Of course that is not always true :-)

Hope this helps!

I like this ideia, sometimes I want to write something that everybody can see about my team or players :-)

I might be wrong but by quickly looking at the match engine I couldn’t find a situation where an offside wouldn’t be detected on purpose, even though I remember me and Danilo discussing whether or not we’d include this possibility. There is a chance that one of your defenders moved before the pass, giving the attacker conditions to receive the ball in a good position. Unfortunately these intermediate movements are not stored and therefore not displayed in the replay. That would be my best guess. If you see that happens more often let us know so we can perform a deeper investigation.

Cheers!

Danilo has just fixed that, now if you select a non-default formation and click in the Strategies link you’ll see that formation strategies. It is important to note that if you are looking at a formation strategies screen and change to another formation you’ll be taken to that formation’s squad screen first.

Cheers!

Hard to tell Jota. The only reasons I can think for this change are:

1) The one you already mentioned, the player was automatically replaced cause he was unavailable (we have no way to check red carded players after the match has happened, but if you say he was not red carded we believe you :) )
2) You have another 352 formation that was setup instead of your default one (I see that your only 352 formation at the moment is your youth formation and the players in it are not the same you pasted here)
3) A very rare bug :(

I hope it is not option 3, but please let us know if strange replacements like this one happen again.

Cheers!

The guy is playing with the rules in his hands :-)

I’ve already replied in another topic about how hard it is to score a goal, that will be sorted out. Let’s see what happens when we add headers to the game.

I must agree with you Javier, we have to decrease the number of shots on goal and make it easier to score. We’ll work on the match engine after our critical fixes/enhancements pack announced recently.

To make sure you have Java installed open your Internet Explorer, click in the Tools menu → Internet Options → Advanced tab and look for Java in the list of settings. If you find it, make sure its checkbox is checked. If you don’t find it you can download it here . Look for Java Runtime Environment.

Let us know if you need any help.

Apologies accepted. Individual Strategies are already being planned and will be part of the game very soon. In fact, individual strategies sounds like an interesting name, we were thinking how would we call this screen :-)

With this new feature you’ll be able to give players individual orders when your team has the ball and when the other team has it. Orders will be things like go forward, mark your zone, go back, play your position and so on. This can make a big difference during the matches.

Cheers!

There were some players with wrong information about where they were in the evolution path, so I had to make an update to their information. What seems to have happened is that some players stopped evolving sooner than they should even though they were still gaining experience. With my update your player may have evolved to the last stage at once, reaching his maximum potential. From now on I expect the evolution logic to be back to normal, but I’ll keep my eyes opened to fix anything strange before we reach this situation again.

Cheers!

I’ve started to write a draft of the starters guide in our empty wiki. You guys can see it here . Those of you who have some time and would like to contribute, please do. If you’re not familiar with wikis don’t worry, it’s really simple, just create an user in the wiki and you can start editing everything! We and those familiar with wikis will certainly help you! But if you want to contribute and are still uncomfortable with all this wiki talk you can always send me or Danilo the text you’d like to add. After putting together a good starters guide we can start working on a more detailed help.

Cheers!

Don’t worry Carlos, the “2 turns left” appeared due to the price change. Every time you change the player price there is a 3 turns wait so that managers have time to see your change in the transfer list. He won’t negotiate with managers offering less than the price you asked and any manager bidding on your player will receive a message when you change the price.

Cheers!

Hard decision, to cut or not to cut :-)

Cutting out second divisions:
+room for more countries without having cpu managing most teams
+we’d stick with a good number of teams in the league
-would probably require a reset
-small teams wouldn’t have the challenge to avoid relegation

Cutting first divisions in two and remove second divisions:
+we’d still have the challenge of avoiding relegation
+room for more countries without having cpu managing most teams
-could also require a reset as some second division teams have managers
-leagues would have just a few matches, so you could end up with long periods without official matches

Let’s keep this discussion rolling for a while.

=====

Dave, I’m glad you came back to check our game and decided to stay due to our improvements. I’m pretty sure that if all those who left the game (cause it was still too simple and not bug free in the beginning) came back as you did we’d have a lot more users and wouldn’t be discussing a way to add more countries without having lots of cpu teams, we’d be simply adding the new countries :-)

Cheers!

We have a newspaper in our plans and all this stuff will be included. First we need to plan how to add information to this newspaper and then what to add. I agree it will be interesting as an easy way to check what’s going on in your country. :-)

Cheers!

Get ready for Club World Cup! Starting this season the winners of Champions League and Libertadores will play against each other to decide who is the best team in the world. There is currently no prize for the winner, but the ticket income on this Club World Cup match will be $2.000.000 for each team.

Unfortunately I think unsatisfied people won’t read these messages :-(

I’d be great if we could fill these countries! Danilo’s latest changes have reduced the tick time to a level where we have room for more countries.

Cheers!

Well, at least that’s a way to make older players lose some value, maybe when their attributes starts decreasing as they become old we can make the injuries less frequent :-)

International competition matches have been rescheduled to happen 6 turns earlier. This will make them end on turn 137, giving room for a Club World Cup match on turn 143 between the Champions League winner and the Libertadores winner. This is not implemented yet but should be added soon.

Any friendly matches scheduled for the turns when the international matches will now take place have been cancelled.

There will be new leagues added to rubysoccer musti, that’s for sure. The question is when is it going to happen, cause right now we have most teams controlled by cpu on both dimensions. What we could do to add new countries right away is remove all second divisions from the game, this would allow us to add like 4 european and 2 south american countries. Of course this would require a reset. If more people would like that to happen we can create a new poll topic to decide whether or not this should be done.

Cheers!

You’re right Leonardo, but I’ve just had an ideia…after implementing the Clubs World Championship I’ll use that to give a weigth to each continental competition and make an worldwide ranking instead of two continental rankings. That should be interesting :-)

No Polat, youth quality has to do with the team’s country performance on international cups and the team’s division. Generating better youths based on ranking could be unfair, as a team playing in an “easier” league with lots of CPU teams would usually have a better performance and get better youths even if this team is from a small country or a lower division.

You can now see the teams ranking (using the same “flag” icon in the menu). If you had managed only one team since we began all this ranking stuff your team will be in the same position as you. In the future we’ll use this ranking to define cup matches.

It’s almost pure lucky. Almost because in the first round I pick only team in the second division…randomly :-)

In the future we can use a better criteria, like the one you mentioned. Sounds interesting.
