Free transfer is allowed, it’s like Gabriel said so cheater don’t sell/buy players for like 50m when he is retiring.
i once hired a retiring midfielder in the beginning of the season, because he was better then some of my old guards ( on a free transfer though) …

CPU teams can…they’re not cheaters :-)
It feels like russion Roulette though :). Because you can’t know if someone is on 1-2% or on 10%. They get in the newspaper when they hit 10%. So when you apply you have no idea when you will join. Every tick could be your last with your current team :).
Under 10% the manager is at risk, comes on the newspaper and new managers can apply. When the manager hits 1% the applies manager will get the job.
You will automatically take over when his performance reaches 0%.
So, if i apply and his performance is 4%, will i get a rejected mail and i will have to apply again OR will i automatically take over if his 4% drops to 0% ?
Yes you do, only when the other manager performance reaches 0% you will replace him
I noticed you can apply for a job at an occupied club as long as your rating is better than the current manager. Anyone done this? I’m guessing you stay at your club unless you get the new job?
Tiago Costa is for sale by a CPU team. I thought you can’t sell retiring players?
@Vaughn: I agree, next change to CPU behavior will make them increase coaching level when they’re financially comfortable to do so.

Listed Xisto Assunção for the lowest price the board would let me, he’s not improving anymore but still a very reasonable striker with a 91 average the most important skills…
As for the others the prices wont change much more as from what I been seen they are the best deals you can find in the market, people who dealt with me know that too so if great international young superstars are not bought for 70M they wont leave :D

Gabriel – thanks for the reply. It’s a very noticeable change and i’m not sure it’s going to help the enjoyment of the game in the long run but totally agree it needs monitoring for a period. :)
If they buy promising players from the free transfer and have coaching 5 it doesn’t really help the player evolve.
Not a bug, we just got used to sell our not-so-good players to CPU teams. I believe they’ll start buying again once they can’t find players they consider promising in the free transfer. We’ll need a few season to have a better idea how the change is working, if it’s a bad thing we can redesign the CPU buying behavior again.
