Indeed, now the key is for some humans to take on those teams. The Dutch league is full of above average teams, with each of them having a solid base of players to compete or to use them to improve the teams further.

Come on, people, Holland needs to be added to the list of great European countries out there.

PS: Good job, Dimitri. :)

Welcome mate,

You should have allowed Cardiff to the final, for the good of your new country, but I’ll bury the hatchet on that one lol ;-)

I guess England has attracted in all the quality it needs to compete with Spain. This is all becoming very, very interesting for the seasons to come. I expect France to keep its competitiveness, Hertha to rise back from its ashes, and last, but not least, the Dutch League has solid potential to become an important factor in Europe, if only 5-6 managers take up on those healthy CPU teams.

Maybe yes, but I’ll continue here anyway. This is interesting:

136 Felipe Santos => Gabriel Cesario Damiano Assunção 2103327 Transfered from Gama to Emmen

As some of you know, I tried an experiment in the Dutch league where I hopped from club to club, pimping the club with young players in the mean time. The result of this experiment is that the Dutch league is very strong, and a difficult one for human managers. I’ll give some examples of the strength of the league. I’ll use the average stats: while that doesn’t say anything, it does give a good indication.

One of the team I pimped is Den Bosch. The average of the first team is 88. This team finished last in the Eredivisie… we have a manager at risk here, and he made mistakes, but still.

My team (PSV) is the highest human managed team, only at the 12th place. After two championships in a row the league turned out too tough for me this season. It won’t be easier in the coming seasons.

Now down to the second league, called the Eerste Divisie. Here we see at the eight place Emmen, which is the new team of Gabriel Cesario. A good choice, a young team of 87.3 average.

The other human managed team is De Graafschap. After rebuilding the team the manager is waiting a few seasons already for the results to get better, but his 82.3 average only gave a 19th place. And while his team is improving (in average stats), so are the other teams…

So the current state of affairs is that the computer managed teams are beating the humans. This might happen next season also. Or will Gabriel manage to become champion?

I didn’t qualify for European football this year, so it’s a good time to do some rebuilding. That’s why I decided to sell my superstar:

Blasio Rojo: defender, 91 average (92 tackling, 100 speed, 100 dribble), 45M

Also some other players:

Inácio Viana: defender, 88 average, 15M
Tokaç Ilker: Midfielder, 83 average, 2M
Jan Linssen: Attacker, 83 average, 3M

Take a look at PSV, http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/team_players/636

If there are any other players you’re interested in, just send a message.

I think Gabriel already cleared that, the game removes one player from your team and you get the value he was worth, the player simply disappears, cant be hired from someone else. Anyway you have so many players that could be sold in the market you don’t need to go bankrupt… I have 6M in Newcastle but cant sell anyone but the average defender…

Newcastle is selling every player in the team, chances to make good deals for anyone who wants, all but one player will be sold for minimum price the board alows (10% their value) most of the players have no value so will be fired, some of the youngs have no interest to me but can be useful if you want to risk on them, this things we never know and I let many execelent players gone for free before…

http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/team_players/177

Other players can still be useful for many teams around:

Aaron Hardyman D RC 28 y.o
Tackle: 93
Pass: 72
Shoot: 74
Speed: 82
Drible: 75
Control: 79
Heading: 86
Agress: 40
An average defender that will brind more options to most teams in the game, has good values in the most important skills so wont let you down. Price 7M

Enrique Lorenzo M LC 31 y.o
Tackle: 75
Pass: 88
Shoot: 73
Speed: 87
Drible: 94
Control: 94
Heading: 92

Agress: 74
Old but not that old mid, can still make many seasons and he as top secundary skills. The price?… well… take a look :D

Philipp Maas A AC 33 y.o
Takle: 81
Pass: 77
Shoot: 85
Speed: 95
Drible: 93

Control: 87
Heading: 89
Agress: 72
This one is old but can help any team that plays with a A-1, in my opinion he is a great A-1… Tackle, speed, Drible, aggressiveness. Listed for 10% his price, a player to use till he retires for mostly no price… 2,2M

i don’t think he was trying to do that… he has 4 goal keepers (2 of which are ok and one is very very good) and he just got relegated this season from a quite comfortable position …

Money somehow appears as if by magic, I am not sure what is going on, the club refuses to go bankrupt?!

Maybe a suggestion to when managers jumping from club to club, their reputation/rank could be lowered, so they have less chances of landing jobs in the future when they just jump from club to club? I am sure some sort of penalty should be applied.

As the season is ending sooner than I wanted I’ll leave Manchester on turn 130. Many of the young players surprised me with crazy improvements this last days so the future seems even more bright than what I’ve imagined…

For those who want to start over come join us in Division 1, Ricardo Ramos already came from Brazil to Coventry and I know many others are coming at the end of the season, take your chance and compete with us since the very beginning…

Charles – yes, i used to play Soccersim/Managersim in both it’s names :) CPU loaning of players is one massive advantage that the game had. Used to love seeing when the ticks were going to double-tick! lol. good times.

BerhanK – what code is it?

The game I mentioned earlier is called “A game of two halves” it’s a small game it had 32 teams per game world 4 divisions of English clubs with 8 teams per division. It was coded by Simon Goodchild, he actually got bored of the game and gave me everything so I still have the code and actually ran the game few years ago. I might launch it again but it’s quite primitive compared to RubySoccer.

yes that was the name of the old game Steve.

i’m not sure knowing a situation is that big a deal. Worst case, you wait 36 turns and you go to another team…

Don’t you guys think that a team with a bad financial situation will automatically be handicapped and GMs won’t want to sign there.

As it stands, some GMs see 200k in the bank and maybe they tell themselves “ok i’m up for the challenge”

But if you allow users to know if a situation is good or not, that chance will never be there because most GMs might just go for teams with good financial situations…

Berhan K – i asked the same question via twitter but there was a list they could give me. The view was they were young developing players so i guess the old vets are not going to sell to even the lower league teams like they would in the English Leagues for example.

Also, going back to your move to another club, your point of knowing the current financial state is a good one. Not required to know figures but certainly we would know from the press that a certain club is in good or bad financial situation. This would at least give you an idea if it’s worth jumping ship.

was the old game SoccerSim / ManagerSim ?

Steve, that could be almost true, IF the club I jumped to had tons of cash, they had 246k, they are an even bigger ship sinking…

Funny though, I did nothing to raise cash, somehow cash appears out of nowhere and we are not being bankrupt..It really looks like the club gets some cash to avoid bankruptcy and that mus be cheating, because I could be having several players with big wages and still “someone” pays for the costs, maybe a “sugar daddy” hehe..

We’ll see..

Perhaps a suggestion would be to:
1. let the club crash and burn,
2. the players are released on free transfer,
3. new players are brought in (newly generated by game engine) with very low wages, until the end of the next season, mostly younger players.

I don’t know but having it the way it is now, I can understand people taking another club because the club they just took has no economy.

A game I used to play in 1998 would, when club is bankrupted, fire the manager, give the club 5M, so the next manager taking the club has a chance. I should mention that it used to cost £5/season/club/person, so people took care of their clubs. Winning a division would give them free seasons, so there was lots of motivation to win for your club.

guys, I was asking from the game engine point of view, how does the game see him?

You can play a goalie as a striker, that’s not a problem. But I guess he is an offensive mid even though the game sees him as a DM…

Filipe, I do not watch match replays so I wasn’t aware you could see other team’s formation really :)
