From Rui Antunes in the Improvements topic:
the problem remains.
score: 1-1
57% possession 43%
41 shots 9
35 shots on target 6
89% accurrate passes 90%
63% effective tackles 26%
From Ulisses:
Gabriel, how about fix news feed?
Scottish league sounds like a good addition. New european countries require changes to our code to accomodate more than 32 teams in international cups. This will have to wait until we work in the match engine enhancements. it doesn’t mean we can’t get new countries ready to be added as soon as we have made the changes. This topic explain how to help: http://www.rubysoccer.com/forums/3/topics/1539

In English:
The ability to refuse proposals does not sound like a good idea, it can lead to cheating. Instead, we can allow the exclusion of a maximum of X clubs which wouldn’t be able to make proposals, and the same league clause would be kept.
Regarding swaps, our intention is to develop a separate system for that, so the exclusion of clubs wouldn’t be used with this purpose.
As most of you know Danilo has moved to Australia last month. At the end of this month it will be my turn. This explains the little time I had lately to work on improvements and things will continue this way for me at least for 1 more month. Luckily Danilo is all set to go back to work around here, so don’t feel abandoned ;)
The team doesn’t really matter does it? :)
Besides, you still have room to schedule some friendlies with friends, or even cancel some of the ones scheduled automatically.
I admit I still have a lot to learn on Facebook, I’ve started to use it by the time RubySoccer group was created. Thanks for your suggestion Filipe, we’ll check it out ;)
Now I am 100% sure, tactics are kept after substitution.
I’ll check the code, Danilo implemented this :)
1. I’m not so sure about that either.
2. I believe the Individual Tactics (which are indeed Positional Tactics) are kept when the player is substituted during the match. The same doesn’t happen if you change the player in your formation, as you mentioned you have to set the tactic again. We can fix the later.
@Markkö: not yet, we’ll need to prepare international cups to have 8 groups instead of 4 before adding new european countries.
@amacb: that’s a good point, but I’d rather combine CL with Libertadores and Europa League with Sudamericana (with some kind of qualifying stage with teams from the same continent) than keeping them and extending CWC to have more teams from each competition.
@Filipe: yeah, I realize there are 2 functions for the ranking but we can sort that out. Regarding your suggestion to have a real schedule for national squads I completely agree, we’d have a 4 season cycle of qualify for continental cups (south america don’t have it since there are only 10 countries, but anyway), continental cups, qualify for world cup, world cup…we could even add some additional tournaments like confederations cup.
Filipe nailed it. I have the same concerns. Too many competitions if we keep CL, Libertadores, etc, too unrealistic if we remove them. That’s why I proposed the national squad world cup as an alternative. We’ll have national squads at some point anyway, so I thought why not use them sooner and base the ranking on them?
What if instead of a fake club word cup we had national squads for the countries we already have and a mini national squads world cup? The ranking could then be based on their results instead. At first they would all be cpu controlled, but in the future managers could be invited to manager a national squad.
First and second in the country ranking have equally good youths, third an fourth countries’ youths have, in the average, 1 point less on each skill, fifth and sixth have 2 points less per skill in the average when compared to top 2 countries and so on. Maybe we could increase the size of the group, reducing 1 point in each skill every 3 positions in the ranking, instead of 2.
I’m not so sure about best x best and worst x worst, it would remove some good clubs in early stages of competition. The only way to improve the country ranking is the club world club with all countries.
Obrigaodo pelas sugestões, concordo que seriam úteis :)
Davison and Paradokus, that’s exactly what we are planning to do. Instead of waste our time reversing transfers and players fired we will make the board more strict when it is obvious the player shouldn’t leave the team, unless the team is low on money.
(en) Direct confrontation was not adopted yet. In fact, each country has a different criteria, so we generalized for all using goals difference, and if they’re still tied, goals scored. The only exception is Brazil where the first criterion is number of victories.
Don’t stop dreaming DaMaGo ;)
Just a side note, it would be much easier if this World Cup replaced existing continental competitions, but I know this is not what the majority wants…let’s see.
People have been asking how they can help adding new countries to the game, and some have already helped. I’ve decided to create this topic to explain in detail all we need before adding a new country so those who want to help have a guideline. Keep in mind that from now on all leagues will have 20 teams, no matter how many teams they have in real life. You can provide as many leagues as you want for a given country, as long as they all have 20 teams. This is the current continent priority: South America, Europe, North America, others. This is what we need:
1) Country name
2) League(s) name. E.g.: Série A and Série B / Premiership and Divison 1 / Super Lig and Ligi A
3) National cup name. E.g.: Copa do Brasil / DFB Pokal / FA Cup
4) Teams names, 20 per division
5) Teams logos. If you could send logos with transparency, in png format with dimensions 25×25 (or anything x 25 like 18×25, 20×25, 23×25) we would really appreciate. If you don’t know how to transform the logos you find to this format you can send in whatever format you have and we’ll adjust it.
6) A list of common first names for this new country (it can be a simple text file with one name per line)
7) A list of common surnames for this new country (same format as above)
Send it to admins at rubysoccer dot com. The more information the better. If you can’t provide all 7 items in the list make sure you send at least items 1 to 5. There is no guarantee your country will be added in the following season, but we guarantee it will be added at some point.
These are the countries we already have either in the game or almost ready to go: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Colombia, England, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Sweden, Switzerland and Mexico.
Before you start working make sure to check and post in this topic which country you will be researching, so that 2 people don’t end up sending info for the same country.
Thank you!
I think no countries for next season, I’m busy working in the match engine now. I still have data for Switzerland, Sweden and Colombia. It doesn’t mean you cannot help! I will create an official topic to make it clear how people can help with new countries.
I’m pretty sure it can :)
Please guys, let’s keep the topic discussion around the topic’s subject. As Dhimitri said “we all want this game to develop and progress. Point at the problems is the best way to start improving it”.
Cheers!
Yesterday I’ve started working on the match engine again. I’ve created action profiles for each position to try and fix this behavior.
Nice suggestions :)
This was changed a while back to foster loans by allowing teams to plan, as DaMaGo mentioned. In the old way the team who loaned the player could suddenly “lose” the loaned player, without notice. In the new way the team who is buying is able to decide whether or not buy a loaned player, knowing he will be back only when the loan period ends.
Our host rebooted our machine around the tick time so I ran it manually about 30 minutes past the regular time.
We have been seeing a number higher than what we should have of unexpected match results. By unexpected I mean a match where the better team or at least the team who played better looking at the stats is not the winner. Our top priority now is to finish the tweaks I started last year in order to make the match engine more realistic.
Not yet, it will probably take a while :(
