Just to make it clear, the bug was fixed, but only if you entered holiday mode AFTER the fix had been done. It is a shame to lose a manager like Philipp, we’ve exchanged a few messages and I did what I could to negotiate with the current Hertha manager, but of course he didn’t want to go back to Bayern.
Maybe in a few seasons (specially after changing the youth system and the match engine) we’ll be in a good position for a reset, and then none of this will matter anymore. But nothing changes the fact this bug was a shame :-(
I think I have 40 too. We have names and surnames for all European countries, but they might not be accurate so any lists are welcome.
Cheers
Sorry ghuardian, we already have Denmark team logos. Same for Belgium. Croatia and Poland we don’t have yet.
Thanks!
Noted. I hope it is as simple to implement as you predict :-)
International competition spots were redistributed for South American countries based on real life distribution but adjusted to be dynamic rather than fixed. If you take Libertadores for example, Brazil and Argentina have 5 spots each and all other countries have 3. In RubySoccer the first two South American countries in the country ranking will have 5 spots and other countries will have 3. A similar logic was applied to Copa Sudamericana, first South American country will have 8 spots, second 6 spots and all others 3 spots.
We know that there are other rules like the previous champion is automatically qualified, but we are not implementing those…at least not just yet.
Cheers.
Hey guys! Let’s return to the topic’s subject, shall we? ;-)
Yeah, well, we know our match engine is not as close to real life as it should be. Over time people have learned to play with its subtleties and use tactics to overcome stronger oppositions in ways that would never happen in real life, this is a good example.
The way the match engine works, as you may know, is by simulating the whole match, every pass, shot, tackle and player movement. This is all good stuff but makes it harder to implement a good player positioning system and harder to make the team play as a group rather than based on individual player decisions.
We, as developers, have 2 clear options here:
1) Invest some time improving the current match engine, try to make the players more aware of the tactics (of his own team and the opponent’s), let the current player positioning have more influence on player skills and decisions.
Pros: detailed level of simulation allowing the gathering of realistic (in the sense they represent what really happened) individual statistics and ratings, match replay availability, reuse of what we currently have designed
Cons: longer ticks, hard to influence players decisions based on the big picture in the current design
2) Rethink the way the match engine works, instead of simulating every detail we base the actions and results and statistics more on tactics, positioning, strategy and teamwork rather than every individual action.
Pros: faster ticks, high-level view of match simulation allowing us to easily introduce new strategies and tactical possibilities in the future, team statistics closer to real life
Cons: match replay would be replaced by text-based match highlights, rewrite of most of the current engine
My opinion? I’d go with option 2 if you ask me. Even if it takes longer to implement and test I like the idea of rewriting the current engine in a way that allows easier tactical improvements in the future. That’s what football is all about! At the same time I’m concerned some people could miss the match replay, even though this is not the focus in a football management game.
I’ve said too much, your turn now.
Yeah, I totally agree with you and we are aware of the problem. We haven’t spent much time working on a mobile interface but we know the formation screen is the main concern. I’ll discuss that with Danilo when he’s back from vacations.
Just realized we’ve already got Sweden a while ago. Of course you can give your own suggestions, but that’s up to you.
Cheers.
I think 200 is a good number, but the more the better. I need to verify which countries were supplied. We do have all name lists from ManagerSim, but apparently they’re not very accurate so any help is appreciated.
Regarding the order / priority, I suppose the order you mentioned is good: Denmark, Croatia, Poland and Sweden. Thanks a lot!
Thanks ghuardian. We do have both implemented here:
- minimum value is 25% of estimated value (10% if player is more than 30 years old), maximum value is 3 times estimated value
- there is a limit of 1 operation between 2 managers per season
I wish we improved faster than we do, but we’ll not let them win :-)
Cheers.
Just fixed holiday mode. You can now safely go on vacation without worrying (too much) about your team. Rules are still the same, as soon as you enter the dimension again holiday mode is turned off.
Cheers.
Let us know if it didn’t but I’d be really surprised if this happened to just a few players as the logic to raise stamina should take care of all players at once.
We could do that but we don’t want to mislead people. As Charles said a player with a higher average doesn’t automatically play better than others.
Holiday mode is not working correctly, at least for some managers. While we don’t fix the problem you shouldn’t rely on it for not losing the team after 7 days of inactivity. As soon as it’s resolved a new announcement will be made.
Cheers.
New country’s fault…fixed!
Interesting discussion. I have to say that in Brazil things work similar to Portugal, if a club is not doing well in the league the attendance is likely to be low. Of course there are a few exceptions for clubs with more fanatic supporters.
Anyway, the change on season start makes sense. I’ve increased the attendance levels for the first 3 league matches, when it is not clear yet who the favorites are.
Cheers.
You should be able to fire him now. Let me know if you can’t.
Cheers.
The “player is too important” rule was included to prevent cheaters from firing the best players. I agree that it should not be applied to retiring ones. I’ll add a task on my list to fix that.
Cheers.
Regarding Carpegiani Paulo, it’s better to keep cheaters on our radar and hope they’ve learned their lessons than to ban their users and have to track a newly created cheating user.
Let’s keep an eye at Alencar Mentges…
Even though we have a system to reverse transfers it is only good for some particular cases, for others it involves a lot of manual processes, that’s why we usually don’t do that. I’ll improve that so we undo these things in the future, this particular one unfortunately will stay as it is.
Shouldn’t happen again, even if you are redirected from the login screen directly into a dimension.
Fixed groups balance on international cups based on team quality. After Ricardo Ramos pointed out something was definitely wrong with the group drawing I’ve done some investigation and found the problem. Next time things should be back to normal ;-)
Cheers.
What you’re saying makes sense Parag, we store last login time when you enter the dimension. I’ll discuss an alternative with Danilo. Thanks!
I’ll take your word for it Parag, I’ve been seeing you around quite often lately :-)
You’re back in charge, luckily nobody had got the job.
Performance will be at 50% though.
In order to help us identifying the problem, please check your manager info screen once in a while to see if the time displayed there for your last login is being updated.
Cheers.
I’m pretty sure it is as described in your post, -2 for 29 y.o., -1 for 30 y.o. and no penalty for older players.
Cheers.
@Kuroyuki that’s exactly how it works.
Filipe’s explanation is quite accurate. The only addition I would make is that even though it is already mixed for shooting distance, if you pick the long option players are more likely to do long shots than medium and short one, whereas with passing when you pick medium or short you’re only restricting the passing distance, not enforcing it, as Filipe said.
This should be an easy one, I’ll check later today.
Bad luck with randomness…usually I have the opposite, more goalkeepers then I’d like. The odds of a new youth being a GK are approximately 1 in 9.
Did you have the feeling your low stamina players were not playing as bad as you’d expect? Because they weren’t! Some of the skills were not being correctly penalized due to low stamina as they should. It has now been fixed, players should suffer all effects of low stamina in the following matches. Thanks to Felix Cardoso for raising the flag on this one.
Cheers.
