the 270M on the investment screen was the budget you supposedly got at the start of the season, and the 101M on the front screen is basically what’s left for you to spend to the end of the season, or to be more correct, to tick 12 of next season before the new budget is accorded.

Thank you guys for the changes. It’s too early to judge the impact, but it will be radical, and be it positive or negative, all that matters is that you changed the status quo, which was an acute need, indeed!

cheers

PS: the laments here about the past higher wages seems null to me, since the past economy was null (you could spend and make money in the 100s of millions, hence wages were really an irrelevant cost in past ways of doing business. Just because some managers refused to spend on wages, doesn’t necessarily mean it was a smart business model, at least not in an economy where 1 million had the valence of a penny! So don’t feel cheated.
I hope the new model can make salaries relevant again, even the very center of business in this game, as it also is in RL!

The point is that the board may select some players as untouchables based on criteria that might not exactly be helpful to the manager. For example, we can agree that the value of a player does not necessarily reflect his skill on the pitch, according to a manager’s evaluation. This is usually the case with players with high secondaries but low main attributes, such as a keeper who would have only 85 in keeping, but 95’s in his secondaries. His price would be much higher than one of the same age, with 95 in keeping and 85’s in secondaries, even though the latter would be better across the skill board by 2 pts. And of course the manager would be much better off selling the 85 keeper and keeping the 95 keeper, but the board might select the 85 keeper as untouchable, which takes a chance off from the manager to generate some money and improve his team.
In other words, while we introduce features to prevent managers, especially new ones or cheaters, to destroy the team, we should also make sure that the same features don’t prevent good managers from improving their teams.

Regarding top players not being allowed to be sold by the board. I remember there was a similar feature before, and it did cause some problems. Is there a chance that both the board and the manager select the “untouchables”? Such as, the board provides the manager with a list of say ten players, and the manager has the final say by selecting a number of untouchable from the list

:)

I’m sure new rules and salary caps set by the board will make sure new managers don’t destroy their teams, and that salaries won’t be this high.

But…for the time being…I’m gonna enjoy my new toy and hope he improves some ;-)

one thing i notice is that u loan your kids to teams with level 5 coaching. Not much to grow there, no matter the official games they play. No wonder why your patience grows thin :)

As Oliver put it, it’s worth taking the trip just for the women! :)

It won’t be wrong to state that Russia has been the most interesting country of late. It has climbed 7 spots in the ranking in the last 3 seasons alone (from 15th to 8th next season). We will have 3 CL spots to qualify this coming round. There are already two very good teams that would guarantee european pts year in – year out! And that will bring better players to your own academy quite soon indeed.

Or think of the Moscow brigade of teams. Imagine an all Moscow CL final! Or a final CL clash between Dynamos.

Aaaaaaaaand, last but not least: You don’t have to pay taxes in Russia, just ask Gerard Depardieu and Brigit Bardot! :))))))

Tovarishchi Managers, We welcome you!

D.

@Gabriel
Actually I think the CPU is imperfect already in many occasions, such as buying players only to sell them just a few ticks later for lesser prices. More like a drunk CPU, really :)
But yeah, CPU should apply various strategies depending on what their objectives are and so on

@Filipe, Charles, Gabriel
From what I have seen the 5million starting price is the top nowdays for youths. Interesting enough, I noticed a wave of high priced youths in England about 4-5 seasons ago, with lots of players starting at above 3 million. It seemed a bit odd, considering that England was ranked 3d or 5th (we jumped straight from 5th to the 3d spot in rankings, so no 4th placement in any season).
My guess would be that the such a wave was the result of the new you feature where countries, independently of their ranking will get once in a while a pool of good youths. Perhaps Gabriel can confirm this somehow? :)

Congrats to Bristol for an excellent overall season. You definitely took the league by surprise with your performances, and there’s still lots of potential in that team to aim much higher :)
This is perhaps the start of a new era, a new British dynasty. The Spanish are looming somewhere in the horizon, but they have some way to go before they get any closer, and we will be waiting, anyway!

Yes, there will be eight groups in SA now, too. That should help the Brazilian teams win more matches, hence collect more pts. On the other hand, there are still too many Brazilian teams playing in the continentals, hence it will continue to play down the country’s avg pts.
Anyway, I would wait till the end of this season…I bet Brazil will gain an avg. of around 85 pts, a significant jump from last seasons.

He is pretty much done. I think there are very rare occasions when a player will start gaining again 1-3 seasons after he has stopped growing, but that’s, indeed, a rarity.
I have this player right now who grew 1 miserable point all last season. Now he is gained already 13 pts.

Basically, the normal standard is that when a player doesn’t gain pts in a season, then he is done!

@Seb

If that old goalie was the only goalie in your team, then the board won’t let you sell, unless you have at least one replacement ready. This has always been the case for goalies, since it’s an important position and you can’t play without one.

Indeed, now the key is for some humans to take on those teams. The Dutch league is full of above average teams, with each of them having a solid base of players to compete or to use them to improve the teams further.

Come on, people, Holland needs to be added to the list of great European countries out there.

PS: Good job, Dimitri. :)

Welcome mate,

You should have allowed Cardiff to the final, for the good of your new country, but I’ll bury the hatchet on that one lol ;-)

I guess England has attracted in all the quality it needs to compete with Spain. This is all becoming very, very interesting for the seasons to come. I expect France to keep its competitiveness, Hertha to rise back from its ashes, and last, but not least, the Dutch League has solid potential to become an important factor in Europe, if only 5-6 managers take up on those healthy CPU teams.

The rest of us in England pray that the new manager at United can be half as good as Filipe and keep some consistency. The new manager should realize that with latest French exodus to Spain, England has a golden opportunity to claim the number 1 spot, and therefore enjoy the best youth pool in this world.

Not to mention the fact that countries like Brazil and Argentina get 10+ teams each in their continental competitions, while European countries get at best only 7 teams.
