iPhone version ftw :)
Ruby is damn slow for the backend processing (right marginais?), it would be great if some logic could be moved to another language to speed things up ;)
Danilo wanted to integrate bugtracking, forums and more in another platform, I don’t know how much he has worked on this aspect.
Finally, as far as my very sporadic contributions are concerned, there should be a new version of the match replay written in Flash (which should look smoother / prettier too)!
(Gabriel: gzip + bytecode all that crappy match replay input format, thanks!)
Wish you all a great new year!
Hah, I still think the default layout should be red.. but either way, yes Nirabdha the new layout is much more flexible, allowing for different colors (green is ready to go too), themes and configurations (such as the regular / miniature options). It should be added really soon.
Ulissão, I find it quite interesting that you actually miss the old stuff because you could use firefox tabs instead of the their new ajax counterparts, does anyone else have a similar opinion?
I would like to add something else as well, legally we couldn’t be using the old layout. It was something taken from a PHPBB theme when RubySoccer was still in beta, and it was supposed to be used temporarely. Anyways I am glad the game is thriving and got successful enough, and that now my friends won’t get sued ;-)
Thank you all for the feedback, positive or negative!
Thorpedo, could you please inform which browser are you using, and maybe take a screenshot? Thank you ;)
UPDATE: actually, it looks wrong on my screen too. Danilo’s fault.
I hope you guys enjoy a more professional look to RubySoccer and some handy features such as hotlists, managers online being on modal boxes (e.g. not a separate page). There are countless things we didn’t have time to implement or change properly yet.
Ulisses, we had 3 colour schemes available: red (default), green and blue, which should be available to the user settings sometime soon ;)
Future changes that I’d like to work on when I have the time are:
1. Modal mailing system (again, not navigating away from any page)
2. Flash match replay using improved graphics (Danilo wanted it 3D, but that would cost him loads of burgers)
3. Newspaper using proper typography (will look and feel like the real thing!)
Cheers ;)
Thanks Filipe, anyways we are working on the rough edges of the layout.. and probably will be for the next few months ;)
I told them the miniature layout is evil, but they won’t listen ;) Nevertheless we’d like the users to have more options, initially we also had a third layout option called “Tiny”, which might be added at a later date.
PS: I didn’t do the newspaper part, don’t blame me guys
Danilo, was it worth a burger?
That looks pretty awesome Vaughn.. if you are working on Photoshop I can put that together into HTML.
I wonder why : ) Have fun bud!
I can make a cake icon! Maybe a hangover icon for the players who went to the party the tick before!
Drag and drug? Must be fun o.O
I just found out how to use it, it is a good web-based system!
1. Access http://site.gravatar.com/
2. Create your account using the same e-mail you used for Ruby Soccer
3. Upload your avatar, and assign it to your e-mail
Takes a couple hours to get published I think, but it works great. Pretty easy.
Show off your gravatars here!
The game is meant to be played in Firefox, other browsers may or may not work. Good to know it works in Mac FF though :)
Agreed.. it works but it isn’t intuitive.
Icons are back to their original size too. New icons for “my team”, “logout” and “enter/exit dimension” have been uploaded.
