Why are we limited to a pre-selected list? Would it be possible to choose whatever player we want from that country?
In larger countries (Brazil, England, Spain…) there are plenty of options and it would be great to have more choices that sometimes are more suitable to a particular tactic than the ones offered by the list
Agree to Joseppi – we should mimic real life here
I admit I’m biased though – already won a league in Brazil due to the ridiculous rule that # of victories is more relevant than goals difference… :-)
And what is the effect of morale on performance?
Can we have an idea on the intensity of the critical morale player on the rest of the squad’s morale?
2) That’s unfortunate, but fair. I guess I’ll change my requirements…
Agree. Just play it safe, check if you have any major contract renewals the following season, plan accordingly (i.e. set your Negotiations to 10) and offer 10-20% more than recommended to every player you really want. Every 10k in salary means ~500k per season – it should not make real difference in the budget and it is definitely not worth it to lose a player for such low amounts
2 quick suggestions on this topic, Gabriel:
1) Can you change the Morale panel so that we can sort by morale status and rank by the morale %? It will make it easier for visualizing and thus managing morale
2) Loan market seems dead in the Fast Ticker. I have from Tac 94 to Sho 96 that I have been trying to loan for over 1 season. I find it hard to believe that no CPU teams can benefit from having those players (I do demand coaching 10, but I imagine there are plenty of teams with that feature). Having loaned players will help control morale levels for upcoming youths. Moreover, it can make the game more competitive as CPU teams will have better squads
How many minutes must a player play for him to consider he was used in the match?
Does number of minutes played or playing in the initial 11 have any influence?
Fast is stuck again
I like Joseppi’s suggestion
I also think it is critical to have clear roles for the players by setting expectations – age is far from being enough (and stars level is a good but not sufficient proxy). When you buy a player or renew the contract you set the role the player will have on the team (star, important, backup, youngster) and the morale would be affected by this. This should be fairly straightforward
When in a competitive bidding process, players should choose the team they are going to play in based in a combination of contract terms, team ranking and playing role (this is harder to create…)
Nevermind – just saw the TL prices are ridiculously high…
I have a few players with Critical morale going to TL now!
I thought we were on trial mode – so I was actually testing how long it takes for them to get to Critical!!!!
What now???
Go to Players, next to where you see Statistics you can now see he Morale
I thought it was a bit harsh to start with – some players that played last league match (before the system was on) are already with Bad morale because they did not play an international match in which I used the reserves. 1 match and they are complaining already? They are part of my first squad!
Another feature from CM that I liked was setting expectations – you hired the player saying whether he would be your star, an important player, or just to add depth to the squad. The more important the role, the more likely you were to hire the player – but you’d better fulfill the promise, otherwise the player would get upset soon.
The point here is: I have some players in my team that are far from being as important as other ones (even some old ones), and that should be OK, as long as this was agreed upon beforehand. I don’t want to rebuild all my reserve squad every year because they do not play enough, and they don’t want to look for a job every year…
Btw, most people prefer sitting on the bench of a great team than playing every match for an OK one…how is club ranking going to play a role here?
Instead of the player with critical morale being instantly TLed, I’d suggest the system used in the old Championship Manager:
- Unsatisfied player ASKS to be Transfer Listed
- If he is not TLed, or TLed by an unreasonable amount, he becomes so annoying that his behavior disrupts the whole locker room – i.e., the whole team morale goes down
- The player does not renew his contract (as point 11 above)
My point is: it is very unrealistic for a player to be automatically TLed. However, it is realistic for the player to so much pressure to the point that is better not to have him in the squad. Yet, you still have more than only 3 ticks to get his morale back
PS: one alternative would be TLing the player only at season end, rather than automatically at any time. This is even more realistic…
Venga a Paraguay!
For the first time in history a Paraguayan team will bring home the title of Champion of the Americas. Either Luque or Asunción will celebrate the Libertadores title as Sportivo Luqueño will play Olimpia in the final.
Delio Martinez, Paraguay international star and Sportivo’s captain has caused a stir in the country when he commented “Luque will crush those snobs from the capital” after learning Sportivo would play Olimpia for the title. “Referee won’t help them now like he helped them in the Cup’s final”. Riots were reported between supporters from both teams after the declarations.
Manager Fabio Moraes challenged Olimpia’s coach for a beer – winner takes all!
How long do players hold a grudge? What if I try to renegotiate the contract way before the renewal date…will the player ever forgive me?
Apparently some starred players are asking for significantly higher wages than they currently earn. Big risk here!
My fear is losing starred players just because I don’t know what is the base offer for such a player!
Never mind, just saw a gold star…those are very rare, apparently :-)
Fun stuff!
I can’t tell the difference between bronze and gold (or have not seen a gold star yet) though
Any news here?
According to game rules (60% Kpg, 40% Spe) Keeper 2 is better (93.4 vs. 91.2 weighted avg). Seems like a good enough keeper to me to get you through any championship (off course, a better GK is always better…)
I like the idea of nationality playing a role. Perhaps players playing outside their continent of origin lose 1pt?
I wanted to check with other managers how they see the changes after these few months.
My take is that it is much better in general. Now teams have an incentive to sell good players – they are expensive but can be bought. The incentive to spend all your money before season end is over, which makes the game more realistic. Transfer budget helps keep the transfer prices somewhat limited to max of $20m (have not seen deals larger than that)
Salaries are also more down to earth. As expected, estimated value does not mean much (means as much as it did before the change…)
I also like the fact that we do not need to wait for those 12 ticks without buying players early in the season. That period concentrated a lot of good players being sold by the computer and everyone knew it, so there was fierce competition and salaries offered were crazy.
In the Medium Tick the new system seems to be working perfectly.
In the Fast Tick, however, building a team became too easy. I am not sure why but there are tons of players 90+ transfer listed for the estimated price or lower, plus other many free listed. It took me 1/3 of a season to build a team from scratch that is arguably as good as the one I was managing before. If this goes on, considering the low transfer price and low salary, it will be a better deal to buy +32y old players every 2-3 seasons and then discard (rebuild your team every 2 seasons) them then buy youths and wait years for them to develop, running the risk of making a wrong bet…
Anyway, wanted to get your views
Enough :-)
Looking for a world class GK:
- Kpg: 92+
- Spe: 88+
- Hea: 85+
- Age: under 29
I think it got stuck again
A couple of suggestions that could make the game more interesting:
PLAYER STATS
There could be some basic stats on player performance. We already have some like Goals Scored and Avg. Rating. Suggestions for other useful ones are below. They are all supposedly easy to add, as the necessary data is already captured each match, just not compiled.
- Assists (the most useful one)
- Tackles p/ game
- Fouls committed
- Passes completed (%)
- Shots completed (%)
- Goals from free kicks (penalties, fouls, corners) -> this could be player &/or team stats
PLAYER AWARDS
Some basic individual awards could be given (and registered in the player history). Very useless, but fun (it would be fun to say you hired the player with most assists 2 years in a row in the Bolivian League..). Ideas for awards are:
- Top Goalscorer (per championship)
- Top Assists
- Top Tackles per Game (if played > 15 matches)
- Top GK Saves per Game (if played > 15 matches)
- Team of the Year (top 11) —> based on avg. rate if played > 15 matches. Use a basic tactic (4-4-2, for example). We’d be able to see the top 10 player for each position (like in CM or Managersim)
Let me know what you guys think!
Could be fun
Fortunately!
