I found RubySoccer when I tried to Google if Soccersim/Managersim still existed, but that was only because someone mentioned it in the Facebook Soccersim group. Perhaps there are more former SS/MS players doing this. So what does Google give you?
If I Google for Managersim, first place is a Rubysoccer forum post. Yay!
If I google for Soccersim, 30th place is a Rubysoccer forum post. Booh!
I tried some other search terms too:
Football manager game → No Rubysoccer in the first 50 results (hattrick only 34th to be fair)
Soccer manager game → No Rubysoccer in the first 50 results (hattrick 23rd)
For ‘football manager’ or ‘soccer manager’ there is a lot of competition, so it won’t be easy to get a high ranking for these search terms (which would probably mean attracting new players). But it should be possible that people searching for Soccersim find Rubysoccer easily, shouldn’t it?
Two seasons ago relegation, last season second in the second league, now third in the highest league. Europe watch out! :)
Check http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/fantasy-football-injuries/
Arsenal has nine injured players now…
Another idea is that a new manager can’t be inactive as long as a 5 seasons manager can be.
By the way, will the salary demands of young players also be much higher?
Or tripled even (from less than 100k to 331k).
The announcement said “young players’ value will be a little higher” but I think it’s more than a little bit? Two of my young players have doubled in value so far.
How do you experience RubySoccer? Why do you play, what is it that you enjoy about it? Does the game sometimes annoy you also?
What I like and enjoy about it is building up a team. Getting young players and seeing them improve. Also in the morning I make sure to login before 10AM to check the result of the nightly league game. And each tick I hope to get ‘Player skills increased’ messages. And I can spent quite a bit of time looking for youths in the transfer market of different countries…
The 30 player limit and the slowness of the game sometimes is a bit annoying, but I guess self-restraint and patience are virtues. Still I’m curious of how my teams will look in a few months.
I like the changes!
“good approach, but i guess from now on no one will sell/TL a player 23yro or younger due their lower value (~2-6m) x3 …”
The young players will get higher values, so I think they will get transferlisted (though perhaps a bit less).
Actually it’s the same in the world cup: qualification for the next round can be decided by drawing of lots (if everything is equal).
There are always two questions important for game elements like this: does it make it more fun for individual players, and is it better for the game as a whole. Getting bad youth players is no fun, but it’s good for the game that they exist. Getting good youth players with low stamina is no fun, but would it be bad (or a tiny bit worse) for the game if they start at 90? If you think it is, I have no problems with it, but if you didn’t really think about it I hope you will.
I am wondering about the stamina of new young players. I got a good one, but his stamina is 66. Is this just bad luck? Wouldn’t it be better if they all start with 100? Now it’s like getting a new toy but you are told you cannot play with it for a month…
Two years ago it was like this (and probably it didn’t change):
“When a team balance becomes negative, the following steps will happen to revert the situation (notice the process stops as soon as the balance becomes positive again):
1) Physio department will be downgraded
2) Coaching department will be downgraded
3) Transfer listed players will be “sold” and will retire, highest wages first (at least 14 non-youth players will be left)
4) Non keepers players will be "sold"and will retire, highest wages first (at least 13 non-keepers, non-youth players will be left)
5) Keepers players will be "sold"and will retire, highest wages first (at least 1 non-youth keeper will be left)
6) Loaned players will be "sold"and will retire, highest wages first
If that’s not enough, the manager will be fired and the team restructured:
1) Wages will be reduced to normal levels when applicable
2) Money injection so the team is back on regular financial situation"
It would be geekier if you would not only keep the emails, but also keep track of the amount of experience points each player has!
Oops! Then I have nothing to offer :P
Too lazy to mail, so:
http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/146030
20 years, Estimated Value: $280,347 , transfer price: $154,709
http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/136465
22 years, Estimated Value: $753,775 , transfer price: $453,775
There are two clubs bidding for him though, but I don’t mind to up the price for him ;)
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned already, since it it old (it happened in season 20) but the following transfers are very suspicious.
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Ernesto Barbosa 15000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Jorge Acevedo 20000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Matias Moralez 15000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Antonio Pampana 20000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Antonio Roa 15000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Ramón Arnaz 15000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Gonzalo Bauza 10000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
114 Flávio Galante => Aiko Alin Sebastián Palermo 15000000 Transfered from San Martin Tucuman to TuS Koblenz
Now if you look at TuS Koblenz (http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/team_players/511) you’ll see that these players have averages under 70. Two seasons ago it was probably about 65 average. It seems that the players have been sold for prices ten times as high as their true worth.
Apart from investigating the managers, shouldn’t the values of the players also be corrected?
Well, it’s good that you posted it here with all the evidence, so it can be investigated.
I noticed Player Stats now has the word ‘Internationalizations’ which probably is intended to mean how many games a player has played for the national team. I don’t think this is the correct word though. I think the word must be ‘Caps’ but perhaps a native English speaker can confirm this.
Come to Holland! :)
Ah yes, my bad. Very suspicious indeed.
“5 million dollars for a retiring player… when you have NO games left (only friendlies…) that is the DEFINITION of CHEATING.”
He did play a full season though!?
Everything well now: Your Performance: 69%
Check the bugs forum.
Correction: it’s even more than three hours.
Fastticker tick is now running for more than an hour…
E C C sounds reasonable.
This does not: “New countries: yes, totally agree, the more the better.”
Why would this be so? I think it’s better to concentrate on getting new managers then new countries. Without new managers, new countries will probably be almost empty.
In principle, I think everyone leagues with human managed teams are more interesting than leagues with mainly cpu managed teams. So I think it would be better if people are allowed to manage both a club and a national team. It happens in real life too (Advocaat, Hiddink), I don’t think there are big objections and it’s better for the game.
Things have changed.
After six games my results were 2 ties, 4 losses, 4-10.
After twenty-six games 15 wins, 7 ties, 4 losses, 80-21…
Not sure what made the change, but I have good hope to go back to the Eredivisie.
I remember when playing Soccersim, I thought the Dutch names were often strange. Now with Rubysoccer I still think that way, especially the first names. I checked some of them with the First Names Database on internet, and they do not exist in the Netherlands. It also seems that sometimes names which would be normal last names are used as first names.
Is there any way I can help with this?
