The selection boxes Gabriel mentioned would be nice for while, sometimes I need to make small changes in the formation sceen but can get to a computer to do them. If you think it is simple to do while you dont have that other java thing, this simpler screen would be much appreciated :D

Cheers

I will try changing the javascript framework we use in there for something else, its been a while since our last tech update. That will take a little bit of time, but it may fix the problem.

lol, thanks for the quick reply and yes, besides the drag and drop it works really perfect. The reason for me is a vacation coming up and I don’t want to bring
my heavy laptop with me, but rather prefer a light Ipad mini… oh,oh, the troubles in this materialistic world… ;-p

Not sure if someone else’s got a solution, but we are aware of this limitation. I’ve recently experienced the game in a tablet and it looks really nice, except for the useless drag and drop. A solution we might have to implement while we don’t have a full mobile version is an alternative formation screen for mobile devices with selection boxes for the positions.

I don’t know if its been brought up already, but you can play RS perfectly on a touchscreen in the form of
an IPhone or IPad, but the only thing you cannot chance is chance a player in your formation. Does anyone have
a solution that might help, or could this be resolved?

Thanks in forward!

I have to say that was one of your best posts, Davison :-D

Anyway, the current situation, huh? Well, not much happening at the moment as I have been travelling for work in the past 2 weeks and didn’t want to spend much of the weekend working on RS. That might change next week.

As I said recently I’m working on improving the scouting functionality and allowing managers to have scout reports for players. My plan after that is to look into physio, player morale and tweak the wage/budget values, not necessarily in that order.

I’ll try to provide updates more often, I think that’s a good idea to help me keep the momentum when I’m working on something new.

Cheers

Well, I too quit a well paid job because they wouldn’t give me more money, but the point is not that. The situation with the players is a bit different. I think the “bossman” thing changed football quite a bit but still I don’t know of players who would >quit< a premier league side to take their chances as a free agent. Maybe there are many such examples, I don’t know.

board points are fine. however i think total wage @ 10 level should be lowered to that that is 5 why ?

people offer retarded wages 300k ect with out player moral there is no way for this to be detrimental to the team.
esp when shit avg players want 40k wages.

i would like to see when any player in the game is being posted as near contract end… any manager should be allowed to talk to that players agent during a transfer window. that way a manager must fight to keep his players happy

we need player moral, star system instead of est value, scouting needs to not just be some shit the manager does in some crappy search engine. should also include an option for the scout be it player scout or team scout ( for future vs games) in the report should state (depending on the level invested) who is the most dangerious ect and also be able to add in game tactics who to make sure to cover and shut down.

theres so much to be done and i cant see it happening soon enough :( i understand you have a life gabriel this isnt a knock on you. but please give your self a goal, set that goal, and let us know a timeline of things you are working on. more updates on progress.

you arnt going to be make everyone happy ( me inc) but do your vision. listen to advice but make sure it is sound advice.

the more options a manager has to be able to put their imprint on a teams make up the better. more is better but we must work on it one by one so keep up the good work.

whats the current situation ?

Berhan, if we do what you say we would bring back the money concept and have to deal once again with the balance issues we are trying to avoid (or at least reduce) using the points system. If you want to role play you may consider the board is using the money for other things and also getting money from different sources (TV revenue, sponsors, marketing, etc) and making available to you a particular amount depending on the level you request on that investment area.

@amacb you have to admit it could happen. A player with great shooting but that plays awkwardly when put in the attacking positions :-)
Anyway, that’s a future improvement to allow a player to train a different position or side.

Two players listed, both great potential you may improve to top stars.

Maidana is 26 but as you can see in his stats has much to improve yet, a probably 100 pass player for those of you who like that :D

Make your offer, or be sorry when they confirm to be as I predicted :P

You have Roberto Carlos and you want to use him as a stricker?

Just kidding, he would be a nice stricker, and I believe we will have that option some time in the future, but seems to me not in his “life” time… And this is probably not the right topic either lol

Anyway, for the time being he seems a potential great D+1, a little more tackle and would be perfect for the position…

Correction, the player refused 42226 and firmly restated his wish to be paid 42227. One dollar..
Too bad I don’t know a suitable Jewish joke about this! :)

Can you fix this please ? :)

http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/364878

I cant use this player as attacker eventhough he has very good shooting ability because he is a defender by default and would get -3 penalty in all skills playing as an attacker, correct?

Well this doesnt make sense. We should be able to change players positions. Maybe by using some “board points” i dont know.

regards

I’m not quite sure what your point is, but your third sentence suggests you want to abolish the points system, or at least for the transfer budget?

Thanks for the answers Gabriel! I think it would be more logical to have “Defenders tend to pass more frequently while attackers and wingers less frequently.” in the explanation of passing at the /player_skills page.

Filipe, for a weaker team to beat Barcelona, copying their tactics will normally not work. As I said yesterday, " You should play in whatever works for your players."

I can tell from experience that the wage formula is less simple than you make it seem…

well, no, if you are calling it BUDGET; make it work like a budget.

Why would you even bother transferring money to points and/or leaving 50%?!

Transfer money should be based on the money club has, that money is not to be taken out of thin air but based on the accumulated income/spending of the club, that is the previously known as MONEY variable.

THE transfer money budget is to be based on a set amount (from start/first time) then later on it “will live its own life”, the amount from transfers kept goes to that variable and the rest to the clubs main account.

So when you have a lower percentage of transfer amount kept say you keep 20% and the 80% is taken, that 80% is to be taken into the main account of the club and HAS to be the ground for next seasons budget.

Another example:
So if you made 40M of transfers and you kept 20M (50%) and 20M (50%) was taken by board, next season you could keep the same amount of investments (50%/50%) then the club could do this:
1) ALWAYS keep X% for costs incase you do not make any money from transfers, ie securing current wage for the next 5 seasons, then the REST is your starting amount.

2) depending on -tage and in this case it’s 50 of that amount (see #1) is to be the BUDGET for this season offered by the board.

So you have your 20M from last season + 50% (your investment level) of whatever number club can afford to put as budget.

Now, if the main account does not have enough funds to secure x number of seasons wages, then they should just take whatever they can from each transfer and push you a message saying, “sorry but running costs make us put a transfer embargo until we have better economy” or something similar.

The post is no more silly than the logic, of a player being offered a wage of 42225 but wants 42227 and refuses to lower his wage. If that is not just silly, then I don’t know how could I ever explain it.

It is not me not being able to afford his “high” demands, it is flaw in logic, as I see it. Anyone with two peas as brain would gladly take 2 dollars wage drop in order to keep getting almost same money (while being 3 years older since he last agreed to the 2 dollar higher wage).

I am trying to highlight areas in the game which need improvement, please do not confuse me for the majority of people who complain over their misfortune to have lost all their money, lost a game which clearly they should have won, why their youth is not improving as other’s and so on.

If you have truly understood my issue with this then you’d understand that this is a flaw in logic. No one with brain substance would argue about 2 dollars and risk losing 40k+ check every wage period, no?

Sure, with the way the economy works, the player would not be renewing, become a free agent and probably land a 60k wages, but that is not the issue. If we are going to play the game by the rules of the game world and ignore the real life values and logic, then nothing is broken, it is even perfect because the logic says, the player is aware of the economy in the game world and “knows” that once he is a free agent, he will land a higher salary. Actually then he should/would even ask for a higher salary, if he really knows his value and it’s a “principle” thing.

BUT I doubt it is so. I am guessing it’s simply a formula that needs to be fine-tuned, in my opinion of course.

I understand both views, I’ll try to add clarifications to the help without spoiling anything. For now, quick Q & A:

Q: Does this mean A0 is about 14 squares from the goal?
A: Roughly speaking, yes

Q: Easy → Lower chance on a succesful tackle, lower chance on a foul, higher chance on a failed tackle.
Normal → Default
Hard → Higher chance on a succesful tackle, higher chance on a foul, lower chance on a failed tackle.
A: Yes

Q: Does the last sentence say that defenders pass more frequently than midfielders? If so, why is it mentioned here and not in the description of passing skills?
A: Yes, because intuitively a defender wants to clear the ball from his field.

Q: In real life, the longer the pass, the higher the chance it fails. I suppose it’s the same in RS?
A: Yes

Q: Is pass accuracy just influenced by passing or also by tackling skill of the opponent?
A: Tackling has no influence on passing. The ball may bounce or be intercepted by a player in the middle of the way (if it was not a “high pass”). The chance of the intercepting player controlling the ball or have it close to him depends on its control skills.

Q: And in long range, someone playing DR, does he have the same chance passing to DL/ML and AR or would he prefer AR?
A: It has the same chance as long as the players are within range

Q: L and R are wingers, C is a central player. Do RC and LC also counts as central? Or would ‘Along sides’ means RC/LC will get more passes than C?
A: RC/LC will get more passes than C

Q: He will always shoot, even when there are a lot of defenders blocking the shot?
A: Not necessarily, the player may be smart enough to find a better position

Q: I suppose the further away, the more chance of failing (shooting)?
A: Yes

They should acept sure, but to give them that intelligence would probably take good time from other improvements. I dont think this is so important as that… As Sly said, if they should lower 2 dollars, why shouldn’t you? :D

sorry dude, but yes it’s stupid to try this. Why bother over 2 dollars? Sorry but I find this to be a silly post. I’m sure you got plenty left in your budget. Besides, as a person you have to draw the line somewhere :)….and make a point! It’s the players right to refuse your offer, even if it’s just 2 dollars….

I recall in the early day’s having a player listed for 70 mill. I made a deal with another manager. This was alot of money 60 seasons ago. I had a guy offering 69 mill, and he said “I never offer the full amount for players on TL”. Now I know, what’s 1 mill more or less, but I made it a matter if principle. The deal was 70 and not 69. So I told him “there is a first time for everything”. I refused to lower it for 1 mill since I just thought it was very silly from his side. Don’t be cheap and offer that 1 extra mill. I’m the one selling….you WANT MY PLAYER. So like I said, there was a principle involved….

So let me just say, I know exactly how your player must feel :)

Come on, it’s silly a player refusing a wage that is 2 dollars less than the proposed/wanted wage?!
Please fix this, it shouldn’t take too many minutes.

/BK

ps. just in case you do not understand what I mean, when negotiating wages, player will not accept anything less than exactly what they want. Right now I am haggling over 2 dollars. One could say I am stupid to try but it’s just so silly they won’t accept a wage 2 dollars less of what they want, specially if we are talking about a wage around 42225 offered vs 42227 wanted. What is the logic there?

Well said Filipe. I meen, I guess I complain as much about random results as the next guy, but over the course of a season usually it all evens out. Sometimes you outplay someone and later on it’s visa versa. Like Vaughn said, if it was all random you wouldn’t see the same Managers create great teams and win prizes over and over…..
