Post from spartacus55 on Improvements topic:

“UK Cup is better known as FA Cup.”

I’ve just changed that, thanks spartacus! And please, posts about improvements should be made on this topic, that one is meant to have only admin posts. :-)

Cheers!

Not on our plans, not sure if it would be good for the negotiation process.

Philipp, I assure you cpu teams don’t look at the other offers before making their own. This team was only lucky to have offered a little more than you. We wouldn’t put such a logic in the game, it wouldn’t be fair :-)

Cheers!

Just to let everybody know, we have changed to that intermediate plan I mentioned. So far so good, the navigation seems to be much better. Let’s wait for the next FastTicker tick before taking any conclusions.

RubySoccer has been pretty unstable these days due to our server change. The main reasons to that change are the several restrictions we had on our previous server, where we were not free to install everything we needed, had some random restarts (which occasionally ocurred during the ticks), misteriously defined cpu share and non-acceptance of paypal as a form of payment.

On this new server we tried to use a different configuration, which looked pretty good in the beginning, but once the ticks run the overall performance was totally compromised due to the low amount of memory available. Unfortunately we have moved back to almost the same configuration we had in the previous server, even though we have more room for changes and growth in the new one.

That said, we’re having a hard time deciding what to do. We’re planning to improve our plan so that we have more memory available and therefore a better navigation performance even when the tick is running and also faster ticks. Ideally we should upgrade to a plan twice as good as ours in order to benefit for all the changes we’ve made for that improved configuration, but we’re not willing to pay for that at the moment, so what’s probably gonna happen is that we take an intermediate one. Hopefully that should be enough for now.

Our game is free and will remain this way, that’s part of our philosophy. Donations are there to help us paying our server and domain costs and improve the service in the future when the game becomes more mature. Let’s put the numbers in the table so that everybody clearly knows where we stand:

-total expenses with servers and domain: US$114,70
-total donations (paypal taxes deducted): US$70,38
-number of donators: 5
-monthly expense on our current plan: US$20,00
-monthly expense on the intermediate plan: US$27,00
-monthly expense on the ideal plan: US$36,00

In the future we’ll have a donations page to display this kind of information.

Remember, we’re not here asking for donations, even though they would certainly help improving the game experience, all we want is make it clear for everybody where we stand infra-structure and financially-wise so you can understand all the unstability we had lately. We’re looking forward to fix that as soon as possible.

Let’s go play and have some fun! :-)

p.s.: Wow, this got to be the longest post I’ve ever written!

That’s the ideia Philipp, it’s just a matter of adapting the match logic to accept that one of the opponents is not defined yet. :-)

About the links on messages, they should be working if you are accessing the game using www.rubysoccer.com

Let’s see how this server works out, we still have the option to go back to the old one.

Cheers.

I’m sorry Torres but there is nothing we can really do at this point. You’re probably not the only one who was not able to connecto to rubysoccer, for a certain period it was reachable only using the ip addres, the regular address (www.rubysoccer.com) was unavailable. Reschedule all the matches for those who are in the same situation as yours would be a great time consuming task as we don’t have nothing to do that “automatically”. I hope everybody who had this problem can understand our side.

Cheers.

You don’t see any matches cause you’ve qualified directly for the second round. In the future we’ll display the unplanned matches even when the opponent is unknown.

New manager applications and resignation rules:

-a manager hired by a team must stay at least 36 turns on that team
-a manager cannot apply for a team he has managed in the last 144 turns

A friend of mine suggested that. I know it would be useful when buying a player for instance, but I have my doubts if not knowing it is good for the game. Anyway, let’s discuss that and see what everybody think about it :-D

No Philipp, another goalie will be used to replace the banned one or, if no goalie is available, the available player with the highest keeping :-)

What Alexandre meant is the “best” available player no matter the position to replace. So in your case you had a banned midfielder and got a striker to replace him. That means your “best” available striker (highest shooting) was better than your “best” available midfielder (highest passing), if you compare the striker shooting with the midfielder passing. Of course this “best” concept is far from accurate and also that is not what you wanted, you wanted your formation to be 3-5-2 and that’s what’s gonna happen when we fix it.

Cheers!

Another controversial point Filipe, whether or not national teams will have managers. When the time comes we’ll see :-)

You’re right, sometimes they accept these 50% reduction. We’ll have to work this out.

Leagues have names now, so instead of simply calling them Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, we call them by their real life names like Premiership, Serie A, 1. Bundesliga, SuperLiga and so on. Let us know if there is anything wrong with the names added.

Cheers!

It is possible to reduce Filipe, but not to a compatible wage. I mean, if you pay 100,000 to a player when he would have accepted 10,000 you won’t be able to renew his contract for 10,000 in the first renewal. Anyway, maybe he should accept a reduction, but not a big reduction as they accept sometimes.

Cheers.

Nice ideias. This whole economy stuff is very complex and a sensitive part of the game. I agree we need to study it better to improve the market and make the game fun for everybody. Certainly we must associate some special rules for teams that are near to bankruptcy and for those who are already negative. It’s not just a matter of firing the manager.

From all the things you guys said we currently have only one in the game, maximum wages, but this maximum is still too high probably. I wish we had more time to implement things faster, but don’t worry, we’ll keep doing the best we can with the time we have :-)

Cheers and thanks for all the suggestions!

We don’t have a good mechanism to forbid the manager from buying players. What we can do is reverse the transfers or fire the players as you guys suggested. We’ll see, the problem here is that our game allowed that, so even though it is not a good practice it was considered “legal” by the game logic. Unfotunately we may have to live with that. The good thing is that won’t happen again after the new rules have been implemented and there is more to come regarding managers changing teams in a short period.

Cheers!

That’s good Philipp and it has been requested a long time ago. Now that we have the 3-turns rule is a good time to start thinking about this change as well. Thanks!

In order to avoid last minute arranged transfers we’ve implemented a new rule to players on transfer list and free transfer. They will only reply the proposals after being free or transfer listed for at least 3 turns. If you make a proposal to a player that has just been transfer listed for instance, you’ll get a reply only after 3 turns, when the negotiations will carry on as usual. Things will remain the same if you make a proposal for a player which has been listed more than 3 turns ago. This 3 turns counter will be reset if the player’s price is changed during negotiations.

Hope these changes help keeping the market a fair place.

Cheers!

Thanks Henrique, we’ll investigate and discuss possible punishments. By the way, this shouldn’t happen again that easily, I’ve just added the rule I mentioned above.
