People don’t sell keepers because they’re so valuable. Eventually that will get balanced out, I hope.
Prices dropped on my players, most notably:

Thanks Gabriel, now at least I know why. Of course I still can’t explain how given a total shots on target edge of 45 to 11 we end up with an aggregate of 2-2, especially given that I’ve got a better keeper and better strikers than the other team. Also crazy is that the team is playing a 4-1-5 and 5-1-4. Is there anyway to improve the AI to have enough players to at least play something fairly standard? I can’t imagine a team ever going with fewer than 3 mids, much less a single one.
Whole variety of players for sale:

Also, can someone explain to me the tiebreaker for a completely tied cup set? Last year I won one, this year I lost, and I can’t tell in either instance.
Bad managing is not the same as cheating. Lots of people overprice their players to start with, and some get lucky enough to have people pay full price.
I must say, this new setup where you aren’t locked out between ticks is absolutely fantastic. A big thank you from me.
What sort of formation and tactics are you using? How is your formation structured? I know I had to do alot of fiddling before I finally got my team playing the way I wanted.

I’m surprised you got someone to go almost 15 on Iturralde – looking at his stats, he’s never played well, despite his ratings. Similar case for Wagner. In a vacuum, with their ratings, those would be decent prices, but anytime I see someone with high ratings and terrible stats, I’m always a bit concerned.
Yeah, a definite no to owning 2 teams. I’d agree with Joseppi that I’d just prefer it if the CPU took more loaned players. Lots of these guys would be huge improvements over what they have, and with many of them requiring little to no salary, it’d make sense.
Yeah, that top player thing should only apply to the top 3-5 players as determined by the board.
Yeah, that sounds alot more reasonable. Maybe if it was something where in the loan options you could select bonus and opt to pay 10 or 20 % of the increase in value.
Not that you need more, but here:

As Ulisses mentions, the concern would be that this would allow the passing of money between teams, potentially making it easier to cheat.
Davison, if you think this game is so terrible, then why bother playing? I’d say we’re getting a pretty good product for our money.
As a note regarding buying players from him. When you buy a player, you can pay less than he’s paying and they’ll often accept. Yes, it’s still alot, but you won’t be stuck with the full 80k. Besides, if you do the math, 80k is 3.8m a year, which compared to actual salaries for professional athletes, is fairly reasonable. If anything our current salaries are way too low.
The reason it won’t bankrupt him is because he resells half of the players which more than covers their wages. I actually brought this up in the suggestions forums, and it was pointed out that while it is an abuse of the system, there’s nothing against the rules. In order to compete for these players, I’ve had to start following a similar tactic, as unpleasant as it might be.
Wow, you need to work on your anger. He’s not cheating. He’s just outbidding everyone. Then, after the 72 ticks, he transfer lists the ones he doesn’t want to keep. Since he’s only paid them a couple million in wages, he makes a profit.
Just as a note, the reason his team’s finances can support this behavior is because he pays 100k wages, which works out to around 5m a year, then turns around and sells them for 10-15m after 9 months to a year. So, he can get the top players in the world, have them for free for a year, and then sell them for a minimum of 5m profit. The rich get richer, while the poor don’t stand a chance. Basically, he’s working the system. Since apparently this is acceptable, I’ve recently sold a player or two to give myself enough cushion for my board to let me spend these obscene wages, because if buying and selling free transfer players like this is ok, it might as well be me making money off of it instead of him.

I do think it might be wise to suspend Bayern from acquiring players via free transfer until a suitable solution is arrived at. He is clearly just abusing the system with little interest in the long-term shape of his franchise.
I want to state that I am not in favor of agent fees, at least not huge ones like managersim had. I really think better (and more realistic) solutions are in changing the way the team’s board allows a team to sign free transfers, and in how a player chooses which team to play for.
A little bit much freaking out here, but this certain is a problem. I was thinking that while it might be ideal to charge fees for free transfer, that doesn’t accurately represent the way soccer works. Maybe if there were a more complicated algorithm, instead of just accepting the highest offer. For example, I can’t imagine some of his recent guys actually choosing his team, given all the competition for playing time they’d have. Maybe even add in player “personalities” so that some players want to play for a winner, and more heavily weight playing in top league, or on a top team, some weight playing time, some weight money, some might weight wanting to play for their home country. That might give a little more variety, and make people feel like they don’t have to pay the max allowed salary.
The other thing that could be fixed is the max allowed salary. There’s no way the board would allow a coach to rack up that much salary. Should be a cap of 2-3 times what a team thinks they can earn in a season, as they don’t want to go broke paying their players. Then, as you start approaching that limit, they get more stingy with what they allow you to spend. Could also factor in past sales of players over the last year or two to allow teams that wisely develop and sell players to spend more.

That’d be myself. I just joined up here after stumbling across it. I played ManagerSim years ago, and was pretty decent. However here, I take over a team, and it promptly goes in the tank. I swear the CPU is a better manager than I am. I’m currently running out a pretty standard 4-4-2 with my best players, have passing medium, have tried both shooting medium and shooting short, passing normal, tackling normal, passing along sides. Obviously my team is nothing special, but most of the teams in my league aren’t either (Progreso in Uruguay lg 1). Just wondering if there’s some tricks to know about the way the engine is structured, or if my team is just even worse than I think they are.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.
I don’t know if the game engine can handle it, but it’d be nice to have a larger number for max strategies than 10. I know myself, given the game situation, would move players around, and just covering a single situation, like behind, can easily take 4 to 5 of those slots.
Perfect. I was trying to use the buttons on the page, not a button on my keyboard.
