@Alexandre: yes, we plan to have something similar and give more free will to the player.
@Vaughn: yes, cpu teams surely need to be more interactive and improve their lineups, that’s for sure! I’ve add an enhancement for that.
@Sly: I don’t like the idea of ghost countries, I’d rather improve CPU teams and add more manageable countries.
@Filipe: I don’t like the idea of giving RS money for those who bring users to the game, we already have enough problems with cheaters and multi-users and this is not easy to monitor. If we have a pay-to-play system we’d certainly have this kind of reward, as people would have to pay if they wanted to cheat ;)
The difference between the variables size and the actual words that will replace them is usually small enough to be ignored. You can trust the character count for now :)
On RS all the 5 penalty kicks are taken, no matter the score. Yeah, I know, it’s silly…I’ll change that ;)
We added South America because we missed it on MS and we were able to attract lots of brazilians to the game because of that. We added Europe because it has great leagues and international competitions in real life, and that’s what we should start with as we came from MS. We simply couldn’t start with only one of them :D
We understand more countries are fundamental for the fun of the game, even if we don’t have enough people on them yet ;)
I’d like to standardize this number of teams per division, something around 20, where 3 would be relegated. I’ll make a poll about that. The reason behind this is again to give all countries similar chances to compete.
We want to go further than ManagerSim, so Europe wouldn’t be enough! :D
We can’t forget the difference that would cause between european and south american competitions. I believe we are going in the standardization direction, not implementing that kind of specific rules. I’m tempted in doing a poll about that, as I said, cause we have to choose to either have the specific rules or a more integrated RubySoccer world were every country / continent follow the same standard rules so they can be compared and compete fairly against each other.
I’ve read a little bit about uefa cup and europa league on wikipedia…it’s far more complex than that. I know it’s cool when things are designed like in real life but we’ve been trying to standardize some things in the game to make it faster to develop and maintain, and also to make it fair for all countries. For instance, in some countries the national cup winner go to uefa cup, but in Brazil the cup winner goes to Libertadores (which would be equivalent to CL). Maintaining each country / continent specific rules could be hard, and making international cups completely different between continents could unbalance the ranking.
We will add a fake club world cup, so I guess most people are not really concerned about no following all real life rules. Of course we can always make polls to find out :D
You’re right, this one shouldn’t be hard ;)
In which uefa round eliminated CL teams should join?
What the…I have no idea of what happened, let me fix this.
As soon as we have enough match results articles to launch the newspaper we’ll start adding more categories ;)
By the way, don’t think we wasted our time with this new mailing editor, we got this free functionality from another website, it was just a matter of adding a few lines of code so we won’t be sad if we don’t use it.
Few posts from the admins only thread about new mailing editor :
Sly – I prefer very simple mailing. This just suxx
Philipp Leibeck – thanks for the effort, though for ingame mailing a plain notepad is enough imo. the new version has a lot to offer, but is not necessary/adequate.
Vaughn – rather see a simple friends list to choose from :)
I personally think it’s unnecessary, but we decided to give it a try ;)
When I said %{match.winner_team.manager.name}, please read %{match.winner_team.manager_name}
I guess Nirabdha was refering to www.linode.com, our ISP address. The links Danilo listed are a good way to know if we are experiencing any kind of trouble. Twitter should be the best option, we’ll try to always inform you guys there if the site has problems.
@Nirabdha: you almost got it right…it is %{match.winner_team.manager.name}
Our focus now is the newspaper. Of course I’ve been doing some smaller things in parallel, but mostly bug fixes or really small enhancements. As always, it’s hard to say when things will happen, but I expect to start something more interesting next week.
We already opened a ticket complaining about that to our host. Something is definitely wrong, nothing changed dramatically to cause this slowness.
1. Let’s see how much we’ll be able to spread them. Remember they will start earlier in the season due to the new club world cup format, but they have to end before the world cup starts.
2. We’ll have them, for sure, when we have more countries ;)
3. Not sure yet. This was my initial idea, so we’ll probably do that.
When you win the performance raises at least 1%, no matter what was expected :)
Right now you’re below middle in table (13th-16th) and for what I’ve seen from your matches this season there are few that could have made you lose more than 1 board point and usually you victories are probably just giving you 1 board point. Everything looks ok, it’s just too hard to be a manager on Brazil (I have experience on that, was fired in less than 1 season from Cruzeiro :P )
I would like to add that you can write articles both from the winner point of view or the loser point of view. For example:
Flamengo beats Vasco. As expected, Flamengo had no problems against Vasco on this league match.
OR
Vasco defeated by Flamengo. As expected, Vasco had no chances against Flamengo on this league match.
If his rating is less than 5 he definitely screwed up :D
When he plays the entire match he has more time to participate in the game and have higher ratings. As I mentioned in other topic, I’ve created an enhancement to better evaluate the player effectiveness in the match.
There are 3 scenarios:
1) you are already logged in and inside a dimension before clicking the link
In this case you’re probably logged in on rubysoccer.com while the links refer to www.rubysoccer.com
2) you are logged in but is not inside any dimension
In this case you are directed to the enter dimension page
3) you are not logged in
In this case you are directed to the login page
For scenarios 2 and 3 what we could do is store the link you originally wanted to go to and as soon as you enter a dimension take you to that page. For scenario 2 we could try to make you automatically enter the right dimension and take you to the page. Not as simple as it seems.
Merchandising income is proportional to the players’ quality, the thing is the numbers are ready for really, really crap players, not the good ones you have in Russia, that’s why the difference is not that big :D
And yes, if you perform well and get top players like top Brazilian teams your income will be 500k per week as well.
@Alban: stadiums should be bigger :)
Yeah, it was in our heads since the beginning, but it was only when Danilo looked at that map in the link he posted above that he decided to finally add it to RubySoccer. And it was ready in the next day :D
Só pra constar, as palavras em itálico são minhas mesmo ;)
I had to manually generate the next round for national cups on Brazil and Argentina, that’s why the matches are scheduled for turns 50 and 56 instead of 49 and 55 as in other countries.
Had problems with the last two ticks, that’s why they took so long.
