no, i dont think it is a bug. we will double check that.

but to generate 100% balanced championships can be a very difficult math problem. that subject is even targeted by a good number of university papers. our approuch, like all others, is not perfect and may cause unfair situations sometimes. but dont worry, you will have more luck next season :).

ruby on rails is a little bit tricky on encoding. it also has some performance problems (related to that). there are hoaxes saying that the ruby new version will not have those problems, but lets see.
In the meanwhile we will do our best to fix the problems we find and you guys point to us… :)

a brazilian match has an average of 40 fouls per game (depending on the year, in fact). Maybe we should add a “country” modifier to the foul odds, but of course that a match would have the ceil average, considering both teams (meaning that even a premiership team would have more fouls if playing against a brazilian team).

but on a second thought, we may only get the numbers a little bit down and do it for all the countries. to make that odd country-dependable would bring a complexity that would not add anything to the game fun.

One thing that can happen is that your GK was used to complete the formation, without your knowledge. You have to double check your match report to be sure.

what is the average number of fouls on your country soccer games? for a match here in brazil the number reported by commanche would not surprise, like Gabriel said. Also, with the change for fouls inside penalty area, that should drop a little bit.

But please note that commanche game really had a high number of fouls even considering the new logic. We have to consider the whole group of new games and check their numbers too.

As promised, we have some improvements on match.

- More realistic fouls and card numbers. (That includes less chances to get a another yellow card (red), if your player already have one)
- A couple bug fixes

Those changes should bring a good change on matches. But we are still planning a lot of tweaks, stay tuned!

ps: we did not tweak the rating system yet.

some may consider a bug, some may not. it depends of the squad. if you put albania youths to play agains a mature brazilian team, i would not think that it is a bug, maybe :).

Top scorers done. Please note that I had to implement player history in order to do that (we did not have this before), that is why we have a low number of goals.

well, when i wrote bench i was trying to think of a word to represent a place where you may drop players that are in the field and you want to remove. yes, that is a little bit missleading. but only if you dont know that, on RS, all players are reserves.

Help wanted: we need a couple of you guys to help us organize the bugs inside bugzilla. Time for us to start growing this team, it is difficult for me and Gabriel to take care of everything.

That doesnt mean that the rest of you can’t enter the bugs in bugzilla on your own, but the idea is to have a couple guys to organize things there and enter the bugs that are reported on forum but not there.

We needed a way to track your requests and the things that are happening inside rubysoccer.

As a result, we will give bugzilla a try. A bugzilla problem is that the user base will not be integrated with RS. An advantage is that it is a pretty mature bug tracking system. Let´s see what happens. It was a pain (yeah, right there) to install that on our server, where we don’t have root access.

Please help us by entering bugs/enhancements requests there. This will be an evaluation time for bugzilla here, but let´s make the best of it!

yep, beast error is something generic for erros on rubysoccer. it is a clean screen for you guys to look at, while we will analyze the real error later. we will look into this contract stuff error, but i suspect that the error happened during one of our maintenances.

yep, as we said, we are planning to sit down and spend a good amount of time with the match algorithm, next week. but it is as sherman said, to only spit good numbers is easy. but we want to do that with a REAL match going on. because, in future (I hope a near one) we will show the match full replay to the players.

Sometimes rubysoccer experiences speed problems. That is a technical issue on our host (westhost). It seems that some process (not on our account) is taking more resources than it should be – at least that is what their technical staff tells us.

I wanted to let you guys know that we are taking care of the problem.

I’ve noticed that many of you think that the formations screen is not that fast. You have to remember that drag and drop is an asyncronous operation. s###, what the heck he means with that???.

Well, in practice that means you can drag and drog as many players you want. One after another, without having to wait for anything to end. The result may take a little while to appear, but all the operations will be performed. Try it!

yes, we have been analyzing some numbers and behaviors and will tweak match very soon. on the other hand, we have lots of good results too!

we are coding things in such way that, in future, we will show what really happened during the match. that is possible because the match is really played, since our first algorithm version, and with a good level of granularity.
