By the same token, should there not be such a punishment on playing young players, it seems to me that you have to buy old ageing players to do well whereas in real life this isn’t the case at all.

When morale is implemented, will this also be tied into being able to have larger squad sizes?

When will morale be implemented, you have been speaking of this for years. Is it still talk or is it being worked upon?

Personally I think there need to be more things added to the game that keep me wanting to play. At the minute, there is virtually nothing to do once you have picked the team, this doesn’t seem right to me for a management game.

How about increasing the squad size and adding the morale aspect to stop squads getting ridiculously large? For me the squad size at present seems too small, which limits the amount of things you can do with your club/squad.

I am sure you noticed we’ve had some changes recently – like the new Mobile UI

Nope, hadn’t noticed as I don’t use my mobile for online stuff. But what the game needs is new features, not just making it playable on a mobile. I log in, look at the team then log out, there is nothing else to do. Apart from the change to board points, there seems to have been very little added or developed in the game in a long time. There needs to be more to do as a manager to keep people logged onto the site for a longer period of time, it all seems very stale/static at present.

I won the Euro cup a few years back and the board still hated me and gave me a 1% rating for my job, so someone stole my job and I left in disgust for a year!

Last season after promotion the board wanted me to fight against relegation, managed to avoid relegation by a few points. This season they want me to “fight for the title”, seems a little unrealistic to me.

I’ve written a number of newspaper articles that are over a year old that are still waiting for approval. Even something simple like new content in the newspaper might feel like it is starting to spark the game back into life, even if everything stays the same as it was before.

If users are generating content, but the devs aren’t using it, what incentive is there for people to continue trying to help improve a game that isn’t theirs?

I won the Euro cup and was mid table, sounds like a foolish move to me, but maybe I’m biased.

So that is a polite way of saying, “someone applied for your job.” I have no real problem with this, it’s annoying but if you ever go to a pay to play model I’m guessing you’d have to remove this, otherwise there will be some unhappy customers.

Does the board sack you, or is it a case of someone applying for your job when you are less than 10% in favour with the board?

I have been sacked from both games in the past month and would be interested to know if it was people applying for my job or the board actually sacking me.

There was mention that squad sizes might be increased or the limit on the number of players being removed at some point, I think this was at the same time as player moral was meant to be rolled out. Is this idea of an increased squad size still being thought about or considered?

I’m currently working on a project that is soon to be released on YouTube. Working with a writer @CZHazard who has written a book about the porn industry and wrestling, which I personally really enjoyed, called Not In The Eye (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Not-Eye-C-Z-Hazard-ebook/dp/B00BIU1U46/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407105838&sr=8-1&keywords=not+in+the+eye). Ironically I’m working with a writer on an unscripted project!

The project we are working on has the catchy title of “Unfunny People In Cars Getting Stuff”, an ongoing web series chronicling the adventures of @CZHazard and @CorSomething as they use different cars to get stuff. One part “Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee”, one part “Top Gear” and one part the cheap section of Auto Trader, with the occasional good vehicle thrown into the mix just to keep you guessing.

We have a few trailers live on YouTube and it should be released pretty soon. If you have a spare few minutes and would have a look, it will be much appreciated. I would also welcome feedback, both positive and negative. But would prefer, likes, subscriptions and people to share it! Thanks for looking.

This has been mentioned before, but it’s broken.

My aim for the season was to stay in the division. I do this easily and turn my budget of 85m into just over 1billion and the investments come at the beginning of the season and my club is now worse than before.

This needs fixing. If a club made 1 billion in real life they wouldn’t go backwards.

Personally I think the match engine is the most important part of the game that needs to be worked on, so that some actual real world tactics or similar can be used and tactics maybe able to overcome a stronger team.

I also think that allowing larger squads with morale being introduced would be good. Maybe with the idea that certain players if they become unhappy could cause unrest within larger squads.

I also believe that currently it is too hard to please the board. A few seasons ago I managed to avoid relegation from the Premiership in the last day of the season, however the board still hated me and at the end of the season they were 1% happy with me. The next season I almost made the Champions League and they were still less than 25% happy with me. Once you get into the low figures, unless you are a miracle worker it seems very hard to please the board. Therefore reading the ideas of manager contracts would be an absolute disaster in my mind. Especially if you took on a more challenging role as manager, there would almost be no hope of survival.

I could suggest ideas all day long, but without a better fully working match engine (I do appreciate your work) I’m not sure they are worth it. I’m not sure if anyone remembers but there was a football management game called Player Manager by Dino Dini with the top down Kick Off view on the Amiga (yes I know I am old). That had a really simple tactics engine, where the field was divided into 12 squares and you could place your players via drag and drop to anywhere on the field dependent upon whether you or the opposition had the ball. You could see the 12 squares for possession and without the ball. You then clicked square 1 – 12 and could place your men for when the ball was in that square with and without the ball. You could also turn on lines to see where they had run from. This was really simple, but ultra effective in my mind. (http://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-st/player-manager/screenshots/gameShotId,113568/ – sorry no videos I can find) Maybe something like this could be added for more depth when overhauling the match engine section.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I would agree with all you say, would be nice not to play the same team that you just played in the group stage. Maybe this could be added to the code.

I came 2nd in my group in the fast ticker. I am now playing the team that won my group, surely this can’t be correct? I am Tottenham.

I don’t seem to be able to re-scout this player:

However, when I last logged in I could.

Any news on when this idea of abolishing the maximum squad size will be rolled out now that we are seeing the start of player morale being introduced?

Is the match engine working how you would like it to?

I ask this because there seem to be some things I really can’t work out. Every game I play (apart from internationals) don’t seem to have enough passes in them. I play short passing with the option of often as to how they pass and I struggle to get 50+ passes a game, which seems it’s can’t be correct.

I have a midfielder who scores virtually every game, again this seems to be wrong. (Eugenio Aranguren) fast ticker @ Tottenham.

There also seem to be some really random results. I’ve been doing pretty well for the last 2 seasons in the top 4 nearly all season and then you lose a game you expect to win 7-1. I keep reading about random factors but surely this randomness is too much. I understand that it’s not always the best team that wins, but there just seem to be some weird goings on.

I have also noticed that if you look through the scoring charts in pretty much every country the goalscorers are all old, there is the odd younger goalscorer but it seems that once you hit 31+ you suddenly learn to shoot, surely there should be young goalscorers too?

CPU teams are able to sell retiring players which I also think is wrong if humans can’t, surely we should all be playing by the same rules?

Sorry, I don’t mean to come across as everything is negative as I enjoy the game, I just think there are areas that could be improved. I could be doing things wrong, but these are my thoughts.

I think this is a good idea. Personally I think the squad size at the moment is slightly too small. I can see the reasons why you may have picked the squad size to be what it is, but if it were to be increased slightly, probably by a maximum of 5 I believe it would stimulate the transfer market a little more. It’s hard to try and develop youth players, play friendlies and buy and sell due to a lack of managers and also the limited squad size. Just my opinion though.
