Congratulations François! Great managers also win matches when they aren’t dominating the match…

I don’t say that Alexander isn’t a great manager. He proved many time in Italy and Europe he also has the managerspirit. I experienced that many times when I was the manager of Genoa. :)

But they are too good. It dosent make any difference if your shooting long or short. Actually it is better to use long distance because you have more chance with more shoots. If you are face-to-face with the goalkeeper you should almost always score, but this rarely happens.

Who is responsible to hold the striker is the defence line, not the goalkeepers. Dribble should be less effective and tackle more effective at defence field. So defenders could stop strikers. And avoid the very very often situation face-to-face striker w/ goalkeepers. This will avoid too the famous 4×4×2 with rare pass: striker C0 or C1 gets the ball at middlefield and dribble everyone until reach the goal and shot.

It is hard to belive that a defence line with skills 80+ can be compensated with a goalkeeper 100 with more than 30 great defences.

The goalkeeper should receive a bonus if there is 1, 2 or 3 defenders near striker at the shooting moment, but negative bonus otherwise.

What is sad that is happening is a running for great goalkeepers, what it is bad because you can spend 50M in a goalkeeper and 10M in 4 average defenders. I think it is sad not because I dont have great goalkeepers, but it makes the ruby less fun: just get the better goalkeepers possible and take care of your middle and attack field.

The excessively good goalkeepers are compensating the high number of shots. This is not good, we know, but hopefully that will change soon.

Congratulations François, well deserved title, even the final I believe it was not that lucky… A 100 drible keeper has its advantages :D

About France as number 1 in Europe just one thing to say… WE’LL BE BACK :D

in many matches even some goalkeepers with lessers skills withstand very good shooters at 97, 95, 98 (all having average skills above 87)… i could give a host number of examples…

Veterans galore! Have a look and make your bid…all offers will be considered.

Remember, you need a big squad for your international cup runs in order to maintain stamina. On top of that, my veterans won’t be penalized for those important away games.

They all have SOLID secondaries…in fact, they’ve played and beaten many top teams. Have a look for yourself at my CL Cup run this year…

Last EL match I was very surprised (my board too, they took me 9%).

I was shooting with 3 strikers with shooting skills: 94, 93, 96 and his goalkeeper has 100 as goal as 93 speedy
I coundn´t make ANY goal

In the other hand he was shooting with striker skills: 84 and 83!!!!!!! and my goalkeeper has 95 as goal and 100 speedy
He made 3 goals

What is hard to belive it is my 4 defenders tackle skills: 98, 97, 96, 94
agains his defenders with tackle skills: 84, 88, 90, 97

Match report: http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/match_report/594341

It is not supposed to goalkeeper get tired after a lot of shots?

Hi all :)

It’s done , I’m bringing the CL in France for the very first time ;)

Before anything , I would like to apologise to Alexander the manager of Napoli. I was not deserving to win and my GK Lebrun won the the game himself alone. Napoli should have clearly won this game.
I hope also that the goal that Scarone scored was not with the hand :p :p It’s not so popular at these times…

The board was asking me to reach the quarter final and maybe because I’m playing (352) a little differently than most of the people (442) I was lucky to succeed more. Lebrun saved my game but I chosed him a long time ago on FTL with some specifics skills in the purpose to play with my future tactic and it took me 7 seasons to have him ready. I would like by the way to thank Maria Alves in Porto who made the biggest part of the job.
That’s it, I suppose that it will take a very long time before I can do it again…
Finaly I would like to thank all the managers from the french league for the support and the advices. Some more specialy like Pat Cimetier from Monaco and Sylvain Dingenouts from Brest who if he was less unlucky would have already won the CL. There is a great community in this country and I hope it will go on like this.
Regards to all
Fran

Fantastic topic, you guys really got the whole idea. Just to emphasize all number are average: 140 points to grow, 20% during academy and 10% afterwards, 15 EP for next level on coaching 10. The number which are not average is the experience acquired from matches: 1 for friendlies, 3 for league and national cup, 4 for EL and CS, 5 for CL and LA and 6 for WC.

i would like to add a little bit to what dhimitri said… although in fact he has already said everything…

  • i think all the calculations dhimitri did regarding player evolutions were under the assumptions that coaching level is high enough to unlock all the potential available in a season
  • players receive twice the experience points for every game they played under the youth academy. for eg, if a player received 3 exp points for a league match, he would receive 3X2= 6 points for each league games he played during his youth academy years.
  • A youth player can unlock 20% of his experience points in academy per season, while he can unlock only 10% after leaving the academy.
So, a player who has spent more years in youth academy has unlocked more points ( considering he has played enough games) than a player who has spent less time in academy.
For eg: (lets say coaching level is 10)
Season 1: 28 GP out of 140= 20% (16 yo) (lets say player was born in turn 1, and played all the required games to unlock his potential )
Season 2: 28 GP out of 140= 20% (17 yo) (played all the matches in youth academy)
Season 3: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (18 yo) (contract given on turn 1, so, didnt’ play any matches in academy)
    Season 4: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (19 yo)
    Season 5: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (20 yo)
    Season 6: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (21 yo)
    Season 7: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (22 yo)
    Season 8: 14 GP out of 140= 10% (23 yo)
thus the growth stops after season 8, but remember this is in the most ideal case. Not all players evolve ideally. Not all clubs have coaching level of 10.
  • And yes, as amacb has said, 140 points is an average. your players could either get more than 140 or less than 140. i have an example of player who has grown 141 points in total. (http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/69391) this guy was born in bordeaux when i was there. Luckily i had a chance to hire him for once again for Levante.

(and experience points for each national cup game is ( home cup) is 3)

I know there are more important things on the game to improve, but it’s just an idea! – As everybody here knows, scouts are almost useless on this game. I propose to give them a new hability: search promising players, with “hidden” skills. What you think about this idea? A problem is that would benefict much more rich teams, but it can be worked out!

Well as far as i know 140 points of growth is on avarage. Not all players have the same potencial. Imagine a guy, say player “A” starts his career with 180 points to unluck with estimated value of 200k. His twin brother player “B” starts his career with just 100 points to unluck but with value of 600k beacause he has better stats looking much more promising.

In the end they wil be equally good but only difference would be player “A” reaching his peak in a later stage in his career.

I replied to you in game and I’ll say the same thing here. I don’t call you stupid as a person. I think in general TL ing players “you don’t actually want to sell” is stupid. It’s not you Damago :)…don’t worry….I think your an ok guy :)

DaMaGo, he didn’t call you stupid as a person, just the principle of transfer-listing players that aren’t really for sale…

You can’t arrange friendlies with CPUs :)
It doesn’t matter who you play against. All friendlies, even against girlscouts, count as 1 EP. :D

Thanks for the clarifications Dhimitri & Vaughn!

So the whole point of my questions was to see if it was in my better interest to just schedule friendly games at my home with computer teams of 1st divisions…

Actually that brings up another question, any difference between playing a friendly with a 1st division team of Turkey instead of Spain for example???

1. Yes, players could even grow at the age of 30 if they haven’t played enough games in the past, or they always played with 0 coaching level, but as I said this are exceptions. Good majority of players complete growth by age 23
2. Yes, the coaching level (CL), affects the speed with each players unlock their growth pts. At CL 10, a player would grow every 15 EP, at CL 5, he would grow every 30 EP (example).
3. Correct! Not sure about the stamina, but I think that’s correct too.

Well, my team comprised mostly of veterans has made a fantastic run but all good things must come to an end. I certainly never expected to achieve this level of success. Believe it or not, my board wanted me to reach the group stage. Me and the “boys” (or men I should say) made the superiors proud… Hopefully Marseille can bring home France’s first CL cup!!!

Anyhow, I wish to thank Sylvain (Brest) and my twin brother Charles (Auxerre) for helping me out throughout the past 2 seasons. I wouldn’t be where I am without them…and a very special mention to Luc Blomme.

And regarding the language issues, as far as I know, Francois (Marseille), Martin (Grenoble, Ali (Nice), Charles (Auxerre), and Me (Monaco) all speak French fluently…

Last but not least, despite not getting to finals to play Marseille, I’m very happy and proud to see France gaining the number 1 spot in Europe in terms of UEFA points. I never thought we’d get there quickly since there was a 40 point spread with Spain last season. It’s amazing how things can change so quickly which is a lesson for all of us…never keep your guard down as there’s always another country gunning for the top place. Who knows, we may be the victims next season hehehe.

Bonne Chance Marseille!

1) I have had players OVER 24 growing in a few stats.
2) Coaching level is also a very important (and expensive) factor.
3) Players DO grow if they are subbed at the 55th minute…but not after correct? Also, subbing at the 55th minute doesn’t affect stamina as much.

And lastly: A player needs to play at least 35 minutes to gain experience pts. Basically, a player entering the game after the 55th minute won’t get experience! :)
