BK,
I don’t completely agree with you about it never being a problem in ManagerSim, but let’s move on so we don’t miss the point of this discussion.
I agree with you that “To FIX the wrong logic all you need is correcting the formulas, code and so on”. The big question is: does the developers intend to spend the time that this “formulas and code corrections” demand? We haven’t listen Gabriel or Danilo’s opinion on this topic so far…
Considering that they probably won’t have the time availability to work on this properly, I can see two simple suggestions:
1) Remove all this CPU-only countries, whose only purpose in the current game engine is to buy some decent players or good prospects and never selling them again until the end of their careers (simply removing them from the market..).
2) Reset the CPU behavior to the one that used to be in place before the change that messed with the game’s economy and market. Ok, I know that it wasn’t a perfect game them, but certainly it was funnier than it is right now. Back them it was possible to build a competitive team from zero, as I did with Bristol after 10 seasons, and as others managed to make in much less time (e.g. Dhimiter’s Cardiff). The way it is now, it is almost impossible to attract new players, and almost certain that we will keep loosing traditional good managers such as Dhimiter, Phillip, Ulisses, among others….

Let me add my two cents to the discussion.

First of all, I must say that I agree with most of what has been said by BK and Charles. But, mainly with Filipe. More human players is the only solution – and probably the only objective for this game. I am quite sure that if anyone wants to play against a lot of computers, there are lots of better offline options out there.

However, bringing more human managers to the game is not an easy task – which gets even harder as it seems already difficult to keep the current managers interested in the game.

So, if you can’t make the number of human managers increase in absolute value, maybe increasing the relative number of human managers is an easier task. Personally I believe that the game has just too many countries, leagues and teams for too few managers. It would be much nicer to have only two or three leagues full of human players than having this huge amount of teams managed by CPU. If the same 147 managers that are currently active in fast ticker were playing among only 160 or 200 teams, I am sure that we would have a much more interesting market and consequently much more fun…

The way it is now (84% of the team are managed by CPU), the market rely almost completely in CPU behavior and AI. I have never programmed in my life, but I believe that developing a good AI is something quite difficult and which demands an amount of time that probably Gabriel and Danilo do not have right now. If they could just forget that for a while, considering that in an ideal world computer decisions would be responsible for a minimal movement of the market, they would be able to spend the little time that they have available in other important things, such as the game engine.

Unfortunately, right now the developers seem to have too little time to dedicate to the game and IMHO they are wasting their efforts in the wrong issues (if I am not mistaken the last “improvements” of the game were related to the creation of more and more teams to be managed by CPU and proportional performance for human managers – not really the critical issues for the future of the game…).

Great result Gustavo. Congratulations! But listen to Charles – it is not easy to play three competitions at the same time. Mainly if you play such a competitive league as the French… Good luck next season!

Well, I believe that if we look back to the last changes on the CPU behavior, we will find out that the market was a little more balanced before all these changes happen – by this, I mean before the first change, where CPU started to pay more attention on youth development and stopped buying middle age 86 average players…

Looking at the market now, too much money is being spent in (below) average players – and not only by CPU managers. I think that everyone started to see how human managers are already spending inconsequently the money earned easily after the last CPU behavior changes…

Currently, it is easy to earn money, but it is very demanding to find an opportunity to spend it wisely. Money appears to be everywhere, and you find yourself always competing with other ten or fifteen teams when biding on a young player, what also makes wages rise absurdly… If you have a decent first team, you will probably find yourself having to offer a wage of more than 14,000 for a 17 years old 69 average player!

If we look back, all these changes first began in order to make CPU managers invest more on youth players – and why is it important? I really can’t see why. In a way, since this first change happened, it looks like the game became “more fun” to CPU managers, and less fun to human managers.

I really don’t care if CPU managers don’t bid in youth promises or if they sell them for a low price. If this happens, it means that a human manager has signed this player and that in the future a human managed team will have a stronger team – and that is what this game is all about! I don’t care if the CPU manager make dumb decisions and sell a good promise for his “face value”. Personally, if I was willing to play against intelligent CPU managers, I would be playing the good and old CM3, and not an online game…

I will not question here if there is too much teams available for too few human players, because this is a point to be discussed in another topic…

Well, IMHO, I would like to see CPU managers behaving like they used to behave 3 or 4 months ago: selling more players, buying less players and spending less money when doing business. By doing this, it is also easier for new players – if they assume a formerly CPU managed team, it will not be bankrupt and he will have space to build a team by his own with players available in the market, what is almost impossible now…

One problem that I see now is that all CPU managers acts exactly the same way. It’s interesting to see CPU managers trying to buy youth, but it’s complicated.when they do only this kind of transaction. Maybe having at least to patterns for CPU managers would make the market a little more interesting without filling it only with CPU managers that make silly business.

Another option is allowing bids on non transfer listed players. Trying to convince a human manager to sell a non tl player through the mailing system requires some time. Maybe if you could just show thatyou’re interested in a player by bidding, and if accepted the player goes automatically to the TL for at least 6 ticks, could help making the player market a little more interesting.

Sorry for any typos mistakes, but I am writing from a mobile device using swype…

Well after the “French Monster” era I think that we can finally say that a new era is about to begin. English teams had a fantastic performance in European competitions this season – two European competition finals, four English teams!

It was good to see Cardiff finally achieving the highest spot in Europe after getting so close to it last two seasons. It was also great to see that Man Utd is not dead after Filipe left it. And it was also terrific to see Norwich and Bristol doing a great job in EL, as well as Fulham’s local performance.

All this, the fact that there are several English teams with great managers being built right now (Arsenal, Coventry and Newcastle, just to mention three of them…) and the fact that finally England became number 1 in World Rank make me believe that Season 62 is just the beginning of the English Era! Let’s hope that we can keep Spain and France calmed down for the next seasons – it won’t be an easy task for us.

Congratulations to all English managers for Season 62!

Well, let me add my contribution to the topic.

Observe that all the four mentioned managers (Murilo Heitor, Arthur Quaresma, Andre Knupp and Ge Junior) had made “two side” business (selling and buying for the same manager) during last season with two managers in Brazil (mestre h and Heleno Ribeiro). I know that selling and buying for the same manager in one season is not forbidden, but it is just curious that this two manager had negotiations with all the managers mentioned in this topic. Observe:

Season 30
118 mestre h => Ge Junio
102 mestre h => Arthur Quaresma
97 Arthur Quaresma => mestre h
91 mestre h => humberto teodoro
74 humberto teodoro => mestre h
69 mestre h => Andre Knupp
43 mestre h => murilo heitor
39 Andre Knupp => mestre h
Season 29
130 mestre h => murilo heitor

AND

Season 31
37 heleno ribeiro => murilo heitor
37 heleno ribeiro => Andre Knupp
19 heleno ribeiro => Ge Junio
Season 30
79 heleno ribeiro => humberto teodoro
69 heleno ribeiro => Andre Knupp
40 Andre Knupp => heleno ribeiro
37 heleno ribeiro => Ge Junio
9 heleno ribeiro => Arthur Quaresma
9 heleno ribeiro => murilo heitor
3 murilo heitor => heleno ribeiro
Season 29
130 heleno ribeiro => Arthur Quaresma
88 heleno ribeiro => Ge Junio
46 heleno ribeiro => Andre Knupp
26 Ge Junio => heleno ribeiro

I know that maybe you may consider that I just haven’t accepted yet the fact that Heleno Ribeiro “stole” Marilia from me twice (one with an admitted fake account Oriebir Oneleh) after being fired from Cruzeiro because of cheating. If that is correct, and Heleno Ribeiro didn’t made anything illegal since he was fired form Cruzeiro, than I apologize for making this wrong assumptions. However, if this is an evidence that he is cheating once again, using double accounts once more (I have my reasons to suspect that Mestre H and Heleno Ribeiro are both the same manager), something must be made – because this made me give up on the medium ticker, after putting so much effort on building a competitive team that is now being “used” by another manager…

If a player stays for a whole season without growing any of his stats (considering that he was a first team player), does it mean that he achieved his full potential? Or is it possible for a player to not grow in a season and grow again one or two seasons later?
