Minor updates to game navigation, plus a placeholder for a future feature. Whoever talks about it first in the forums will get a special prize.
I hear you, and this happens because our simulation has a number of gaps – otherwise it wouldn’t take just some seconds to run each game and generate all of the content that is generated as a result. We will see if something can be done at least about special moments like the goal :)
Just spent some time improving the Match Replays. It should be easier to see what is happening, and also to control the speed of the replay.
Just made some changes. Have a look and let me know what you think…
cheers
Definitely. I also thought about that but decided to do something about it later, as it was late and I had to sleep. I will also throw in another interesting feature along once I get to it.
Match Replays have been re-written to use javascript and html5. This is a first draft version of this screen. It has literally been written in a few hours just to replace the java applet, which was not working. The next step is to make it nicer and responsive (so it works on mobile phones).
edit: just added a slider to the screen. I think it will make it easier for you guys to use it.
Fixed!
Hi Vogul,
While your points are mathematically correct, they bear no significance in the match simulation or in any other aspect of the game that matters much.
To be honest we are a bit baffled by some of the reactions we have seen around this. We know the mechanics of the game inside out, and honestly can’t understand what’s the big deal. Whoever put in a lot of effort to build a nicer team around one or more specific aspects will still have the same advantages that were in there before this change – in relation to all other teams in the game, of course (which is what matters). The only thing that will impact everyone is: your current situation won’t last as long as it would, because new players will come in and be competitive sooner than they would have been otherwise. But not that sooner! You will still heap the rewards for your effort in building a better team for a while before that happens.
To conclude, we always thought that game improvements beat all other priorities. Specially because Rubysoccer had been stale for a little while. We don’t want to wait for a season to end before introducing new functionalities we think are nice, at least not if that is not absolutely a must (technically speaking). If RubySoccer was paid, had ads or whatever – therefore giving us some sort of income – we could look into options that would allow us to do this part differently. But we are where we are.
Hopefully you guys will rethink your positions in relation to this, and agree with us that RubySoccer needs to evolve as quickly as it can. Rest assured we will never introduce features that wouldn’t impact our players as evenly as possible.
No Davison, you did not get it right. Read everything again.
From now on, you will be able to know how long each team spent on each area of the field (defense, attack or midfield) – when in possession. The information is on the match report. Old matches will show 0% everywhere, as these calculations were just added. Merry Christmas!
Bummer, just below the threshold. I will see what can be done, but the danger is changing this and breaking stuff for other devices… Thanks for the screenshot BTW, it really helps.
I see, so Neymar should be ok with not playing until he is 25…? Just checking.
I want you guys to start communicating more, so I’ve spent some time to make the forum more usable on a mobile device. There’s still some things that need to be done but the current changes should already make the experience much better.
Do you mean like it was before, inside of the grey header of that box? Also, the challenge with the match report is real estate – and getting a screen that is not too sparse. I’m not 100% sure what you mean, do you think you could quickly use paintbrush to manipulate a screenshot and demonstrate visually what you mean?
Do we have a volunteer to write our “What is?” page and take the screenshots that should be included in it? I will discuss with Gabriel and think of a nice reward for the fine gentleman that does it. Or madam… The only problem is that it would be nice if we could have it done asap.
Our portuguese (brazil) translations have been updated. Still have to update some help screens, but the game itself has been fully translated
Our previous mobile layout has been disabled, as our new site should already be mostly compatible with mobile devices. A new login area has been created for mobile devices, so no scrolling on the collapsed menu to get to the login section is required. By the way, the facebook / google login buttons are the first to come up in collapsed menus (for mobile devices).
What is the resolution on your screen? Is The browser maximised? If it is not, the game navbar will collapse below 1366px, and you will then have to use it by clicking on that button on the top right (on the navbar)
we have plans to do just that. will see if I can squeeze it in soon.
Portuguese (Portugal) managers might be experiencing a site error right at the front page. That problem should be gone now, but you have to clear your cookies . Let me know if you have any questions.
Our different game theme colours are back! As before, you can change them in your manager settings. Question for you: should the user preference be stored and used on the front page as well? Also, the mail screen should now look better, the navbar menu should never span over more than one line, we have new icons for some menu options and the managers online dialog now also tells you when a specific manager last browsed rubysoccer (so if the manager hasn’t been browsing in a while, it means he/she is probably not even available anymore).
Should be fixed now. Screens width below 1366px should now give you the collapsed options – this will ensure the menu only has one line.
I’ve temporarily put the switching back and from the National team on the black toolbar strip, at the top. I will think about a better placement later.
Looks like we might be going through some problems with our server hardware, so the website might have some hiccups. I’ve raised a ticket with our provider, lets see how it goes.
yes, that is what is expected. This is called responsive layout. If the table wouldn’t fit within your device screen, that table is presented using a local horizontal scroll – which doesn’t affect the rest of the screen.
Sniff and Joseppi, please try again and let me know if it looks better now.
What do you mean by “not working”?
We will make that one part of rubysoccer itself.
If this is a price people are not willing to pay for the other benefits of the new look & feel, I will look into options to bring the “one click menu experience” back. But I do ask everyone to try it for a bit, before coming to any conclusions. Also remember this is the first iteration – we will adjust things as we go.
