Now articles have that info. I am also planning one more addon to our newspaper functionality that will make the articles more interesting. Wait and see :D. cheers
In fact, the plan is to have the link to the match (with the result) in all articles. So it is not mandatory to mention it on the text.
don’t worry, we will be reviewing everything gradually. i’ve just fixed one article like that, by the way.
There at least 4 basic differences between your picture and the current design:
1) text font: that is a part that could be worked on. but we have to keep in mind that sometimes we can´t have huge fonts on titles. some of the titles are long!
2) the column in the right: well, this is the first version of our newspaper and, as we said, it only contains match result types of articles, for now.
3) the picture: i will still implement tat. the idea is to have a good variety of pictures, but they have to be very generic for this type of article.
4) Interview: again, to be implemented. only match result article types for now.
Other than that, we still don’t have enough templates do populate all of our most important news, and we still need to adjust/provide some more parameters for our reporters.
Here’s my suggestion so we can improve the current design: save one of our newspaper pages (backup the files), make your adjustments and send us back both packages (the backup and the adjusted one, so we can compare and see the code differences). I understand that, with the current design, you don’t even want to be mentioned as a contributor for that page :D.
cheers!
No, I like this picture :). Kidding, will remove soon.
now it would be a good time for a suggestion, in this case :)
By the way, thanks again to our “reporters” ! I will add their name in each one of the articles. cheers!
Our newspaper presses are on! It is still a little bit buggy due to the fact we did not get the fix from our developer plugin and other smaller things, but I think it is already enjoyable as a “beta”! So enjoy!
I’ve seen this kind of behavior before, and the reason was a virus. Would you mind trying a full system scan?
wouldn’t “two” be a good replacement for “lots”? :D kidding, thanks for reporting. We are already aware of both of them, and we hope we can fix it soon. One of them depends on a fix in a piece of code that is not owned by us (it is a plugin inside of our framework), but i am already in contact with the developer and I think we will be able to get the fix soon. The other one I will analyze asap.
It should be ok now!
are cookies enabled at your notebook? and what do you mean by “I can’t access”? what is the message / error?
yes, take a look here http://www.rubysoccer.com/forums/5/topics/517?page=4
No problem :). By the way, did not adjust the contributors page yet but I will. Did not let you guys know before, but Vaughn is the one who suggested this design. I did not implement exactly what he has suggested, but a 90% similar one.
One more thing, we’ve just found out a bug in the messages parameters. This means that you guys will receive messages with texts like “Something %{adjective} happened!”. This is not a bug in RubySoccer, but in one of the new translation plugins. We’ve already opened a bug for that in the original package. If the situation is not quickly resolved we might rollback to the previous versions of our stuff, for now… Will keep you guys posted.
Yep, I did not enable the article generation yet. It is just to give you guys a teaser :D. By the way, if you have any suggestions about the design, please let me know.
Sorry for the long delay. As usual in the development world, got some unexpected shit happening. But now we are in the latest rails version. Enjoy!
Special thanks to James Prentice and Neil Green, our biggest templates contributors. Here are the classifications we need most:
[1, 0, #] >>The winner and the loser really were the expected teams
[1, 0, 0] >>>>>>Scores exactly as expected
[1, 0, 1] >>>>>>Small positive difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 2×0
[1, 0, 2] >>>>>>Medium positive difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 3×0
[1, 0, 3] >>>>>>Large positive difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 4×0
[1, 0, 4] >>>>>>Small negative difference. Example: expectation 4×0 result 3×0
[1, 0, 5] >>>>>>Medium negative difference. Example: expectation 4×0 result 2×0
[1, 1, #] >>The winner and the loser were not the expected teams
[1, 1, 1] >>>>>>Small difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 0×1
[1, 1, 2] >>>>>>Medium difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 0×2
[1, 2, #] >>>>Tied match result (Both teams scored the same number of goals)
[1, 2, 0] >>>>>>Scores exactly as expected
[1, 2, 1] >>>>>>Small difference. Example: expectation 1×0 result 1×1
[1, 2, 2] >>>>>>Medium difference. Example: expectation 2×0 result 1×1
Also , we need size variety. We have 3 options of sizes, the small one is going to be more frequent on our newspaper. But we need templates for all 3 sizes!
cheers!
I expect that I will be able to turn the newspaper on next week. We still need more templates. I am going to post here the types we need as soon as I get home.
cheers!
it was stuck. but now the problem is fixed and it should be ok. cheers!
Right now I am just on for about 2 minutes, so I will send you a message about that later, Neil. That is a generic automatic comment, because I did not implement the option for us admins to customize it yet :D. But the general rule is that articles need to stick to the template guidelines (type, category, sub category). If you wrote somethink like ‘player X got a red card’ or ‘the team won 3 points’ or ‘the team could not make to the next phase of the national cup’, a review is necessary, because the current article guidelines are much more generic than that. In future we will have more and more kinds of guidelines, and more particular articles will be possible. cheers!
Neil, you were right. Take a look now, it should be working. cheers!
Neil, that is very strange! Could you please send a screenshot to admins at rubysoccer.com?
cheers
well, i was thinking about that when i was adding it. i might change this to “scores as expected” only, because it refers to difference of goals only.
Added the missing sub_category for tie! Expected result. cheers!
Yep, just ignore it, usually :). It is a standard button from this editor tool, on the simplest mode.
Nice, guys. I really forgot the “expected tie” option :). I will add it. As for the rest, I will add more to the var list help, but as always you can write anything you think it would be a good idea inside the %{}. If we agree with you, we will make it work and let others know. I will put together a diffent page so I can list all vars discussed so far… But the main ones will remain in the page they are today. Moreover, It is in our plans to offer more specific match results classifications so we can have more options in our articles.
Totally agree. But first we have to completely stablish what we already have.
thanks for reporting. you were right, I was restarting the server.
cheers!
Nirabdha, we have many types of article planned. My choice when implementing was to first implement the one I thought was the most important. But now that we have a full structure behind the newspaper it will be easy and fast to start adding more types.
