One more pattern.
17 game sand no clean sheet yet. No matter who I play against, they are going to score against me. I might as well be the virtual Zdenek Zeman, who couldn’t make a team defend even if his life depended on it. But even end of the table teams that hardly collect 10 goals all season, still score against me like it’s nothing.
Amiens has scored 7 goals all season in 13 games, 3 of which against me in 3 games, 1 goal per game
Le Havre, 6 goals in the league, 2 against me :D

I am a skeptic, but now I am sure the CPU has taken reins of my team and the future has already been written ;)

well dhimitri, what would u suspect with that kind of team? to win the league in france? The results you shows are maybe weird, but comparing the teams is not a big of difference.

@Vaughn I never said I pretend to win the league. As I have said in many previous posts, my team is one in development and I my aim is a 7th place to get to europe next season. You are right about teams in France being close to each other.
However, Amiens and Le Havre are very weak compared to the rest of the league, and I picked them as the most obvious case to prove that penetrating my net is not a matter of strength, but rather a consistent trend. I perhaps should have shown some numbers, such as 25-27 in goals, 269-203 in shots. Translation: 1 goal scored per 10.76 shots, 1 goal allowed for every 7.52 shots. Clearly the work rate is there, but the end product is lacking and I doubt is a problem of my strikers (my MA +1 has score 5 already)!

please don’t feel offended cause that’s not how i mean it, but if you look @ your post above mine u said something about Amiens. In my opinion is it a close match between G’s and A’s stats wise and that they scored against you isn’t that big of a deal. i would rather complain when a 75 A with 70 secs would score against a G with 95kep and 90+ stats. And since i’ve played in France i doubt u will get a UC spot with that growing team. That would actually impress me ;)

No offense taken mate :)
I’m not complaining but rather making observations (I hope so). I am trying to point out a trend here, that no matter the sides involved, no matter their respective strengths, no matter how the game develops, there’s always scoring in my goal, whether the opposition makes 10 or 40 shots against me.
Regarding the strength of Strasbourg, the overall average pts per starting player in each team (10 outfielders in accordance with tactics used by each team) my team is actually ranked 6th best right now:
Brest ********616.7
Monac0******609.3
Rennes******602.4
Psg********601.5
Niort*******598.4
Strasb******597.5
This indicator is far from valuable because it doesn’t take the goalie into account, nor does it measures strength per sector (defense, midfield, offense), nor does it takes into consideration the individual importance (a star striker can make lots of difference)
But it does show the strength of the group overall and according to me my team is underachieving :( (yet, don’t fire the manager) lol

Not tobad a guess :). It does indeed not give the right indicator. My “best excell team” would be 618.2, but I don’t play those exact 11 players. My 90 shooter DA has a higher score in excell then my 94 shooting DA, but I still believe in putting the best shooter in the lineup :). So the 90 guy in on the bench :)

This is utterly ridiculous. And I don’t mean the score as a whole. Almost all Bordo’s goals were LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG shots…..
Something’s got to give here

I know guys, all of a sudden lots of goals are happening, even without changes to the match engine. The only thing that changed is that home team does not receive the +3 bonus anymore, but visitor teams receive a -3 penalty. Is that a drastic change that would result in more goals? I don’t believe so :)

@Nirabdha

I think your suggestion is screwing us up :P
A (-3) punishment hurts a team more than a (+3) rewards it. The difference stands in the percentages between Before and After the rule is applied:
Let’s say both teams have100 pts in their natural state. If we use the +3 rule, then the home team will get an extra 30 pts for a total of 130.
Gain=130/100=77%. It means the home team has strengthened by 30%
If we apply the -3 rule then the team will lose a 30 pts to a total of 70
Loss=100/70=143%, which means traveling team is 43% weaker then it’s natural state.
Of course, differences in percentages is smaller in RS because numbers involved (a team’s excel value) are bigger
.

The application of the (-3) rule on the traveling goalie (if it is actually applied) is even more so devastating, because his main ability is more so important than that of an outfielder. No wonder, my poor Ribas got perforated 7 times from three quarters of the pitch (that’s like shooting from 30 meters away)

but still i think travelling teams should lose rather than the home team gaining it. not sure by how much though…

Dhimitri has a good point, that’s the only explanation for some recent results :D
Anyway, the match engine must be tweaked, as we all know ;)

@Dhimitri: sorry, mate, but your maths suck ;)
first, if a team is rewarded each player by ‘+3’ their skills rise minimum ~3% (when all players have 97 in each skill) and maximum ~300% (when all players have 1 pt in each skill). so it depends on the quality of the team. The top teams with some 97+ players get rewarded with less than 3% (a striker with 100 in shooting don’t get a 103-shooter, but stays 100, right Gabriel/Danilo?)
The opposite (decrease by ‘-3’) is also true.

Just an example: Let’s take a team A with players 87 average and a team B with 87 average.
a) home reward modus – team A: 87+3=90 and team B=87
b) away decrease modus – team A: 87 and team B=87-3=84
—> i both cases the difference is 3 points! surprise …
—> if you wanna compare the percentage difference (guest/home), a= 87/90=96,66% ; b=84/87=96,55%

Ergo: so we are talking about a difference of ~0,1% for the two modi (not 20-40%). So i say it doesnt make a big difference which modus to use.

But it’s more realistic to decrease the guest team. The home player can’t get better than their maximum ability (see skills list). And top teams cant benefit so much from the gaining (see above).

i agree the goalies should get special treatment.

Your comments are correct Alban, including the one saying the skills don’t go over 100 (or below 1).

Something feels really weird and i think i’m not the only one. I’ve seen some beatings in my soccer life, but what’s going on? It feels like all the games are more random then ever. Team A wins from team B, Team B wins from team C but team A loses from team C. Even with almost exact the same lineup/tactics.

Look at this (don’t feel offended stefan): http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/match_report/427520

Some notes on that match:
- Scott Collins AC → Position D LC 0 → getting match point of 9.6
- Jardel Medeiros DC → Position M C +1 → getting match point of 10

My team isn’t so crappy i should lose by 3-1 with shit possession and only 10 shots should i ?! I’m not the most genious with tactics, but i know what good players are etc. When ever i put in alot of effort with statistics in excel and trying to figure things out it seems to get worser every time. This is really getting out of hand in my opinion.

Nicky, we do know that the match engine needs to be tweaked, and it will. But random is the wrong word to qualify its current state. If that was true a lot of stuff would not be in the way they are right know. An example is the ranking. The names on the top of our ranking do not change that much.

Have you ever tried to investigate the different results you get when you have the same tactic X against each one of the possible tactics the adversaries can choose? It is not just a matter of team A winning against B and then losing to C, which lost to B recently.

Be patient guys, changes to the match engine always require a great amount of our time. I’m not saying we won’t do them, of course we will, we’re just trying to find enough time to work on them while delivering smaller improvements and fixes :)
