Hi, the Man of the Match had low stats with 5 passes and 3 tackles but got a 9.1 for the match:

https://goalfc.net/match/report/10281436

Hugo Marques: 9.1 with these stats:
Passes 6
Passes Accuracy 5
Tackles 5
Tackling Efficiency 3

Alternatively,
Ivan Banovic: 8.3 with these stats:
Passes 15
Passes Accuracy 13
Tackles 5
Tackling Efficiency 3
Shots 5
Shots on Target 3
Offsides 2

Just checking in that this is right, I was be surprised if 2 Offsides negates the passing difference.

Yeah, maybe the “penalty” for the offsides on the rating is too heavy. I’ll check that next week.

So, I’ve had a look at the rating and offsides alone wouldn’t explain this difference. I think the main reason is an extra rating underdogs receive: as they are already expected to play worse, their starting rating is higher to give additional recognition to their players’ efforts. A second reason could be things not shown in the stats table, like pass interceptions.

Ahh, awesome! Thank you.

I don’t know how the weighting system works under the hood, didn’t realise, of course! :-)

I seem to compare my teammates match statistics to each other more now. Even though teams likely perform the same number every game, effective tackling in real life is significantly harder than effective passing. Just curious as to how it’s weighted, though not anything I can do to improve the effectiveness beyond choosing ‘hard’.
