I think starting value is still good indication but it comes down to players hidden potential. Cases like this are very rare. Now what are the chances a player reaching both 100 in tackle and passing with starting value 118k : http://www.rubysoccer.com/game/player_info/87904

I did also choices that made me regret later.

Bottom line is you cant keep them all and you did and will fire someone with great potential .

i really like this aspect of the game, you can only make educated guesses but you can never be sure.
