Arsenal as a club…
France as a country (since my country barely plays any international football)…

I doubt Indian or Chinese people care that much about football to have a club with more fans than Flamengo :D

i was just referring to the teams in general, not football clubs… You know, the cricket is hugely popular in India, thus it would be a tough competition. Regarding the football clubs, you are probably right:) ( i did not mean to understand the “team” mentioned in the topic to be a football team, being an off topic forum:)

@Nirabdha: I didn’t think about it, for most Brazilians (me included) when you’re talking about a team it’s obviously a football club :P

But if you guys want to know I’ll include another team to my list:

Basketball – Flamengo

Hi,

Celta of Vigo, from Galicia, northwest Spanish corner. I would love to see some Deportivo A Coruña fan here, this year we recovered the derby!!!!

From international football, for our proximity and neighbourhood, I have a special feeling for Porto and Sporting Braga from Portugal, and also for Benfica and Sporting Portugal, or Arsenal from England, Rome from Italy, and Hamburg, Schalke 04 or Borussia Dortmund from Germany

Sport Lisboa e Benfica (SLB! SLB!)
A couple of years back they broke the record for most fan memberships to claim to have the biggest fan base. I’m sure fans of Europes giant teams will disagree but hey, they did it.

From Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.L._Benfica
“Benfica has more than 14 million fans and the Guinness World Record for the football club in the world with most members.”

Oh, aren’t they brothers? Jonathan is now in Spain. Julien was two years ago in Deportivo A Coruña

They are brothers, but Jonathan went to Holland at a very young age and got the Dutch nationality at age 20 and played for the Dutch u21 team.

Wikipedia says something interesting also: “Changes to FIFA regulations regarding switching nations now mean that De Guzman is again eligible for selection by Canada, as well as the countries of his parents, Jamaica and the Philippines, having yet to make an appearance for the senior Netherlands squad.”

So he can choose between 4 countries!
